We played some very good football for large parts of that game.. I love how we cone home with a wet sail and absolutely dominate other teams the longer the game goes on.  Hiring RF was an awesome piece of business by the Roar.  I initially had my doubts, but he's a great coach.

We played some good football in the second half, but I wouldn’t say great. Great football, to me, results in a high number of good scoring chances. We created very few chances, I think we only had one shot on target apart from the goal, which was a tame shot from distance straight at Reddy. The only other clear chances I recall were where AAH shot over the bar, and O’Neill shot into the side netting.
We still have very little creative ability in the attacking third.
The first half was dismal.
Still a good result though, I am looking forward to Fowlers recruits for next season. Hopefully he can get a couple high quality creators/attackers, and some improved defenders so we don’t have to defend by playing 9 at the back in the first half of the game. I am impressed with Fowlers coaching, he is improving each week.

I understand where you're coming from but if we polled both groups of supporters at the 81st minute mark and asked the question "are you happy to finish this game now?" I would wager that most Glory fans would be happy to finish it there and then and take the point. I think most Roar supporters would have said "no, I think the longer it goes, then we'll win"

That’s probably right, I thought the same, but we still need to have much better creative ability, because although we dominate large parts of the game, we rarely look like scoring.

Maybe a Diamanti or a Fall and Rolly in the squad might create/convert a few more chances, but how much has this team improved in the last few months?

Recruitment for next season could make or break the season, we really need that creative player plus one or two more in other positions to take it to the next level.
Just because Brisbane look like making the 6 this season with the current crop of players doesn't mean they will do the same next, teams will know how they play and adapt.
I think after an overall poor quality this season as well, most teams will be stepping it up recruitment wise, plus you have a new team coming in making the top 6 that little bit harder.

I thought there was enough evidence yesterday, especially in the first half, that Perth had done their homework on Roar which we can expect more sides to do.

fundamentally though all sides are left with the same problem - how to unpick a back 5 screened by Dual 6’s, that’s proving tough, even for Perth yesterday.

This side is 4 players short of being really good imo. A top quality 6 who will be able to launch attacks forwards much quicker/better and a mobile 9 with pace and finishing capability.

The two other positions are the wide Mids, Hingert and Brown are serviceable but not able to provide the offensive quality needed. I suspect Jack will remain a starter but the number of times I heard “Corey, Corey ..” from the Roar bench yesterday suggested they weren’t happy with him

(and when did Brown get put on corners? He’s absolutely useless at them!)

I would add a CB to that list instead of a wing back.

To be honest I’m pretty happy with Aldred, Gillesphey and Neville as a back three. I’m not sure you’ll get much better without paying lots more money.

Yep they have a very solid record now (having two screeners certainly helps) .I think Gillsephey and Aldred have both looked pretty good for many games now after a shaky start to the season. It was obvious even early on that our backs were being let down by poor midfield marking. The mids look pretty solid now .
I agree our biggest weak points now are our lack of overlapping wingback skills, a creative mid to unlock the front third and a genuine goal sneak.

PS ...and for what it is worth I reckon if Amadi-Holloway gets a goal he will get 10 . He always looks dangerous when he comes on but just lacks goals.

Sadly goal wise I don't see that happening if we are going by past history stats wise.

Wycombe - 6 goals in 52 games
Oldham - 2 goals in 51 games
Shrewsbury - 2 goals in 30 games

I think AAH is one of those players that flatters to deceive. He has been like this all season - looks great some of the time when he is on, but is inconsistent and ultimately delivers little.

What most of you BR supporters either failed to notice or don't want to admit is that PG played at probably 60-70% knowing that the last 15 mins they would struggle with fatigue, yet what were you able to produce? After the present top 4 the rest of the teams are poor with the exception being WSW, who may have turned a corner.

At the end of the day we need more players who can help with goals next season, some of the current players either need to step it up or need to be replaced.

Ahh, the “Glory will be better when they’re fit” argument. Let’s look at some of the recent games.

Roar 2, City 2. Roar more than matched City.

Roar 1, Nix 0. Same.

SFC 1, Roar 0. Same.

Roar 2, Adelaide 1. Same.

WU 0, Roar 1. Same.

Roar 1, Glory 1. Same.

What you’ve failed to notice is Roar are on a run of only 1 defeat in 9 games and there is literally no team in that run that has outclassed them. They have played every side in the top 6 within that run ... ARE THEY ALL FATIGUED 😂😂

For someone who "delivers little" we always seem to spark when he comes on late . He upsets defenders rhythm. He would be a nightmare to mark  .I agree he hasn't been consistent but his poor games seem to be when he starts . When he comes on late he usually makes things happen and we score .He has very good ball control for a big unit .I still think there is something there if he can jag a goal .Sometimes that's all it takes for a striker to go on a run. We should all hope I am right .

Yesterday was his best game. However he and Scott MacDonald perform similar duties so it’s a case of either or. Both need to be paired up with a recognised striker to my eye

What Roar supporters haven't failed to notice is the constant bullshit posted every tine the Roar match or outplay a team. It would appear this week's excuse is fatigue. Thanks for straightening it out for us. As for the present top 4, only one of them were able to beat the Roar in the last 9 matches. That was Syd, by a single goal.

But keep trotting out excuses, the comic relief is much appreciated.

I agree that both AAH and McDonald perform similar duties. And each of them need a forward partner to do their best work. I don’t think if is any coincidence that Brisbane generally struggle in the first half, as this is when they essentially play with a lone striker. And neither McDonald or Holloway (or DWH or Muratovic) is effective as a lone striker.
I suspect that Brisbane would have done similarly in the second half yesterday if Muratovic of DWH had come on instead of AAH, and McDonald played the role that AAH did with Muratovic/DWH in support. That is, I don’t think it was AAH who changed the game in the second half, more it was the change in tactics by RF that was the key.

BTW that single goal Sydney got was a very dubious penalty where the ball hit Nevilles chest and then his arm ... and then he was sent off as well !!!...so we played with 10 men against the best team in the comp.

Does he create many chances for himself or others, or does he score goals? AAH has not done much of either this season. Unless a striker is doing this, then imo they are not delivering much.

with the players poppa got he should be able to rotate players....he knew these fixtures were coming so is this the excuse now?

come on they are professional athletes....yes  agreed there could be some fatigue happening but mainly with older players and maybe it makes a slight difference at the end but RF blew him away in tactics.

You don’t think Brisbane were outclassed in the first half? They virtually looked like an NPL team. Second half controlled possession and territory (as to be expected) but didn’t do anything with it.

You don’t think Brisbane were outclassed in the first half? They virtually looked like an NPL team. Second half controlled possession and territory (as to be expected) but didn’t do anything with it.

I don’t think they were outclassed and I haven’t read an independent match report that says as much.

The results are speaking for themselves now

WTF are you talking about? Brisbane converted the possession and pressure into a goal.

It was a set piece, they weren’t gonna score in open play.
