What are your thoughts on the FFV's continuing decision to dock points from clubs as a first course of disciplinary action, Dejan? What do you think about the FourFourTwo article Gully Smash Five In Romp? VPL Wrap: Reigning champions Green Gully moved out of the relegation zone but a thrilling high-scoring draw between Oakleigh and Hume City took centre stage to end round 10.Have your say.

It's becoming common practice which is an even greater worry. Not sure about locking fans out when they did nothing wrong either. Why would you want to keep people from seeing your product? Doing it to Dandenong, who get good numbers and probably make a decent profit at home, is inflicting two very heavy punishments. You wouldn't be too happy about it?

I totally agree with what you have said. In the first 10 rounds of the season, there have already been two teams who have had points deducted - that's just unheard of. As I mentioned in another thread, we have pretty much accepted any previous sanctions handed down by the FFV - but we will be strongly appealing this, we feel the extent of the punishment handed down is totally unjustified. The hearing will be held tonight at 6pm, and there is a fair contingent of Dandenong Thunder supporters that will be turning up to the hearing to show their support.

Point deduction and four-game crowd ban (which is equivalent to a very heavy fine) are too harsh. Good luck tonight and let me know how it goes!

Just ridiculous. Thanks mate, I'll post the outcome up on here once we get it. Edited by Heartinator: 4/5/2011 11:24:51 AM

Goal Weekly claimed Dandy make 20k from each home game so the lock-out equates to a 80k fine. I have no idea how accurate their 20k figure would be but thats a huuuuuuuge punishment. The points deductions handed put in VPL are ridiculous.
Also i saw big Ljubo at the Oakleigh game on monday, after all his talk about his love of state league football etc. he left half an hour early. The cock-up at the end by Zois was just so bad

It will take quite a while to recover from it but the community is exceptional and there is no way they would let anything happen to the club.   at Ljubo.

What exactly happened to warrant such a punishment. I'm from Queensland and follow the Vpl to get my Australian football fix during the winter so I am not privy to everything that goes on.

It's alleged a Thunder club associate abused a match official, as well as made inappropriate contact after their 1-1 draw at home to Bentleigh.

Yeah Dejan, it was reckless but also harmless. I did not actually hurt the guy, other than a stud mark or two. I was pissed off with from the prior challenge where I could have broken my neck or back, don't know if you saw it. Must say the refs offer no protection in the VPL! It is war every week!

Thank you for your reply Dejan. Abbuse of a match official seems like a ridiculous reason for the punishment meted out not to mention excessive. Can't judge on the innapropriate contact though as we don't know how far the contact went.

Appeal from last night has been adjourned, pending final submissions.
Current penalties stand until they reconvene.
FFV say they have zero-tolerance towards abuse of match officials.
FFV point out "third serious alleged offence by the club and its supporters in the past 14 months involving spitting, assaulting and or verbally abusing referees."
These were initial findings on April 27: Dandenong Thunder SC is charged with Misconduct / MP 6 (Subsequent ‘Serious’ Offence) as a result of its Club Associate(s) allegedly directing abusive and/or insulting language and/or engaging in inappropriate physical contact and/or behaviour, which may have included spitting, at/on the Match Official(s).
Penalty: $4000, loss of six points and next four games to be played behind closed doors. Plea: Not Guilty Finding: Guilty 2. Dandenong Thunder SC Club Associate, Muamet Abili, is charged with Misconduct / MP 6 (First ‘Serious’ Offence) as a result allegedly making inappropriate contact with the Match Official(s) and/or questioning the decisions of the Match Official(s), while acting in his capacity as a Ground Marshall.
Penalty: $2000 Plea: Not Guilty Finding: Guilty 3. Dandenong Thunder Club Associate, Festim Zekiri (FFA ID: 71446579) is charged with Misconduct / MP6 (First ‘Serious’ Offence) as a result of allegedly directing foul, abusive and/or insulting language and/or spitting on/at the Match Official(s) at the above named fixture.
Penalty: $2000 Plea: Not Guilty Finding: Guilty

Gully won 6-0 vs VTC last night. Include the Mirabella Cup game last fortnight and they've scored 29 goals in their past three games!

Agree with ljubo on that red card. Not a red, yellow at most. That ref was a c##t and a half. Couldn't believe him. When are you back ljubo? Is it the gully game or the one after?
