Brisbane Roar fans will now be able to travel to Hyundai A-League and AFC Champions League away fixtures on travel packages organised by the new Brisbane Roar Travel Club.

RoarTravel.com.au has gone live today with official packages to a select number of Hyundai A-League away matches during the 2012/13 season, including the Grand Final re-match against Perth Glory, trips to Melbourne to face both Heart and Victory and the maiden away trip to Hyundai A-League new boys Western Sydney Wanderers.

Official packages for Brisbane Roar’s AFC Champions League campaign will be structured once the draw is announced.

“Brisbane Roar is committed to improving fan engagement and developing products and services that provide an increased supporter experience,” Roar General Manager Sean Dobson said.

“We are delighted to unveil this service which will provide Brisbane Roar fans the opportunity to travel to five of our Hyundai A-League away games this season as part of an official tour.

“It’s vital as a club that we work with our fans and corporate partners to continually improve our service and this is a direct response from requests from our fans to develop something of this kind.”

A Brisbane Roar Travel Club information marquee will be at the club’s Season Launch at New Farm Park tomorrow between 10am-1pm.

Was at training yesterday. Lots of pass and move work going on. The boys were looking good. Didnt like Berisha running too much with the ball. Yuji really impressed me, i think he will do well once he gets a game under his belt, very calm player too. Do looked a bit lost, but other than that, the lads were looking good.

Loved the intensity too. Smith and Steff were laying in to the lads when they messed up. Swearing was just ridiculous, but damn, it was good to see the passion.

Was the best morning ever being at training, how id love to work for a football club.

How often are the training sessions open to viewing Ahmed?

Just found this.

Quote:
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Indonesia's national team set up by the Indonesian Soccer Rescue Committee (KPSI) scheduled to be closed on Saturday (09/22/2012). The team, coached by Alfred Riedl is scheduled to practice again in Jakarta on Wednesday (26/09/2012) next week.

"Today, we are going to practice twice. Tomorrow we're still practicing, then the player will be closed on 25 September," said assistant coach Wolfgang Pikal via short message received by reporters on Thursday (09/20/2012).

National training squad KPSI version centered in Batu Malang, East Java, since 6 September. There are 27 players who are members of the national training. Wolfgang explains, Ahmad Bustomi and friends will follow the national training in Jakarta on Wednesday. "The plan, the exercise will be carried out five to six days," Pikal said.

After practicing in Jakarta, the team will fly to Australia. In "State Kangaroos", they will play four or five trials. However, Wolfgang could not determine opponents his team will face in Australia. Most likely the team will beruji try against Brisbane Roar, a club owned by the Bakrie family.

KPSI version of the national team is prepared to follow the AFF Cup 2012 which took place in Malaysia and Thailand in November-December 2012.

Former Brisbane Roar player weekend roundup.

Tommy Oar started played 92 mins and got an assist in Utrecht's 1-0 win over PSV.

Oar was replaced in the dying stages by Michael Zullo, who is on his way back from injury.

Adam Sarota also started the game and got through 78 mins in the 1-0 win.

Robbie Kruse played a full game and looked dangerous for Fortuna Dusseldorf in their 0-0 draw with Stuttgart.

Kofi Danning started and played 62 minutes for CS Vise in their 2-2 draw with AS Eupen.

Alex Brosque came on in the 57th minute in Shimuzu S-Pulse'1-1 draw with F.C Tokyo.

Matt McKay played a full game for Busan I'Park in their 2-0 home defeat to FC Seoul.

Sasa Ognenovski missed Umm Salal's 2-0 loss away to El Jaish due to a hamstring injury.

Reinaldo and his Beijing Guoan teammates had their home game aganist Henan Jianye postponed.

Issey Nakajima-Farran started and played 72 mins for AEK Laneca in their 2-0 home win over Apollon.

Luke DeVere was missing due to injury from Gyeongnam's 1-2 home loss to Ulsan.

Kosta Barbarouses was missing for Panathiakos 1-0 away defeat to Panthrakikos.

No word if he played or not but Sayed Mohamed Adnan's new team AL Arabi drew 2-2 away to Al Kuwait.

Seems like Bob Malcolm was only a trialist for East Fire in the Scottish 2nd div. Sounds like no contract given.

Liam Reddy's Esteghlal had 2-0 away win at Rah Ahan. No word if he played or not, or is even still there.

Really, why not? I can provide some insight too, I can tell you that it's good fun, what's football without drinking, singing and mates? Are you sure you've ever been to a football match?

You lot with smaller clubs do just that and won't go near a top league game unless it's in your back yard. As long as you can get conveniently pissed and bugger football.

True football fans indeed

That's right, I support the club that's in my backyard, the local football club. Don't you? Conveniently getting pissed with my friends watching the football. I really can't think of a better day out.

Rather than create a new thread....

My name is Ahmed for those who dont know and i am a journalism student at the University of Queensland. This semester we are required to do a video news story and well i thought what better story than the current situation with the RCC - and i have approval from my uni professors - . As a Roar fan and someone who has been part of The Den before i thought this would be an article i could relate to and hopefully tell very well.

The idea is to get the story of both RCC and The Den via interviews and to compile that in to a news story as you see on tv. It will not be a story taking sides or knocking one grop or the other, but rather what is the issue and why is it happening. I would be very grateful if people from either fan group would be happy to participate in the interviews and hopefully help me out. The interview would last roughly 1 hour to an hour and half depending on how things go.

I also would like to know if the Roar have open training sessions and when they are. Would i be able to do some videoing of the training as well, probably about 5 to 10 minutes max recording?

if anyone is able to assist me or be of help i would greatly appreciate it. Ideally i am looking for members of The Den and RCC who have a decent understanding of what is going on and the situation.

feel free to contact me either via the forum, PM or by email at ahmed.essof@uqconnect.edu.au

Many Thanks In Advance.

Ive posted this in the Roar Forum too, so just making sure im covering all the bases

Sunderland fans lit a flare at Goodison Park (Everton)in the FA Cup, March this year. Arsenal were singing "you're a c*nt, Robin" to the tune of "on the piss, m'lord" at Anfield in full volume for hundreds of thousands of fans on live TV just last week. That's just two examples off the top of my head. Yes, it happens in top flight English football and European matches.

The argument will go "we have to appeal to families, it's not Europe!", but at what expense? Should football sell its soul for financial gain?

I should re-phrase, it may happen, but its not ACCEPTABLE.

The flare rippers will tell you that its tolerated and accepted overseas, but its not and hasn't been for some time. Yes that doesn't mean it NEVER happens, but just because people overseas do things at football games that are illegal doesn't mean we should do things in Australia that are illegal! thats stupid logic right there.

As for the argument your raising about families, fact is the Milton Road end of the ground has ALWAYS been set aside for families! The RCC knew this when they took up residence there and agreed to follow the rules set down to them by BR management as a result.

THEY DIDN'T FOLLOW THE RULES MATE! They where given plenty of opportunity to turn their act around, and they didn't do it!

They went down there because they claimed they wanted to demonstrate a "higher standard of active support" then what the den offers, but in the end they where worse mate!

The RCC might be shit teenie, can't watch the game cos I'm flying a flag, support but at least they aren't the swimming carnival that is the Den. Football fans have the right to set up shop and sing for their club anywhere, they have the away end at that side too and they're louder, drunker and rowdier than anyone in the ground!

It's not tolerated in England you're right. But I can assure you that the club made a decision to kick the RCC before the pre-season flares. As far as I can tell, most flares during the season come from the Den! The justification is just a piss-poor excuse to amalgamate the support into a far more fashionable 'product'.

'Active support', what a fucking horrible phrase.

Sorry, but you clearly don't know what your talking about. Sounds like you've been talking to a RCC member who's told you all his bullshit, but I assure you there is another side to it and the rest of the Roar fans have increasingly lost patience with these guys for some time now.

And the flares weren't just in the pre-season, they ripped them during a-league games last season too, so did the Den, and I was equally critical of them, but they at least weren't down sitting with families under the false pretence of "being different and a higher standard"

Also since when has being the most drunk and rowdy been a measure of success?

The Den can be a pain in the ass, they go quiet when we're loosing as an example, but at least they (mostly) follow the rules and don't roll out banners of someone doing lines for the Courier Mail to take photo's of and splash around making our game look bad!

I absolutely agree, like I said before, that there is no club without it's supporters, but the supporters aren't more important or less important, you need both.

Nope, the club is the supporters, the others are employees.

Yes a lot of clubs were founded by it's supporters, but how many are run by them?

In 99% of the world, the club is run by supporters. The board is usually life long fans who have the time /money/expertise to get involved at that level. Other 'regular' employees are locals who, surprise, surprise support the local club.

As for GCU, without the club there never would have been a club to support. The supporters were just as much at fault for it's downfall as the club was, make no mistake.

As for GCU !

Given the FFA don't allow promotion to the A-League, a local businessman couldn't put his money into one of the already existing local teams and got in that way. As it was Brisbane couldn't get enough supporters from their (4 x bigger) city to stop it going bust.

In reality your 'sig' should also say "Eff all those 'supporters' that never bothered to show up". If the supporters are the club as you say, a show of strength in support would have seen the club/team/support endure no matter the management.

There wasn't strength of support in Brisbane either. Just a Foxtel deal that forced the FFA to bail them out ahead of NQ, a club who's fans were putting in a big effort. that didn't help them once the corrupt ignorant twats at the FFA trough decided Football fans are disposable.

Actually if iirc they met with the RCC to try to fix the situation for the good of all supporters, pretty sure they had the option of remaining there if they cut back on certain extremes.

They then ripped those flares in preseason in protest to the outcome of the meeting.

I enjoyed most of what the RCC were doing (especially the GCU banners) and I think it is awesome to have more than one supporter group and in different locations.

I don't even agree with the club trying to make that end a family zone, but that is their decision and rowdy supporters and families just don't mix.

There were just too many complaints about the RCC for the club to ignore and tbh they have been pushing the club to the edge for a while now.

I mean come on, a banner of someone snorting coke and 'BRFC my addiction' on it in a family friendly zone?

I hope they work something out though and continue their support for our team.

Well, from what I've heard, the meeting consisted of "give us a list of names or lose your bay." Draw your own conclusions from that, but I can assure you most real supporters would go mental at the thought of grassing their mates. But I guess 'true football supporters' should 'self-police' (see dobbing) for the 'benefit of the game'. The benefit to whose game? The owner's pockets or football fans- the people who make football what it is. Use us for advertising when they want to, screw us over when they can...

I fucking hate the RCC, my first response to this was one of delight. They showed fuck all sympathy when we lost our own home end, they showed fuck all when we lost our club. Time and time again they've tried to start something with us, nearly every major bad RCC event was against us; I could even suggest that I've had more contact with their ugly side then you lot. Defending them makes me physically ill, I think they're all wankers.

But you cannot possibly suggest that the standards for the RCC were the same as The Den. It isn't, the Den have thrown flare after flare in home games and yet I don't see them losing their bay. It's double standards.

Benny Buckley, you're words are wise again.

You make it sound like every club should owe it's supporters something.
While it's true that a club needs it's supporters, supporters also need their club, there's no one without the other, as you should know.
Nobody owes nobody, we're there for each other, through thick and thin, no matter what. I think too many fans have lost sight of what it means to 'support' your team. On the night, it's the team we are there to support, nothing else should matter.

If you were to ask most players, they would say it is a privilege to play for the fans, and for true fans it is also a privilege to support them.

We have the choice to do something about those that threaten that or risk letting them ruin it for us and the players we are there to support.

Ooohhhh cheeky

Well I think that's where we differ. The club owe the supporters because without the supporters there is no club. To me, the supporters of the club are the club. It's a little difficult for A-League fans to understand because the clubs are new franchises.

It can equally be argued, with GCU as a case in point, that without the supporters the club cannot survive. In ancient times, the supporters created the club, had an intense relationship with the club, passed down that relationship to the club from generation to generation. Football clubs are not clubs without fans. They may as well be pub squads otherwise.

The fact still remains that you can't have one without the other, and as soon as one starts believing it is better than the other you get a lot of problems.
