Kristian Sarkies would be a good buy for the Mariners What do you think about the FourFourTwo article Sarkies to join Mariners [RUMOUR]? Have your say.

he's in danger of being the player with great potential that never fulfilled it....couldn't get a regular run at victory and now adelaide....I think the mariners will be a good move for him altho he will have stiff competition in the midfield with hutch and jedinak being 2 of the best in the comp last yr.....if it goes ahead then I think he needs to make this move count or his career may never take off.

He has the talent - especially from set-pieces - but I don't think he has the right attitude. Perhaps McKinna can fix him, I hope so cause otherwise that will be a Aussie talent wasted.

I still can't see why this bloke is a) considered to be great. b) a dead ball specialist (despite his hours of practice).
In three a-league seasons he has fulfilled absolutely nothing - especially from his reknowned set pieces, never managed a permanent starting role, served only to prove he has a massive ego which isn't in proportion to his over rated ability and seemingly gotten in the ear of housemate, Nathan Burns, which has transpired to put Nathan off his game and focus a little more than maybe he should've on nightlife.
he will leave AUFC, no doubt there, he will only warm the pine at the next team too unless he sorts out his attitude.
Heres hoping he proves me wrong.

Hes never scored from a free kick and hes a dead ball specialist, he almost gloats about taking 100 free kicks after every training session. What for though, its not working. It looks as though hes gonna be a club slut for the rest of his career.

Hmmm talented or not, if the attitude is not there (assuming that may be the issue), then he will be warmiing up the bench for some time. The Mariners with 'H' & 'J' were impressive in the middle of the park. Not sure how he will fit into the plan of things.
I recall my early days of football when a 'Scottish' coach would throw everything at you including the kitchen sink to toughen you up. Still seems there are too many prancy boys out there.

Rumourinho, I think you should get your facts straight before you vent your spleen everywhere. Sarkies scored from a free kick in season 1 against QLD roar and it is still the most powerful goal (in kph) I have seen after watching every a-league game to date. He has also scored 16 goals for u17, u20 and u23 national team, including 6 goals for the current olyroos. Yeah he does have an attitude problem I completely agree, but he has plenty of talent just needs to stay on the field to prove it. The Mariners are not a club that puts up with players with attitude problems, so hopefully that fixes his major problem, but I have no doubt with the right mix of players around him then he'll improve big time.
In saying all that I highly doubt the source of this rumour as the mariners midfield currently reads Ahmad Elrich, Caceras, Hutchinson and Jedinak. Not much room for highly talented and consistant players, without mentioning players that have been injured and struggled to stay on the field (sarkies)

christiano, I think you should get your facts straight before you vent your spleen everywhere. His first goal was in season 2 against Perth Glory when he scored Melbourne's two goals, one was a tap in the other a free kick. Dont believe me, Hyundai A-League Debut Goal: v Perth Glory (D2-2), Members Equity Stadium, 7 January 2007 Are people just making shit up here.

i watched kristian play a bit this year at adelaide and i think he would come good with some game time.
i have to say he doesn't live up to his reputation and i found it annoying when he would push cassio away from the free kicks.
i want to believe in his reputation but i haven't seen any proof and i don't think he really fits in at adelaide.
Adelaide should sign the centre midfilder from Yatai to replace him...he was quality

I have a feeling he is not so level headed yet and causes trouble or conflict within camp, I mean he didn't fit at Victory andnow Adelaide, might think he is better than he really is

i think given GVE's reputation for bringing out the best in players, i'm surprized the jets haven't been mentioned.

I have seen Sarkies play a lot better for the Olyroos, to those people who doubt his dead ball skills, you need to checkout the Olyroos games.

"an awesome player" lol where the hell was than quote pulled from?
probably. He's not one to sit happily on the bench or with a bit part role, but then if i had his talent i wouldn't be either. Would be a big loss for Ald (hold on...not really)

So, he wasn't happy playing at melbourne where he only played a bit-part role...so he went to Adelaide, where he only played a bit-part role...so he went to CCM - can anybody see a pattern emerging here?? He'll be at queensland next, then newcastle, then Perth...and finally, in four years time he'll go to Wellington (if they're still around). Before realising that he has infact failed to fulfil that apparent "potential" at which point he disappears into state league obscurity.
