Para Hills to appeal FFSA points verdict

Val Migliaccio From: AdelaideNow April 14, 2011

PARA Hills officials will launch an appeal after the Football Federation SA docked three points from the club.
Para Hills chairman Peter Greco said the club would fight the deduction tooth and nail after the club allegedly fielded four unregistered senior players in the 1-0 win over Galaxy in round one.

The FFSA's tribunal met last night to discuss the matter after Galaxy was awarded the points and a 3-0 forfeit.

The FFSA announced the harsh punishment on Monday.

Greco has revealed all the players in question were registered as Para Hills players in 2010 after playing the entire pre-season earlier this year.

Greco said Para Hills officials lodged the registration papers in January, expecting to have all the players registered as per FFSA regulations only to discover the onus was on the club and not the state's governing body.

"We filed all of our paperwork on January 24 this year," Greco told AdelaideNow. "But the FFSA has no records of receiving it.

"They only informed us on March 25 that these players were not registered after we were chasing player passes for all of them.

"Then the FFSA told us players were OK to play round one and then were told were going to lose the points, it doesnt make it easy for us.

"We're going to fight this until the end.

"They have also been our players and what motivation we would have not to register these players? "They've been our players for a while."

Nonetheless, Para Hills has chance to make up lost ground when it hosts Blue Eagles at the Paddocks on Saturday. Both sides are on three points after losses last weekend.

Blue Eagles, however, should be bolstered by the return of Evan Kounavelis from injury after he missed Saturday's 0-2 loss to MetroStars at Marden Sports Complex. I

n other matches, MetroStars has its chance to wreck reigning premier Adelaide Citys 100 per cent record at TK Shutter Reserve.

The Black and Whites are in formidable form, fresh from belting Modbury 8-0 at Adelaide City Park last Monday.

Tomorrow night Modbury, still without a point after the opening three rounds, host Campbelltown at Jet Park. Modbury has just four days to get Monday's hiding out of its system while Campbelltown are searching for a second win of the season.

Raiders, also without points, host high flying Croydon at the Croatian Sports Centre while Galaxy faces Western Strikers at Makris Park on Saturday night.

FFSA Round four Super League - Friday - 7:45pm - Modbury v Campbelltown at Jet Saturday - 3pm - MetroStars v Adelaide City at TK Shutter Reserve (Live on 5RTI-531am); Para Hills v Blue Eagles at The Paddocks - 7pm - Raiders v Croydon at Croatian Sports Centre; Galaxy v Western Strikers at Makris Park Premier League - 3pm - Enfield v Noarlunga at Rushworth Reserve; Hills v White City at The Hawks Nest; Pirates v Cumberland at Pirate Park; Comets v Playford at Santos Stadium; Cobras v Olympic at Weigall Oval. The FFSA competitions were already in danger of collapse just before the season started, with clubs threatening to break away. Now things get worse with clubs being punished because of FFSA's administrative bungles...
