LIVE MIRABELLA CUP DRAW TONIGHT

The Mirabella Cup draw will be held tonight live online at 7pm and will be hosted by Extra-Time Football Show host Simon McCuskey.

The FA-Cup style knock-out competition will feature more than 100 local teams from across Victoria.

The Mirabella Cup draw will be shown on VPL Live TV http://vpltv.footballfedvic.com.au where each zone will be drawn out in alphabetical order, with each zone taking approximately 10 minutes to complete.

The Mirabella Cup zone knock-out stage will begin on 19 March and will be a very exciting opportunity in Victorian Football, as many clubs will get a chance to test themselves against higher league opposition.

Football Federation Victoria (FFV) Competitions Manager Liam Bentley believes “The Mirabella Cup will be a fantastic opportunity for smaller, local clubs to gain state notoriety as they progress through the tournament.”

“It will present the local clubs a chance to make a name for themselves as the giant killers of Victorian Football and claim a few scalps along the way,” Bentley said.

With the prospect of facing Victorian Premier League clubs, the Mirabella Cup will be a great platform for local clubs to test their skill.

The Mirabella Cup draw results will be available Thursday morning 10 March from www.footballfedvic.com.au

Gippsland, Loddon Mallee & Goulbourn North-East Zones will not be drawn tonight. Further details regarding these zones will be announced at a later stage.

Though entries closed on Friday, nominations were being taken upto today as many Clubs had not entered.

Cool. I went looking for details on this earlier and saw the draw was tonight.

Wonder what the delay with Gippsland, Loddon Mallee & Goulbourn North-East Zones is? Not enough teams?

Shit just got real :D

Only 4 clubs in the whole Eastern Region? It's a great setup for a first try, but the regional breakdown might need amelioration for next season. Plenty more entries from "Wimmera/South Coast" Region (basically Geelong and Ballarat). But more importantly, where is North? :evil:

I would have gone to see the Nth Sunshine Eagles, as I have watched a few of their matches in the past, but they have a bye. I will have to wait for another round maybe:)

Love the effort, but all that needs to be in a separate article for the 2011 Mirabella Cup, rather than the current article about the Cup itself. I'd fix that up myself tonight but I've got to be up in three hours, maybe tomorrow.

Indicative of how f*cked up football administration is in this state... If you're going to have byes, then spread them out - there should never be a scenario in which bye is drawn against bye.

It's because of the zone system they're using. They need to get down a certain amount of teams per zone before the seeded teams come in. Having a 'bye vs bye' fixture eliminates at least one empty space which is only there because of the lack of numbers to make an even 8 or 16 teams per zone.
