It looks a weird one. I checked his transfermarkt stats and it has him at CF for the last three years with the occasional game st right or left Mid. 

Theres nothing in his stats to suggest why Fowler/Grant would be interested in him? 

Equally it can’t be a random act, and he’s under contract for one more year and UK websites are talking about a transfer fee and Shrewsbury “cashing in” on him ... don’t they know we don’t do transfer fees lol.

I guess it could also just be a rumour....if Fowler is really looking at him then he must have a reason.I am sure he has either been recommended or Fowler (or his 2IC ) knows something about him.

In the past past we’ve tended to hire visa players on the trusted word of a scout (Rado most successfully), DVD evidence (a long list of failures) and based in their CVs (Mikklesen was disappointing but had a decent CV). 

So totally hit n miss but hopefully Fowler and Grant have eye balled these players and have a plan. 

I am hoping this is the season I finally renew my membership after 3-4 years (been a member since season 2)...it has been a long struggle with off field issues (which finally were sorted after Poure came back in) and the ever present on field issues brought about by the Aloisi brothers.

Renewing my membership will be dependent on the next few weeks and the caliber of signings Fowler brings to the club and how the club approaches the FFA Cup. If we treat the cup as just another pre-season friendly, a think this will be a sure sign of the direction the club is taking under Fowler (unless there are a couple of epic signings...xD).

Yeah kinda my thinking as well. I guess we will start seeing more over coming weeks after the announcements and then seeing them play .

I think anyone hoping for big name/marquee signings this year will be disappointed. 

Personally I do not want any ...rarely do big name signings mean Premierships . They are just a sugar hit for early season crowds.
Better to get some solid consistent performers who have not hit the heights and are still hungry for some success.

Some interesting facts about Aaron Holloway's last season.
He played every game.
He played mainly in a 442.
He rarley played a full game.Half the time he was starting on the bench.
The team seemed to have five forwards that were constantly rotated
Holloway was one of the two most used forwards.
After scoring three goals in five games ,the forward two/one changed almost every week.


He is over 6ft 2in and looks a bit like K Yeboah.

Hopefully Fowler is a shrewed judge of a player not being utilised properly.

If the Aldred rumour is true as well,I hope Fowler knows what he is doing with Visa spots,because wasting them on cheap average foreigners from lower leagues is pointless.They need to be much better than what we have.

Honestly, I want to be positive. I think the rumoured Australian signings seem decent. The visa rumours though certainly do not inspire confidence. I'd feel a lot better if these guys were standouts in league 1, but it seems like people are happy to see the back of them. 

Hopefully Fowler will be proved a genius. It'll be pretty amazing if he manages to pick up 5 visa players from league 1 and 2 and they are all absolute gems that have somehow been passed over for chances at a higher level for their whole careers. 

Looking like we'll be buying memberships again this year after a couple of years absence. Hopefully the Fowler influence produces the goods.

I hear ya Miron but a couple name signings can bring the people back to the games, that might otherwise stay away, and for me a fuller stadium has to be a bonus. 

If so we can only hope they perform.

for example players like Joe Ledley 32, Johan Cabaye 33, victor Anichebe 31, Steven Ireland 32, Gregory Van Der Weil 31, Rohan Ince 26, Danny Guthrie 32, Nico Kranjcar 34?, Leon Best32, Sammy Ameobi 27. All without teams, and there must be heaps others out there.

I don't know why, but the Aaron Holloway rumour has really depressed me.  He seems an underwhelming target to say the least.  I hope I am wrong.

I take comfort from the memory of comments slagging off the signing of Berisha (journeyman), Broich (flop) and Paartalu (the Scottish SECOND division ffs!!) amongst a few signings that raised eye brows back in the day. 

The difference was a coach  who had a plan. Let’s hope Fowler does too.
