The Nix are a really good side just hitting form. For my money, Talay is the best coach in the comp.

Yea, you could tell early on they were a great side, just not getting the results, tough game coming up for us.

Just saw the next two months of games, and both our CCM games are Wednesday's after Sunday games.

I don't care that we have 3 day turnarounds - that is part of scheduling. They should have tried to balance it better so at least one of the games we play them fresh. It is a small thing that is not such a small thing to me. Shows a lack of care and a lack of attention to detail.

Edit: Just for comparison, CCM have 4 day and 10 days breaks before those games.

When I wear their colours, I am the club.

The way WP are playing at the moment we are going to need to start scoring to have any chance.

Very quiet on here lately! Looks like the soft opening draw has given Roar fans false hope, maybe the bookies were right having this team in the bottom 4? Does Moon need to be sacked? does the foreign contingent need to be replaced?  Or will one good striker resolve all issues? A loss against the resurgent Nix and this team could be bottom 2 in no time.

What striker is better for the Roar then?
You have four already in Denzell-Halls, McDonald, Kudo and Mebrahtu.
The gaffa is good for the culture and knows alot of the local players.

I think you’ll find the “other” season has started so this board goes a bit quieter as people balance playing/coaching/volunteering etc

if you’ve watched Roars games and I mean actually watched the games and not just drawing conclusions from results you will see a side that is very competitive and playing some really good football.

Defensively we’re pretty good but prone to brain farts from the likes of Young, Hingert and Brown who regularly cost us a goal in games but we’ve only conceded more than two goals once this season ... and that in a game where we had 2x more goals scoring chances than our opponents.

Defensively we are okay albeit not clinical enough. In attack we have a problem - we can’t finish. DWH is no striker but he is looking like a good footballer but until the players around him start finishing we will struggle to win games.

Overall the current run is disappointing but the biggest concern is whether it impacts confidence and self belief. If it does that’s when question marks over Warren moons leadership should come in.

The best estimates for this seasons finish on these pages were top 4 ( but not champions), to mid table, down to paulc having us finishing bottom with negative points .... so your attempted troll is kinda misplace lol - shouldn’t you be on the Victory page attempting to bait them as they not only told us all they would win the title but they expected to ??? 😄

We are still 3rd best with GA - equal with Mariners on that point. It is the dreaded GF column that hurts us. Funny thing is, Mariners have only scored 7 more goals across 12 games (and we have a game in hand) and they have the best GF in the league.

That sums up the reason I have my ongoing amusement with paulc about converting one more of our already created opportunities each game and being contenders. It is no small thing for us to score an extra goal though.

For those Roar fans who see our defence as weak/brittle, I would suggest we stop focussing on the brain farts and do remember how competitive we are. We are definitely not leaking goals.

For the pointy end - let's hope we see Kudo start this week and show us why he is here.

thekingmb - sometimes people don't post just because they are bored. Most of us on here have already said what we think needed to be said. Most of us tend to agree on what needs to improve in this side so perhaps we are relatively quiet since we don't need to boost our 'number of posts'. Not that far off the 1000 so keep up the good work. Another game and we will have more to talk about.

It really was quite an obvious and poor troll attempt - but thank you for giving us something light hearted to read and respond to between games.

Quality finishing seems to be as much a weakness in your trolling as it is for the Roar ;)

Ha Ha. Nice response.

The “brain farts” in defence will remain a problem until we start scoring of course .... it’s hard to figure out why the goals aren’t there: against WU we created numerous quality chances and it took a MOTM performance from their keeper to stop us.

Had a few people on here after the Victory game when Brisbane were coming second calling out the haters....haters never left!

Said it since last season, its a mediocre team...ladder doesn't lie, regardless of how you play, especially when you have had a generous draw to start the season and a few teams directly behind you with games in hand!

At least you won't get the spoon this year as its reserved for the Victory boys!

Love your work king.  The Roar win and you're as scarce as hen's teeth.  They lose and we can't keep you out of here.  It must be nice having two clubs to follow in the A League - your home club, Glory (a bit of a misnomer don't you think?) and your second team, the Roar.

My question is how to turn our attack around?
What is the strategy to score?
1) quick counter attacks with pace?
Teams can sit back and nullify dwh and co.
Of this is the plan then need a plan b.

2) brown and hingert?
Hingert is not good enough. His final ball is poor. Don't know how many successful crosses he does or assists but I bet low. Brown is better here.

3) play through teams? Haven't got the players to do it. Danzaki is neither one thing nor the other.  Not really a play maker and not a goal scoring mid. Need another mid for this to work.

4) pressing
Id like to see more of this with 5 subs and c would suit dwh, champness etc.

Any thoughts?
I'd rest dwh for one game.  Running at tired cbs might work.

I think our good performances and results at the season start coincided with a good press creating turnovers and attacking opportunities.
When we arent pressing we dont look in control and are subsequently fighting deep in our half to stop the opponenets.
Its pretty much how Ange ball worked. When we pressed we looked good.
Maybe the hot weather has fatigued us.Certainly when we lost to MB’s we were flat.
Maybe Moon needs to improve player management with regards to fatigue.

You’re asking probably the hardest question to answer in football - how to score.

Look again at the WU game and tell me what’s you would change for example. They did everything right, apart from score.

When the opposition keeper walks off with the man of the match award and his performance is described as “world class” what would you change??

I think we have to unsettle their midfield more. Opposition teams are not overly concerned about our attacks so they are not drawn into hasty decisions under pressure.

If we control the ball in midfield, then even if we don't actually control the midfield overall we put pressure on the opposition defenders.

Hold the ball up longer in midfield and players start getting pulled out of shape, then do what we have already been doing but to our own timing. A few seconds for Danzaki and DWH to gather their thoughts more by more dominant play in the middle and we might find the composure we need at the front.

When I wear their colours, I am the club.

Im semi happy with how we are going, apart from ladder position at present.
Its the finishing in the Aleague that isn't of consistent quality.
Whether it's the actual strike itself or the quality of the last pass to put the finisher in a commanding position, or I'm too far out so I'll pass it etc.
i think in Australia we don't concentrate on finishing enough.
And as a coach I'll put my hand up and say yes I'm guilty of that.
we concentrate on all the other aspects of the game and finishing takes a back seat.

Friends of mine who are quality coaches agree that they've also fallen into this trap.
now I know 2 young boys 6 & 4 and their dad has built a beautiful playing area in the back yard with goals and those boys constantly are striking the ball at the net.
Outcome is they CAN finish even a thing that age.

Bris Prem league players from their club which I won't mention, but its a constant contender have said , wow I've never seen kids of that age strike a ball so cleanly.

It's just time and Practice.
Other places in the world the kids are out In the park or street or backyard playing and kicking the ball. Therefore they more likely to produce multiple finishers. Something we don't seem to do.
So if your coaching, don't overlook this important aspect.
We can do everything perfect but if we fail to stick it in the ole onion bag.....

If you dedicated just 10% of the time you spend here posting on the Perth Glory supporters thread, imagine how vibrant and  interesting that thread would be?

Almost as vibrant as this thread was back when your team managed to beat the cellar dwellers early on in the season. What's happened since AOK?

You’d need at least TWO Perth supporters for that to happen 😂

You can't build an attack without a good defence. If we having constant brain farts at the back, that will cause issues going forward because you are always thinking about what is behind you and how to protect it.

Good attacks are built from the back. If we have no clear strategy in defence, it bleeds in to the midfield, and it hinders the attack. Improving our scoring is two fold because our attackers have a lot to work on, but football is a team game and it requires us to be better structured as a team from the back so we build better.

I am definitely now in pessimism zone.
Too many other teams have been stepped up a notch while we have stood still.
Our fullbacks are an issue and we have them strike power of a Lettuce.

Never said they would.

Always said “top 4 but won’t win the Plate” and will stick by that. #InMoonWeTrust

will YOU now concede you’re not a Roar supporter???
