Jason Hoffman -

Is a top bloke. But I can explain why he does so well against lowly opposition.

During Hearts pre season in 2010, he bagged 2 hattricks and a brace in 4 games, without looking like a superstar. He never pressures defenders or imposes himself up front, but he is footballs equilavent of an AFL goal sneak. Given the opportunity to score, he will usually finish. Now, 2 goals in 31 A-League appearances is not a very proud record for a striker, or even a midfielder, but as the quality of defending is a lot higher in the A-League compared to the VPL, he gets a lot less chances to score or impose himself on the game.

I saw him on Sunday, it's not as though he was a constant headache for the defence he just took his opportunities when they came. For his first goal the ball found it's way to him in the box with a bit of time and space and he picked his shot well, the second one was just a fuck-up by the defense, I think they assumed offside and stopped playing, leaving him one-on-one with the keeper and as bad as everyone seems to think he is he wouldve had to have been retarded to not score then.

He is not inconsistent though. In the A-League he is consistently bad. Against state league opposition, he constistently scores left right and center. He was frequently scoring hat tricks when Heart played against state teams (Heart teams were usually made up of non-regulars and trialists).

He's a kid that performs inconsistently.

He won't be the first, he won't be the last.

Has anyone watched Hoffman play at this level and can they explain why he does so well becuase he is trully awful at a-league standard. Not trolling so please dont take it the wrong way.

hmm he scored a brace on debut for the Jets like 2 seasons ago....that must mean the 2009 vpl season was better than the A league:lol:

It just shows you the huge gulf in standard between the VPL and the A-League when Heart reserve player Jason Hoffman scores a brace.

Bit tough on Heidelberg getting points deducted, the fines and ban for the manager were fair enough but its not exactly the clubs fault if he's a dickhead
