The difference with Sutherland is the the funding did not come out of the public pocket, the money was donated by the major sponsor. With water availability & usage the way it is heading, the more of these surfaces there are around the place, especially in the west, the better off the football community will be.

What do you think about the FourFourTwo article Football Becomes 'Political Football'?
EXCLUSIVE: NSW Liberal leader Barry O’Farrell will commit $2.2m to upgrade iconic Sydney football ground Lambert Park with funding to include installing a new synthetic surface.

Have your say.

So Lambert Park will now not be affected by the Metro/Light Rail. I honestly thought the channel from Lilifield to Dulwich Hill was going to go through one corner of the facility itself and put it out of action for 2 years.

had the state givt proceeded with the project it would of been the end of football at lambert park. thanks to our state govt, its not, which has resulted in around $100m in wasted taxpayers funds that could of paid for 1000 synthetic surfaces and ground upgrades.

politics aside, any investment in football specific infrastructure is to be commended. As a suns supporter, we were wrapped to have secured some funding from the member for kogarah, would of loved to have received a lot more for a synthetic surface at bicentennial but you never know one day.

anyway well done apia, should help them with ground availability issues and the like.

the money is only being offered by the libs to secure votes in what will be three very closely fought electorates.

in saying that, not sure if youre aware, but big barry has already pledged to provide significant funding to the new FNSW HQ at Riverstone. That's very positive and you never know, those facilities might be used as a base for any new GWS team.
