+x+xYou would think with Covid, there would be some overseas talent looking for some Covid relief here. Urena wasnt a big scorer and that hurt CCM,just as Kudo being i effective hurt us.Any team that can find a striker with 10plus goals a season is a contender. Thats what CCM and Roar need. Yeah, agree with this. We need a consistent front man, no disrespect to DWH but I don't think he should be our front man. More of a second striker or something similar. We should absolutely expect 5 - 8 goals from players like DWH and Danzaki but we really need a number 9 just in the middle adding 10+ as well. Hell, I don't expect a J.Mac just someone who can consistently score every other game or so. For me that was the difference in so many of our draws this year and therefore challenging for a top two spot. Sad to see Gillesphey go but get why, wish him all the best. The silver lining is we wont haver to watch him play for another A-League side just yet. Also I'm a bit mixed on Champness atm. No doubt the kid has talent and has absolutely had some brilliant moments but he also spends a lot of time being largely anonymous. Where as players like DHW and Danzaki are always busy and creating for others even when they're on a dry spell.

+x+x+xWe need a Macca /Davilla type player to control ,feed attackers and score.Presumably a Visa player. A new striker as DWH can move across the forward line. Having Champness and Danzaki with DWH was great for fast counterattacking ,which we did well. But when teams sat back on us,the boot was on the other foot. RA and JoS were effective but not good enough to breakdown defences,Not an easy task for any team. But for Roar who regularly concede first, food for thought. Trewin slots in for Gillesphey and is needed as he looks the fastest/most mobile of the back three. It would be good to keep JCP or loan him out,as its entirley possible Aldred could be getting more injuries. Apparently Uerena from CCM is out of contract. He would fit the bill. He definitely would fit the bill and would be a good signing but I prefer teams not poaching high profile players. Uerena is a big part of why CCM did so well this season, I think it is bad for the league to go and take them. Its also bad for the club as you dont need a scouting network or anyone outside of the head coach to make that decision, outside opinions keep head coaches on the ball and can make them look at players differently which is good practice. I would prefer that the roar only look at inter a-league transfers for young players or players that are not being fully utilised like neville. leave the poaching to Victory, City and Sydney. because when you ruin your scouting network you end up bringing in players like victory did this season. fair comment.

Also have to add, despite the last two games (the only ones I was able to get to all season, I’m not bad luck I swear) I think the season was a success. We were a whisker away from the top 3 after a ridiculous run of games, a bit of luck and we probably would have finished third and for mine third is a successful season.
I don’t know if the move to Redcliffe was a success, the schedule made it impossible for us to sell out some games particularly towards the end of the season when excitement would have been building, and that is how we should be measuring how that move has gone. Hopefully the club will let us know if we ended up making money on match days instead of haemorrhaging cash like we would have been at Suncorp. We really do need that 15,000 seat stadium in a central location though.

+xI would dump brindle south. Yesterday reminded me of the gulf in class between him and hinget. I would keep Burke Gilroy as he still developing. Brindle south will be 29 next season. Be interesting to see with danzaki moon said they definitely want to keep him. Dwh needs to sort out his goal scoring or I think look to be more of a team player. I actually like everything that he offers up front. He just hasn't got his shooting boots for half the season. He creates so many chances. agree with brindel-south. I dont know why we resigned him, and for 2 years. he is only 2 years younger than hingert and is clearly not any better. the second goal yesterday came because he delayed on a pass then gave up possession way too easily. If you are going to sign a RB get one that is clearly better than hingert or a youth player that can develop.

+x+xWell, the year is over. The big problem this year was the non performance of Kudo. With such a reputation, a lot was expected of him. The club needs an efficient goal scorer. We don't have one. Funny that our troll, AnthonyC thinks we are blind to the obvious! The second big problem was the fluffed lines by Redmayne in our 1 all draw with SFC. DWH could justify his long odds shots on goal from outside the area because that one snuck over the line via Redmayne. Yesterday, again, he sprayed the ball from too far out to the chagrin of players around him. Hopefully Moon gets him to play for the team next year. Unfortunately, though, yesterday he wasn't the only one that thought they could be a hero! Anyway, we did better than expected from the majority of pundits, and there is significant hope for next year. All the best :) Agree, we were excellent defensively (until that final) but we were definitely not good enough up front. The only player who exceeded expectations in front of goals was Riku, DWH was good at the start of the year and was on track for a 15 goal season but hit a rough patch and for whatever reason could not buy a goal, Champness wasn't good enough maybe a bench player long term but not worth a starting role for mine, and we really need our midfield to become a bit of a threat they were fantastic defensively and in the middle third but we need some goals to put the opposition defences in two minds. So looking at our squad I think we lose: Gillesphey (Back to England, hopefully League 1), Riku (Back to Japan), Kudo (Release), Golgol (Release), Powell (Surely he isn't going to hang around), Burke-Gilroy (We don't need 3 right backs, but would be a handy squad player if someone needed a RB) Champness (return to Newcastle). Assuming those are the only losses and we can hold onto JCP that should Moon plenty of space to improve the squad without compromising the strengths we already have.We really need a skilled attacking mid/winger who can take on players and beat them regularly. DWH definitely suffered the most from Mcdonalds exit. having a creative ball player high up front is what DWH needs to be able to score. DWH makes some very smart off ball runs but needs someone to find him because he is not big enough to impose on a big CB or quick enough feet to trick them. having scotty up front who was very good at finding a pass really helped DWH. Champness doesn't know how to pass, riku is too quick so the room for DWH to make runs into is not there and oshae is way too deep to be able to play those sorts of balls. this meant DWH had to create his own chances with the ball at his feet with a defensive line that is already set. too much to ask for DWH's skill set. however what he lacked in goals i think he made up for defensively when Smac left. his defensive work load was huge.

All the best :) It was a disappointing end to the season, but still a positive to make the finals again. Totally agree that Kudo being a waste of a foreign spot. With his limited appearances it was difficult to tell if Kuda was past it or the team didn't use his skills to their full potential. Moving forward, I think there may be a high turnover of personnel. Hopefully Moon gets more from the import spots. As far as DWH goes, I really like him as a player and hopefully he can add some more strings to his bow because it's apparent that opposition teams have worked him out. I think a special mention needs to go to Corey Brown. I was one his biggest critics when he came back, but he has proven to be one of the better players by the end of the year.

Anyway, we did better than expected from the majority of pundits, and there is significant hope for next year. All the best :) DWH was definitely not the only one, and definitely not the worst offender but our deficiencies this season has been a lack of threat from our strikers. 7 goals from DWH and 2 goals from champness is no where near enough to be a championship team. I love the guy but i think DWH has given all he can give for the roar as starting striker and either has to be content as a substitute, battling for time against parsons or needs to move on. we need a 15+ goal striker. Champness offers very little to the team as a starter, parsons is a way better player, so i hope that champness's loan does not get extended. looking forward to next season, it is likely that gillesphie leaves, JCP wants more game time so possibly will loose him. Kudo, champness, and Mebrathu will all likely leave. Danzaki is 50-50 as to whether we get him back or not. daley and akbari i am unsure of their contract lengths but i would say are likely to stay but possibly loose one of them. so probably looking at having to fill 1-2 defensive players, 1-2 midfielders and 3 forwards Trewin has shown that he is more than capable of playing at this level, and hopefully JCP re-signs to play the same role trewin did this season. then all we need is a youth player to come through or sign a back up player. mattie Steinmann was rumoured to have signed for us which would be a big plus, if we dont get danzaki back we will need a "best in league" attacking mid/winger and a 15+ goals striker and a bench attacking player.

+x+xDo you think match should be at Suncorp? Given that we could be having an outbreak. Don't think it matters. If we the final definitely. But at least the atmosphere will be great at Redcliffe. We might only got 15k at Suncorp which might break even with. While you would be making money at Redcliffe. Suncorp is hands down a better atmosphere for football just as a big event environment. There is something about walking in to Suncorp that makes a game feel big that Redcliffe cannot replicate. But then the crowd numbers step into the equation. Suncorp with 10k is empty and barren. Even 15k is quite empty. Redcliffe with 10k is rocking and exciting. I would have preferred this game to be at Suncorp. It would give long suffering Southside fans a chance to come to a game that they may not have had all season and IF we could have brought in 20+k people like a preliminary final usually does it would have all the atmosphere of the big event. EDIT: And as lolitsbigmic mentioned - thanks to more ignorant f'king "We hate you cause you're Victorians" there is every chance the game will be behind closed doors and locked down anyway.

+xI am still waiting to hear back about my reserved seating for the game on Sunday and at this stage I have not got tickets or had confirmation that I will. Frustrating as hell with only an answering machine to talk to and an email address that I have already sent my request to. I have drafted and deleted emails all day - not wanting to add to the workload they are no doubt battling to clear. Just in case others are in the same boat - patience, patience, bloody patience... WOOHOO! Phone call received - all done in seconds. Glad I am not working there - respect to the team working through this.

+x+xI ended buying one ticket in the eastern stand in equivalent position. So at least I can go back to that. But so friggin annoying that I can't get my usual seats. I do enjoy the crazy Brits in pod 11. I've emailed and called and got nothing. So I'm not holding to much hope. yeah he is good value, im usually a few rows down from him. though does get on my nerves a little when he doesnt "get" the slow build up play. no point trying to play a miracle ball forward when we dont have the numbers forward, better to play backwards, keep possession and run our known rotation to get get forward in my opinion. Agree with it all. The not understanding posession gets on my nerves to. It's like dude they been parked in our half for 5 minutes. The last thing you want to do is pump it long and give it back to them. But still good for a laugh.

Dodgy process is the problem. They are reserving all our season seats for 48 hours which means the seats on offer from "1:00pm" today are the seats that do not have a member allocation. That basically excludes all the good seats that we would want, including our own. How and when they open up our member seats fro public consumption I have no idea - but it cannot be before the 48 hour window closes - so on Wednesday morning all the good seats will come on the market. Poorly thought out and actually unfair on members because they are meant to be offering us half price seats - but only in areas and seats that none of us wanted to be in during the season. So we either pay full price or we get to have half price seats where we don't want to be. Excellent reward program. Another victim of the short scheduling this season - cannot afford to leave the ticketing closed to the public for 48 hours until they know what seats are free. I have emailed for our regular seats. Might be worth emailing the Roar email address if you got Pod 9 by mistake and asking if they can intervene and change them to your own seats. I'd say it can't hurt - but it could mean stuffing up your entire booking and getting nothing if things go as wrong as the 10am ticket sale this morning.

+x+x+x+xEmail just come through with a code, got my tickets, now I can relax. one of my member numbers is not working and the other only allows tickets in the away bay and behind the away bay yeah when i put my membership code it didnt give me my usual seat... So i am going out on a limb and sending them an email like they said. Along with the other 1000s of members i guess. If i don't get what i want by later tonight ill just get what ever. i got it working but ticketek did a dirty trick where after clicking on pod 11 (where my usual seats are) it loaded the seat map for pod 9 without letting me know. i didnt realise until the confirmation email which is disappointing. right down in the corner instead of my usual tickets on half way :( for the same price mind you (at least they were only $25) its doing the same as me. Kind of annoying the system broken, and a little more nervous due being a final with bandwagoners and smaller stadium. Wouldn't care less at suncorp as it so big and all seats are good. Redcliff if you are low down on the western stand you will be staring at the back of the benches most of the game.
