The newly appointed Football Federation Victoria (FFV) Board of Directors has recently conducted its first workshop.

The Board development workshop was overseen by independent governance consultant Catherine Brown.

The workshop covered areas including directors legal duties and the governance role of the Board, a director’s skills matrix, and best practices in Board effectiveness.

FFV President Nick Monteleone, along with new board members Joe Perri, Steven Milicevic and Lynne Jordan joined current board members Ian Eman-Ammache, Bart Harrold, Annette Hughes and FFV CEO Mark Rendell in the workshop.

This governance workshop is the start of the process that will see the Board review outcomes of the current strategic plan (2008-2011), and undertaking setting the next four year strategic plan (2012-2015) in consultation with the sports stakeholders.

Nick Monteleone said it was an exciting time to shape how football in Victoria moves forward.

“We look forward to the exciting challenge of setting a strategic plan for the next four years, as we experience a huge growth of football players throughout Victoria since 2007,” he said.

“It is our aim to continue to promote the game and watch it continue to grow in the years to come.”

The board, being so diverse in terms of skills, have experience whether a formal qualification or industry experience in the following:
Sports administration
Legal
Accounting and Auditing
Investment and finance
Business Development and Fundraising
Communications and Promotions
Program Planning
Policy Development
Mr Monteleone is happy with the diverse skills that each board member brings to the table, whether formal qualifications or industry experience.

“Having such a diverse range of board members allows us to broaden our horizons in terms of determining the future strategic plan,” he said.

Each member of the board contributes the following experience:

Nick Monteleone has held a number of roles over years as a private business owner. These range from being director of a car and rubbish bin cleaning company to running his family’s Donnybrook Farmhouse Cheese business.

Joe Perri worked at Colonial Mutual Life Assurance Society Ltd for 21 years, managing several marketing and communication departments before setting up his own marketing and public relations firm in 1996.

Steven Milicevic is currently a principal with Milicevic Lawyers and specialises in contract and transactional negotiations. Formerly, Steve was Head of Player Relations with the Australian Professional Footballers Association.

Lynne Jordan is currently the CEO of Family Planning Victoria. She is a highly experienced professional who has a great understanding of Board governance and the role of management.

Ian Eman-Ammache has held senior management roles in the telecommunications industry and has recently moved into real estate.

Bart Harrold has represented the previous Victorian Leagues on the VSF board and has been a member and chairman of the VSF Investigation and Disciplinary Committee.

Annette Hughes has more than 20 years litigation experience in both Australia and the US with expertise ranging from trade practices to corporate responsibility. Annette has had experience in advising some of the biggest companies in Australia in managing risk.
