Power flattered by scoreline given our dominance outside the first 20. Aloisi's only concern shoould be why we didn't convert all the possession/territory in the 2nd half into goals, it was a procession of roar attacks. A few dot points: - Jack Reardon was excellent, Hingert was not
- Thought we looked better in the 2nd half with Calletti instead of McKay
- DWH and Leck (while he was on) looked dangerous down the right
- Ricky was a constant threat, and shouldn't have let Taggart push him off the pen
- Briggs is good enough to play in the HAL. That's based on having seen him play a lot more than tonight btw

My only comment is we shouldn't be conceding 2 goals against NPL sides after two months training.I am sure there will be lots of excuses. But come on ,we should be solid at the back and aiming for clean sheets first up and developling attack from there. Any comments on our dysfunctional midfield?

@ crimsoncrusoe
Midfield was pretty good, as was the attack apart from the finishing (which was the same problem in the ffa Cup). TK and Mauk will be able to run that midfield pretty well - I personally think we were better when Mckay was replaced by Caletti though.
In terms of “conceding two”, meh, both goals were a fluke - the first the wind got it, the second a long range drive. You just have to look at the other results (in and out of the FFA Cup) to see these dudes are no pushovers anymore.
For me the big concern is finishing and more so defence, Reardon was terrific today, so was Pepper when he came on. Ingham was poor and Hingert average.

The problem is Ingham is he was a winger his whole career and we had an injury crisis at FB so he was given a crack purely because he's a wide player by JA. Had a great first game where he showed great attacking instincts for a fullback (because he's actually a winger) and was fast. He's been pegged as a fullback ever since but the role isn't natural to him and he's a poor defender. He should be used exclusively as a RW or LW imo and forcing him into this fullback role is killing his career.

@ BrissyRoo
To be fair to JA and the coaching team they’ve decided that Ingham is better suited to wing back than winger, and that’s not unusual in football - where his actual best position is might be debatable but JA and Co have decided it’s wing-back.
I actually have no problem with that as Ingham is not going to displace Bautheac, Mikkelsen or Ricky from the wing, he’s just not, and the repurposing of a winger to wing-back is standard practice - the really good ones (like Craig Goodwin) can alternate between both positions.
But I think Ingham is probably gone from Roar in the next year, he’s okay but is he able to step up?

BAck up right back seems to be the biggest problem at the club. Ingham (from the little i have seen) needs a lot of work. He has been taught how to jockey properly and hold up the player. It seems to be a common problem wi th most modern players and i have no idea why. It is the easiest position to teach a player how to play, yet across the country it is probably our most problematic position.
I wouldnt mind seeing Shannon Brady given a go there. He seems to have most of the skills to play there and he is never going to get a run in the midfield. At his best, Hingert is one of the best in the competition, but he hasnt been at his best for quite a while.

Hingert occasionally has a barnstorming game but generally makes a lot of poor decisions and seems to get lost ball watching regularly. I like Hingert as a bloke and clubman but don't really rate him as a player . He always seems like he is a very good NPL player who has stepped just above his pay grade into the A-League . I know many do rate him but I am not one of them. Squaddie at best for me .Having said that...I realize in a capped league you can 't have all good players so maybe he allows us too have a Mikkelson or Kristensen ?

Vote on FFA plans for music during Roar games (free kicks, goal kicks, subs, corners etc) here if you’re interested: https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=2046863672045961&id=1361064053959263

There gonna be a new signing there on Wednesday do we think? On the plane tonight and he'll be there in time!
I feel like we've left this last signing too late tbh. Screams of visa/fitness issues like we had with Eric and a nice excuse for JA.

Roar (under Pourre) always like to keep tight lipped on signings until they are a done deal. They don’t like rumours and speculation for some reason.
So it’s entirely possible that there’s a signing to be announced. Equally, maybe not.
My personal view is Flamini is like a bad date - says yes but can never give you an exact day and time for the date. I now think this last slot will get left until January now, go and pick someone up that fills a gap then.
In itself that’s not a bad plan, I watched Caletti on Saturday night and he’s got his mojo back so won’t mind seeing more of him, and TK is just a beast.
We’re going to have a good season I recon, but I still think we’re one signing short of top 2 at the moment.

JA won't drop him unless we have a marquee. And by the time we get to January it'll take a new signing 'a couple of months' to get up to speed and the seasons over. Also dont have many players being released midseason by teams. It's now or never for us tbh. I'd rather they made it clear someone is coming in or that they aren't to end speculation either way, as well, especially since they've obviously said they're talking to players. I like the bad date metaphor btw 😂

@ BRFC92
There’s no official numbers but it seems to be something like this:
Perth, Adelaide, Newcastle, Gosforth - a handful at best.
Melbourne is the largest - 600-800
Sydney is about 200 as best we can tell. But spread everywhere
There’s bound to be more but they’re the numbers active through the various FB pages and will turn up to games.

Interesting Melbourne is the highest. That’s actually quite a large number. Sydney is a little disappointing.

Melbourne is the more organised area which is why it’s the largest. It’s also a preferred away day for many which encourages those living local to attend.
Sydney could probably match it but for whatever reason it’s never got organised. The group there is just about to get reformed with a volunteer sticking their hand up to coordinate things.

Or if you have a stick up your ass.

Any final night before predictions? I'd really love the second kit to be bold like a bright pink or traditional Brisbane blue and gold. Maybe some cool textures. Hope the GK kits aren't green or silver - want colours that pop there as well

Surely tomorrow night is about the away kit, think we're all agreed that a signing announcement is unlikely. I'm going for black as the dominant theme, though how it's worked I'm not sure about, as the players complaints re the previous all black kit being too hot must carry some weight, especially playing in Bris in February

@ BRFC92
Fan groups had a rehearsal at Logan tonight. I asked the question when kit would be on sale and the answer is a limited number would be for sale tomorrow night at the launch and Rebel/Umbro would confirm store and online sale date which would not be “for a while”.
