+x+xThought we played ok tonight. Problem is when we play the style we play you actually need wingbacks who can cross. Hingert and Brown just not good enough crossers of the ball. I’d reckon there’s no one in A-League history with so little to show for hundreds of balls into the box as Hingert. Aldred's stupid shirt pull gave the only goal in the game. Open play we held our own. We hit the post, and again stuffed up a number of really good opportunities. I don't blame Hingert and Brown - there were enough opportunities in that game to score. Story of the season really - great opportunities but no-one able to step up consistently and take the tap in or reflex shot. Flat finish to a progressively improved season. I would have preferred some open field brilliance by Diamanti to have given them the victory rather than a bloody, bloody, bloody stupid free kick on the edge of the box. Take that out and the game goes to either side with equal chance. For Hingert, put Berisha or JMac in the box and I say we score a lot more than our hit and miss forwards this season. I don’t blame Hingert or Brown for the loss. Merely saying that for guys whose job it is to cross a football to teammates in the box, they are not very good at it.

Overall a big improvement on last year with some promising signs. A couple of better wing backs and a striker will finish us off nicely and see this team with a real chance of silverware. Also, some young players coming through which is very promising.
Moon seems the goods but just a little too nice for my liking. Watching him stand there waiting to shake Rudan's hand while Rudan and his bunch of diving/faking clowns were patting themselves on the back was a little hard to take. He also needs to start getting in the 4th official's face more the next time he encounters these clowns. It might not alter the result, but it might direct their attention to the crap that was going on.

As promised more exposure on the charlatans at the top. Highly unprofessional such a charlatan running our club. There so much more that the players had to deal with reading through this. discrimination part to follow and you can all make your own minds up. Beaten in our first finals game by a 5th placed opponent.
The difference was that they had someone with a bit of an X factor to win the game. We have sterile players all over the park.
"Run harder lads" is insufficient for an entire team as it showed.
In a resort somewhere

These are the Players words...”Poure highly unprofessional” !!“Threatened players”“Difficult to deal with” This needs addressing and nipped in the bud, mate.

It was apparent in the game that a player like Diamanté is a match winner. Not because of the excellent free kick but his overall ability to effect the game in so many facets. anticipation, desire, passing ability and just plain doing the unexpected or doing things other players don't or can't.
Sad to see Brisbane out but I have enjoyed watching Diamanté, you just can't help but like him.
If only Roar had someone like him.
Great for the Aleague.
PS Rudan sucks big time.

Given only Sydney conceded fewer than us, it's clear that our defensive unit is working (although still a bit shaky and desperate at times). If moon can find a prolific striker and another creating attacking player, we could do well next season.

While JOS is an okay player. You can see that as our main playmaker ,he doesnt offer enough on his own to make Roar a serious contender.A step in class below Diamanti ,Ninkovic and others. He is better than anything else we have. But cant score and misses a lot of passes. I feel Roar in the end squeezed every bit of success they could out of the squad available. Virtually every game Roar played ,at their best it was a case of hanging in there and clawing a win. Compare that to other teams at their best, like WU,MC,SFC,WP,NJ,AU,etc.. We need better players to go up a level. With other teams like NJ and AU set to improve,we will struggle to hang on to 4th place next season without changes.

I don't think the covid break and changes did us any favours. Before the break, in 3 subs land, we were one of the thriving and strong clubs - improving consistently and with room to improve further. As I have mentioned previously, I think the 5 subs helped some teams and deprived us of the significant strategic value of superior fitness alone. All guesswork, but without the break to throw out our rhythm we were developing towards the finals as a powerhouse. We did not limp into the finals as it was, but we lost some important elements in our play and had not recovered them properly by finals. Neither here nor there, but having a 'normal' next season (if such a thing can exist) even with the players we have now would see us back on stronger terms. We had a great revival season and through covid we did not actually achieve our full potential - promises great things for next season. Add just a little genuine quality as many suggest and we can dominate the competition. Oh, the expectations that one good recovery season gives us. I for one am prepared to keep my proud orange hopes high.

Young Tilio from Sydney fc or Jack Brimmer from Perth are quite talented creative mids. Even a Kosta Petratos would go ok.

Late to the party but since Wellington cant get in the ACL, does Roar finishing 4th now mean they get a play off spot, due to City and Sydney Fc making the Grand Final?
