Yes you can spread the brand across Asia but at this stage I don't see much value in that. I'd prefer us to spread our name across Asia via the ACL, once we've achieved success in that competition look to go on these tours.
From a footballing perspective, I think a tour like this can bring the team closer together but that's about it. It's really just a big holiday and I doubt that we'd be able to work on our tactics or fitness that well either.
I think at the moment we're doing the right thing. Looking at our own backyard and growing bonds with the local clubs. Lets grow our brand in Brisbane first and then look to expand. I can't see the point in it at this stage, spend the time and money in the local community, to a degree we hardly have a brand in Queensland, forget about spreading in Asia.

I hope you guys can all make their Fan Forum.
If you can, do us a favour and ask, if you weren't going to already, questions relating to:
- In reference to Victory's big pre-season friendly, big crowd it drew and too Roar's big games of the past, i.e. Celtic's visit, would Roar be considering once more to host a similarly big drawing kind of pre-season game, to not only draw a packed Suncorp, but also widen the exposure of the club within it's immediate and wider market? the visits of Man U and Liverpool also proved you can make a buck and even a significant impact on the local economy through such visits. Govts. have chipped in too. And we see 'these days', re: Liverpool and Man U games, that Commercial TV networks are willing to pay $1M to broadcast just one of these games! Worth considering - especially as the impacts could be similar in Australia's third biggest market that is Brisbane and it's wider surrounds and the 52k top class facility that is Suncorp would be well adequate to host such a fixture!
- Memberships. re: Their present membership drive/goal and 'how' they intend to achieve it, what measures? Also, mention how concerns have been expressed, including by existing Roar members over the 'relative' pricing of the memberships even compared to many other A-League clubs, LET ALONE, the Broncos. Mention how Tinkler has subsidised the Jets memberships to a degree and how even SFC's memberships are relatively cheaper and they too play in an 'over-sized' venue. You COULD add that you know that Suncorp is a premier, large, venue too and that contributes to price/cost, but you've heard that before and IF that's such an issue, then what are the Roar seeking to do about it - what measures, including brinkmanship to leave (For Ballymore?), are Roar willing to take, to negotiate that rent down, so the costs are passed on less to Roar members. Another note: Last time Roar put up the price of memberships circa 2008, is was a PR faux pas of the biggest magnitude - saw many long time members leave and such negative publicity can take long hard work to recover from. Case in point - Gold Coast United!
IF they're serious about 10k members and beyond, they NEED to investigate this and LEARN from their A-League rivals and their own success in this area, via a myriad of approaches - Relatively cheaper memberships, greater campaigning/spruiking about it, esp via Social Media/Internet, greater engagement with local football community and fan days, players on phones, the Mariners and their celebrity members (Mark Waugh 'latest to join the Mariners membership 'cause')... all kinds of novel approaches.
The theme or lesson is, to be pro-active and inventive and you can't meet such relatively ambitious goals (10k, when existing base half that), if your product, what you're selling, is not 'perceived' to be 'cost competitive' even with A-League rivals in similar scenarios (Like SFC and arguably Jets).
~
I know both those two questions seem highly critical and even slanted to be points, rather than questions. But it's context and provides talking points. It also gets to heart of some areas, and may steer them away or pre-empt some of their 'standard' answers and even cop-outs - re: 'price of Suncorp. A-League owners elsewhere are really pulling their fingers out and pulling in the numbers. Proof is in the pudding and they are finally earning the member numbers they deserve, on the back of not only A-League popularity, ADP etc... but as much if not more for their hard work and ingenuity that's gone on for the last few seasons now.
The likes of Roar and Glory can't afford to be left behind. A strong membership core is a proven formula for long term, sustainable, success.
Such questions are only to provide constructive criticism or even investigation as to what the club are actually doing and seeking to do and if some of these points could provide them with 'new ideas'.
After-all, that's what these Fan Forums are for right?! As at times the ones with the best ideas, wisdom, ARE the fans? See the Wanderers and their Fan Forums - The FFA definitely took a few of those things on-board and that's reflected in the style, set up, of the Wanderers club!

Guys, remember the previous government stumped up a good bit of cash for the celtic and everton games too. Newman categorically ruled out making any effort whatsoever for Man U and if there was a team that would have filled suncorp, that was it. It'll be up to the bakries to fund any further games whilst bjelke petersen 2.0 is in office.
I'd rather the club go and visit the coasts, ipswich, toowoomba etc etc and spread the brand locally rather than overseas. However a trip to Indonesia would make sense from a business perspective.

So, that's it then? Surely not? Again, the recent games may've 'proved' the success of the formula? The crowds, interest and even dollars generated. The govts there were nothing but praise and even appreciation for the dollars it brought to the local economy, over that time period.
Next time, and there WILL be a next time (For Sydney and/or Melbourne anyway), Brisbane NEED to get in there and snap up a 'second date' with whatever big side it is - especially IF it's the likes of Barca or some such!
And I hope you guys can ask them something about the Memberships. Obviously it's of growing importance up there, but 'how' to get there may still need some working on - especially with the Roar's past 'poor' record with memberships and their handling of members. There may be different times/owners now, but again, people may forget/move on from 'the good times' quickly, but unfortunately, we fickle bunch, we remember the negative far longer, the 'negative impression' that is (I think that's a marketing 101?)- So, if anything, Roar need to do more to get back any members they may've lost during their A-League spell, let alone grow that pie/base to 10k.
Basically, no point setting such a target to set yourself up to fail and some of the discussions on their official FB page ARE somewhat 'troubling' and hard to argue against, when it comes to the high cost relative to even SFC's memberships.
Roar fans have it as their duty to put the hard questions to the club, especially as the A-League is experiencing this kind of transitional period. Clubs need to make the most of this period - 'make hay, while the Sun shines', as they say!

I haven't read the article that was released by the Roar today but he wasn't signed today was he? I thought it was just letting us know that he was undertaking rehab at the club.
Just had a read, he hasn't signed thankfully

His pace used to be his great asset, which isn't the case anymore, and I just feel he doesnt offer very much else. I like the look of Yeboah and would rather him come off the bench. And didn't Henrique sign a 4 yr extension last year. If so, I just can't see him making much of an impact in the squad over the remaining years.

Not at the Forum but I'll post all of the Q&A's from twitter on here. Quote:Q: What are the clubs specific plans to reach the 10,000 membership target? #RoarFanForum A: (SD) @BneRoarOneGoal program playing big role in building support. 10,000 is optimistic target. #RoarFanForum A: (SD): Tracking for 8,500. Nothing wrong with setting a goal. Good step forward from 2-3 years ago. #RoarFanForum A: (SD) Majority of marketing budget invested into Matt McKay. We wanted to make sure we could bring him home. #RoarFanForum A: (SD) Owners were great, came to table. Strongest push for memberships is successful team on the pitch. #RoarFanForum
Quote:Q: Is the club looking at ways local clubs can support the Roar through including membership in jnr rego fees? #RoarFanForum A: (SD) I think more relevant q is are football registrants getting good investment on the money already being put into fees? Quote:Q: What is the club doing to increase crowd numbers and what is a satisfactory attendance figure in the club’s eyes? #RoarFanForum A: (SD) Comes down to timeframe. This year - 15,000. #RoarFanForum Quote:Q: RAP & @BneRoarOneGoal are good initiatives to engage with grassroots-does BRFC have plans to send players to jnr rego days? #RoarFanForum A: (SD) Players spend a lot of time in community. We are also mindful of their training/football commitments. #RoarFanForum Quote:Q: What steps is the club taking to create a fortress-like atmosphere at @SuncorpStadium, like @wswanderersfc last season? #RoarFanForum A: (SD) Personally, I think the biggest thing we've done is opening communication channels with the stadium. #RoarFanForum A: (SD) Next year, we're looking at partners to help bring price of The Den membership down. #RoarFanForum Quote:Q: I’ve heard Roar may take over QAS, how would that work alongside current arrangement & would it include females? #RoarFanForum A: (SD) Most #aleague clubs would jump at chance to take more responsibility for junior development. #RoarFanForum A: (SD) I also get asked - will we be part of @nplqld? Exhibition games more likely, not competition. #RoarFanForum A: (MM) Youth development very close to my heart. QAS model has become outdated. #RoarFanForum A: (MM) QAS is in situation, crying out for help. Han Berger of @FFA coming to meet with the club in the next week. #RoarFanForum A: (MM) The future is the kids, we will do our best to ensure pathway is there and have the opportunity to represent this club #RoarFanForum A: (MM) Coaching is vital for these kids. We need to develop the coaches. Qld is hotbed of development potential. #RoarFanForum A: (MM): Part of my vision for the future is bringing our own players through, like we've done with James Donachie. #RoarFanForum A: (MM) Players need 44 - 46 weeks a year playing football, improving technical ability. #RoarFanForum A: (MM) We need single line philosophy, 8 - 18 years old then into the first team. Takes organisation and money. #RoarFanForum Quote:Q: What was the main reason for the team’s turnaround at the end of the last @aleague season? #RoarFanForum A: (MM) I'm so proud to be Brisbane Roar coach, my hometown and lived here half my life. Take this very seriously. #RoarFanForum A: (MM) When I first came in, I observed squad and backroom staff. #RoarFanForum A: (MM) We weren't all signing from same hymn sheet. Key players bought into my ideas. #RoarFanForum A: (MM) There was a feeling of entitlement after winning two @ALeague championships. #RoarFanForum A: (MM) Turning things around, massive credit goes to the players. #RoarFanForum A: (MM) We work hard to ensure the orange jersey meant something to everyone who wore it. #RoarFanForum A: (MM) We got close last year through sheer determination and efforts of the players. But we got what we deserved - tears. #RoarFanForum A: (MM) We needed to regenerate. I gave SD a list of 3 players I wanted to bring to club. #RoarFanForum

Quote:A: (MM) Liam Miller was one, Matt McKay was another. #RoarFanForum Expand A: (MM) Those who have seen us play this #RoarPreseason, will see we're playing well and squad is strong. #RoarFanForum A: (MM) I can promise you we will be super competitive this year. #RoarFanForum A: (MM) One thing that is driving us more than anything else is the pain of missing out last season. #RoarFanForum A: (MM) We do it for you. The 3-1 win over @SydneyFC - the atmosphere was unbelievable. #RoarFanForum A: (MM) We want to be accountable, that's why we hold nights like these. #RoarFanForum Quote:Twitter Q: (from @lash74): Any more signings for the next #aleague season or is the squad complete? #RoarFanForum A: (MM) Have to replace George Lambadaridis while we look after his rehab (injury replacement). Salary cap is the issue. #RoarFanForum A: (MM)Our next group of youth players-keep an eye out.Lachlan Jackson,Brandon Borrello,Ben Litfin,@kwameayeboah,Pat Theodore #RoarFanForum A: (MM) They train with us every day and I'm not afraid to bring youth in. #RoarFanForum Quote:Q: (from @ScottyRuss86): What can we do to engage fans who follow @premierleague clubs but turn their nose up at @ALeague? #RoarFanForum A: (SD) EPL have huge following, #aleagueallstars and #MVFCvLFC matches show this. #RoarFanForum A: (SD) I think the SBS/@ALeague deal will be biggest factor this season. #RoarFanForum A: (SD) It will help the @ALeague grow maturity and acceptance. #RoarFanForum A: (MM) I'm a fan too - I want to be entertained! Shinji Ono's goal v us in semi-final was one of best goals of the season. #RoarFanForum A: (MM) You can't beat the live football experience. #RoarFanForum SD: Media coverage via News Limited integration with Fox Sports will also play a big role. #RoarFanForum

Quote:Q: You mentioned you want to educate youth in Brisbane Roar way. What is that style now? #RoarFanForum A: (MM) I gave my coaching staff a task last year - what are the characteristics of a Brisbane Roar player? #RoarFanForum A: (MM) I asked Matt McKay what the changes were since he was here last. He said biggest thing - interchangability. #RoarFanForum A: (MM) I was lucky when I came in - already have an identity. Possession-based football, attacking, playing out from the back #RoarFanForum A: (MM) Style - I want to entertain. Good quality football that gets fans on the edge of their seats, to get excited by. #RoarFanForum A: (MM) As a youngster, I used to sit on the edge of my seat watching Bobby Charlton. I want that for you, our fans. #RoarFanForum A: (MM) It won't always work but we will always try. #RoarFanForum Quote:Q: Will we have a new kit for next season? #RoarFanForum A: (SD) YES! #RoarFanForum A: (SD) We can confirm there will be a third kit. #RoarFanForum A: (SD) When working with our apparel partners, we've been pushing for better quality for the replica jerseys. #RoarFanForum A: (SD) Third kit is experiment in terms of colour and design. #RoarFanForum Quote:Q: Will there be a better range of merchandise this year? #RoarFanForum A: (SD) It depends on supplier but we are working on it. #RoarFanForum Quote:Q: The website is slow to update, online shop has no range and is expensive. There were a stack more questions, one in regards to the club name/logo/colours.
Dobson said there WILL be a third strip this season which will be an experiment in colour and lay out but that orange will always be a part of the club. Also mentioned that club is open to listening to the fans for a revision of club logo in lead up to 10th season anniverasry

I found the rumour that the QAS being replaced by the Brisbane Roar is quite interesting, the sooner all the a-league clubs create there own youth academies the better.
