Skills tests yes or no?

I think coaches are scared of skills tests because the will loose the opportunity to choose their own children or favorite players.
The standard response is that skills tests don’t show game awareness but I think you would select 30 of the top skills test results, for a 15man team and run trials for the final 15 places.

I ran a skills test recently and was not surprised by the result only a little disappointed.

Have others ran skills tests and were the results surprising?
