Dunno why there's so much Kurz hate, he'd easily be the best coach Brisbane will be able to attract.

Plenty of Adelaide fans glad to see the back of him over his style of play, and Kurz’s coaching record is below Average. There’s nothing to suggest he round do well at Roar tbh.

There’s nothing to suggest he round do well at Roar tbh. Hardly any of our fans wanted to see him go and Kurz is very popular. Val actually did a poll a couple of months ago and 92% from memory wanted Kurz to stay. His record is actually pretty good. His win percentage at Adelaide is 48% which is the equal best in the club's history (Tied with Gombau and Kosmina in his first stint.) Judging his style of play is unfair imo as he has rarely had a decent or fit striker as well as lacking a 10. He transformed Adelaide from a basket case to a competitive side and has a decent record with Visa players (Adlung, Absalonsen, Boland and Jakobsen are examples of this). Having said that he has signed some flops in Matmour and Ilso.

At best Kurz is an enigma, at worst a loose cannon.

Since Ange we’ve had Rado, Mulvey, Theijsen, Aloisi and Davies. Only Aloisi was given the time and the resources needed to be honest.
So Ange did set the bar high and none of the successors have come even close, Mulvey had a great season but then stuffed it all up (as he did at mariners) with problems behind the scenes, disputes with players and open disagreements with fellow coaches.
But Ange isn’t coming back, he’s staying in Japan. And that’s a point worth considering - Roar aren’t hiring a coach of Anges caliber and experience, they’re hiring a coach of the same caliber/experience to Ange when he ARRIVED at Roar (not the one that left or the one we see today).
Whatever qualities Ange had back then (hunger, passion, vision, determination etc) are a rare combination. Rudan is probably the only name domestically that seems to fit that kind of description .... he seems to be a “man on a mission” and I’d say that’s the kind of traits (or a combination of those kind of traits) that Roar should be looking for.
Does Kurtz fit that bill? Not for me, he’s over-trained his squad to achieve fitness but it comes with a long injury list and players like Goodwin look to have nothing left in the tank after a bright start. Kurz just wants a job.
Fowler and Robinson? Who knows.
Darren Davies? He doesn’t come across as a man who’s grabbed the opportunity with both hands and, despite the limitations, is giving it a real go.
Could Stajcic be that man? Hard to say, he became available after the search began but should at least have been considered.

No to Kurz. Adelaide play uninspiring football under him and I would hate to see it brought to Brisbane (we've had enough uninspiring garbage dished up over the last couple of seasons).

Who said “later this week”.
And no, it won’t be Joyce or Kurz, both have produced dire football (like Aloisi) and they wont t risk that again.

Gees now you are asking hard questions ...I think it was on either facebook or twitter. It was link to an article from somewhere. There are so many football writers out there. Aas a long article on Fowler and also mentioned Kurz but said Fowler was thought to be the front runner and that it was believed the announcement would be made later this week. the article had piccies of Fowler at Suncorp with Mc Kay (not sure where that photo came from ). The whole thing is probably the usual baseless speculation .

All good. I think this is the third week “by the end of the week” has been mentioned. I’m not sure each writer hasn’t just regurgitated the previous weeks article lol

Hames Jetfield.......its not about us all winging....its about all the frustration we feel about the time it has taken to make this appointment. We are frustrated as we have been a club who raised the Aleague standards, which was good for all clubs, who wish to follow in that mould and now here we are a club with good youth and women's but the men's team, which is the shop window and pays the bills, is not functioning and the club can't decide on a coach. thats what we are winging about !!

Marco reporting that we are set to play the same XI as last week. Makes sense, given how awful we were.... Let's hope he is wrong and Davies tries something different.

@Mello-D
“Let's hope he is wrong and Davies tries something different.”
What would you do different though? He’s kinda got 13 fit adult players plus some kids, there’s not a lot of “different” he can do surely?
I would start D’Aggers but not with any great hope, he’s been poor this season but maybe he’s on a late season roll?

Obviously the squad is thin and not a lot can change, but surely we can put Daggers upfront with DWH, and get Caletti in for Kristensen?

Caletti seems to be well out of favour. If Caletti was staying on next season I recon he’d be playing more.
D’Agers I would start as well but yo be fair, he has been poor when played this season.

“Giving the inexperienced Fowler a major coaching job has polarised opinion in Australian soccer, with seasoned local managers like David Mitchell, Frank Farina, Gary Phillips and John Kosmina all without A-League gigs” Must be quote of the year so far , Phil Moss?

For one not play 5 at the back, that was probably the stupidest move i have seen a coach make. secondly i would try my best to play each player in their preferred position instead of out of position. that would mean not playing leck at right back (he did reasonably well there but he is not a defender) or DWH as a winger. young nigro pepper tongik powel mckay lopez eric daggs ricky DWH I would actually break one of my rules and would like to see Pepper Mckay Tongik Powel callettie lopez eric daggs ricky dwh simply because i dont think nigro is up to aleague standard but thats not going to happen

I agree with you on Nigro. I thought he was a decent “squaddie” when he arrived but he has been shite this year ... to be fair to him though, the Aloisi machine has done that to a few players now.

Has Caletti been played as an AM before? Apparently Powell didn't travel with the squad. Couldn't train properly due to exams.
Young Leck, Pepper, Tongyik, McKay Eric, Caletti, Nigro, Ricky Daggers, DHW
