 We just saw a 43 year old goalkeeper played at the world cup. 45 is definitely fine for a FFA cup game. :d

Interesting Ricky is starting ahead of kuritisi. I guess Ricky form has been fantastic so it is deserved. Adelaide is also not a physical team so I think it will be alright.
Does anyone know if their going to be an audio stream at least?

Frustrating night for us. Did not look lethal at any point of the game...
Brown and Hingert were ripped apart. Don't rate Brown at all, looks half-decent going forward but is absolutely dreadful at tracking back and sticking to his man. Unless played higher up the field, he should not be anywhere near a roar jersey.
We had a few out tonight (McKay, Steffanuto and Smith) but still looks like the biggest concerns are quality and depth amongst the back 4. Contradictory to what people are saying, we don't need another striker - there should be a good enough option out of Henrique, Kurtiši, Solórzano, Borrello and even Danning.

Is this Corey Brown you speak of? That's strange as he was a LB/DM with the Young Socceroos - so he's been a defensive half player for atleast a while now. So you'd think, if anything, his defensive work would be his strength, over his play with the ball?! :? :-k
Disappointing to hear - though in saying that, AU are one of the A-League's better teams, offensively, so they should catch alot of young defenders out!

Was brought into the first team last season when Stefanutto was injured. Played horribly in all of his games IMO, in particular made countless errors against Wellington in Wellington. Deeply concerning that he is second choice LB especially since this will most probably be Stef's last season.

Will need a massive improvement over that effort to make a mark on the HAL season.

But that is why Sarota is such a good signing because of his ultility. I also see him playing as a creative winginger similar to broich when he is not playing. Was Hinget up against mabil? because that kid look to be going places and incredibly quick. I think any defender would have a hard time against him.

We really haven't done well against any a league clubs this preseason which is not good. yes its preseason, but to lose a cup tie with sounds to be a poor effort by the players is very disappointing.

We really haven't done well against any a league clubs this preseason which is not good. yes its preseason, but to lose a cup tie with sounds to be a poor effort by the players is very disappointing. Mike Mulvey won't say it expressly but all the rhetoric leading into this game suggested to me that he wasn't expecting to win, or that he wouldn't be too concerned if we didn't. He said to reporters recently that he "won't be risking anybody in this game" which struck me as a strange thing to say before a competitive match. I suspect we are currently in the back end of a very heavy fitness and conditioning schedule designed to ensure that the side peaks late on in the season and during the ACL fixtures. I also know that there have been a lot of injury disruptions to this preseason and that is likely to leave us disjointed for the time being. The biggest worry is our fullbacks... Ivan Franjic is a loss similar in magnitude to what Matt McKay was after the 2010-11 season and he won't be easy to replace. This is a big year for Jack Hingert and Corey Brown. It looks like Mulvey is trying to cover his bases by bringing in Sarota, but arguably the position most in need to reinforcement is left-back. It wouldn't surprise me if James Donachie eventually becomes Brisbane's first choice right-back this season.

Can't remember anything remarkable he has done other than winning a penalty that won us the game against Phoenix. I don't think Mulvey rates him highly either, I remember after our first two or three fixtures last season he referred to both fullbacks at the time (Hingert and Brown) as woeful. Donachie has played surprisingly well at right back. People will also forget that he gave a great assist to Henrique for the grand final winning goal. However, he's almost 1.90m and I don't think that being that tall is ideal to be a quick and agile fullback.

Hingert should be LB if he is fit.If people remember Franjic was spending most of his time up the park before Hingert was injured last year. I hope Sarota isn't plugged into RB.He is needed in midfield. The big issue is our highline in defence and the fact last year we won many games because the opposition couldn't convert many opportunities in front of goal, when they busted the highline .This year I expect teams to be better at converting chances.Just like AU did tonight. Based on the way Corey Brown played tonight it still baffles me why Ferriera was allowed to go.Brown really is a strange one .When he first made the team he looked good, but just hasn't seemed to improve. He is ok going forward but for a LB he doesn't seem to be much of a defender at all.In fact I would call him a speed bump . The performance tonight must have been bad.It makes you wonder how a team which has played so much Football together can't control the ball.

I don't know why one game that seems the entire team was shit that he needs to be cut. Mabil was showing signs in his cameos last year was something special. I think it going to be his season to shine. Hopefully he doesn't get injuried. I think mabil is going to make fun of a lot of the a league FB this year. Only way is that the ref lets the FB hack him down. This preseason and now Theo gone hasn't filled me with confidence about this season. Our fitness was on par with the CCM, were season past we are always fitter than the other team. The comment by mulvey not caring got me deeply disappointed, FA cup is a competitive competition you want all your players firing, not we are conserving ourselves.

I don't think it's 'not caring' per say, more that it's a low priority. Prioritising league and Champions League fixtures above domestic cups is a worldwide phenomenon. The prize money on offer probably isn't enough to risk the health and fitness of a limited squad already facing a long season. This would be better suited to your Perth's and Adelaide's who don't think they can win the league but still want silverware. From his Simon Hill interview it sounds like MM is chasing 2 more full time pro players. Dream signings would be Herd and Ruka/Babalj. Herd is obviously out with the Bolton move. An fb And striker should be priority 1 and 2. Edited by roary's mane: 24/9/2014 03:53:59 PM

I went to Perry Park for the first time today and while it is a rather dated suburban ground, it is in a prime spot. If the club ever harbours an ambition of having their own stadium, this is the spot to have it. Plenty of space, right next to Bowen Hills station and already zoned as a stadium. It would be awesome if the Bakries bought up the property and developed it into a 25k stadium just for us.

Its becoming our training centre next season (after upgrades from the AFC) all the administration has already moved in. It will be great in my opinion. Everyone should get down to Goodison Park this wednesday. As I'm pretty sure sarota will be playing and if all a bit worried about how we are going you can have a better look on Wed.

Kurtishi bagged 5 goals and Sarota came on in the 2nd half. Understrength Olympic side?
By now, American Samoa must have realised that Australias 22-0 win over Tonga two days earlier was no fluke.
