+xMust say, I'm very pleased with the re-signing of Mat McKay. Whilst Kristensen was deservedly MOTM on Sunday, it was encouraging to see Mat in the 90th plus minute haring across the ground chasing the ball to snuff out a potential Adelaide attack. With our shortcomings in the middle against Thailand, I cannot understand why he is not still in the Australian set up, especially when Jedineck is continually picked. Because McKay never played for victory.

+x+x+xWell done Mr. B. Not a lot of work for you to do on this up until R10 though hey 😉 :laugh:Yea, I really wanted to update it earlier but as the Roar were only scoring like a goal game I thought I would wait a bit. Good thing we put on a show last game :) The passes finally clicked on Sunday. Great game, and thanks for the video. As annoying I find him petrat really helped in midfield. When you consider kristensen is the only New player that started in that game. I think players like Holman needs to work harder to be in our system. I think kristensen has been a far better player than corona. He may not have that killer pass, but he has fixed up the midfield defence and his runs from deep to attack the goal are far more effective for goal scoring.

Petrat found acres of space and actually used it to good effect on Sunday, which was a plus. And when we pick a player as a DM, it helps that he does defend. I was overseas last year but it seems that Kristensen is a straight swap for Corona, and the latter's defensive skills seemed (from what I saw/heard on the internet) to be lacking, so definitely agree there. To me, Oar is a new player though on the books last year. It seems that JA finally has him playing effectively.

What is amazing at the moment,is Roar have only three Visa players and one of those,Arana is on the bench .Another Broich is almost Australian. So for the ACL,Aloisi doesn't have any headaches, regarding who to choose. I will be interested to see what happens during the next transfer window.

I think this is the first time that you could take a visa players in a side and go yes they could win the league. Every other team remove the visa players, they lack a lot of quality especially in the play maker and striker department. I think kristenson has added a lot, with his goals getting us points in the last few rounds. But with a few changes in how we paly to say 2 holding midfielders, we could easy say, this roar side could do very well.

Roar always playing Jekyll and Hyde. Look like the best team in the competition in the majority of home games. Look like a mid table side away from home.
To the above, Broich is your club legend, likely to retire at the Roar.
Kristensen is likely to be another player we steal from you......

Good weekend to jump into the top 3. Hopefully we repeat the form of round 3 and snag a win!!! Of course if there's a draw in the derby, we could (should) move to second.

+xGiving away 19 corners against the bottom of the league team got me rather worried, Yeah its bad, but a lot where from blocking shots or cutting out passes. We where basically killing their supply lines. They never looked close to scoring on a corner which is a massive improvement from last year. The fact they had 19 corners, lots of shots on goal, with like only 3 i think actually getting on target. Shows how strong the defense was dealing with the pressure.

Conceding corners against short teams is not a worry ,but against tall teams could be problematic.

If we're down to complaining about the number of corners we concede we're in a good place lol 😂

Gosh we need to find our goal scoring boots. Plus get rid of the long ball to Jamie as our only option. We have trouble scoring. City can't defend. The respective place on the table is diserve.

There's a nice article in the Mail on Roars season to date: http://www.couriermail.com.au/sport/football/a-league/teams/brisbane/brisbane-roar-paying-the-price-for-lack-of-ruthlessness-in-front-of-goal/news-story/0921b4fead9814b239543f52aa4b9418Highlighting we are only 6 goals and 6 points behind where we were at the same time last year (when we were top) but pointing out the obvious gap between the two sides above us. Goal scoring is the issue and Maclaren presents Aloisi with his first coaching challenge - at the moment he is not working but he keeps playing him?

At the start of the season,I thought Roar would finish around fifth. As it's extremely unlikely we will progress to the ACL I don't think there will be a massive drop off in performance, like WSW and AU are going to experience. But SFC,MV&MC are a shoe in for top three. I think PG will be the team that takes fourth. Brisbane ,(Aloisi or who replaces him) will need to think hard about the current squad. .Petrat is is a good squad player ,but is never going to be good enough to be the AM playmaker that opens up defences and scores goals ,he doesnt make runs into the box and is not a standout defender. Oar is not playing as well as many other wingers for other teams.Maybe it's time we took reserves from MV for a change.Austin would be a good option. McClaren can't score all the goals and limits our attacking options. Broich can't continue to play as a winger. We need fast options on both wings. Pepper is a squad player and plugs a hole ,nothing more. When Holman returns we will see if he can make a difference.Apart from one or two games before injury though ,he was all over the place and didnt seem to make the Roar system work. We need goal scorers and options off the bench. We are at the halfway point,so it's fair to say something has to change,as we are not top two material.

+xDeleted Tweet Pressure getting to Jmac ? Poor guy doesn't understand what happened in the pass doesn't matter. What happens in the current season is all that counts. At the moment doesn't diserve a start. His agent screwed him up going public with his dealings.

Going on twitter and responding to Marco of all people shows it must be getting to him, sadly for the Roar he is the only scoring option.

It's not like he's not getting chances to score. But he missing so many good chances to score. His contact talks and Brisbane prospects would be entirely very different. At the moment he needs to commit or fuck off.

So three losses on the trot .. conceding 8 goals...
I think north has made a few too many little errors this season. physically he looks a half a yard off the pace of the game. if there had to be a scape goat in defence its him. with thwait again being linked to an a league return I think he is a player we should be going after.
also that is the second game we failed to break down ten men for over 30min. dimi , although he scored a cracker, takes too many touches in those situations when we need to be moving the ball quickly and speeding the defence . he also shoots too often from distance.

You bring up why I dislike petrat. He kills so many attacks with his touches on the ball. Or opts to dribble when players around him are making their runs. He kills the attack everyone is either offside or static on the defence line so he takes a low percentage shot.
Jmac was totally ineffective. Arana was making more options for the Roar.
Not sure why he is persisting with Theo. He just so bad at stopping the long range shots. His mistake have led to goals to often.
