+x+x+x+x+x+xWhere's Was? Haven't seen him post for a while. Pretty sure Waz got tired of the same battles/discussions and things between him and others were consistently pointed from both sides - so he probably decided that coaching his own team and living his own life was worth more to him. But you could equally move this post to the Rumours thread because it is all just my speculation. Shame if true always enjoyed his posts. It seems he got fed up with some of the personal attacks that may have been directed at him. Certainly a loss to the discussions in this thread. He was pretty good giving it out tbh, some of the stuff he posted was just wrong. was posts on The Roar - its an article based site, its kind of similar to a forum but the mods wont let you get away with talking smack Waz was the go to man - for inside info on the club, and had a keen eye on the football, tactics close up. Yep - miss him in this thread.

+xDanzaki loaned out to JEF United in J2 A year in the aleague to build physical and mental resilience then J2 to refine team skills. Maybe that is a skill path for other players like him to pursue. Would be good for our league/club to have a Danzaki every season on loan. Good luck to Riku.

First pre-season game 28th Aug at 5pm against a Wide Bay Select team up at Fraser Coast Sports Precinct. Anyone making the trip? Worse places to be this time of year.

https://trainingground.guru/articles/guyett-leaves-crystal-palace-after-11-years-to-return-to-australia
SCOTT GUYETT, one of the longest-serving performance practitioners in the Premier League, has left Crystal Palace after almost 11 years to become assistant manager at Brisbane Roar in Australia’s A-League.The Australian, who was a professional player for clubs including Bournemouth and Chesterfield, has been Head of Sport Science and Strength and Conditioning for the Eagles since October 2010.He told TGG: “It’s been an amazing 11 years, but family issues have meant we have to return home."In June, Guyett was given the Chairman’s Award for his outstanding contribution to the club.“Sometimes, at football clubs, there are lots of people who get the plaudits, get in front of the cameras, and are told how great they are,” Chairman Steve Parish said.“Other people sit in the background and we all know do the work that enables us to do the things we do. Since I’ve been here one of those people is Scotty.“I want to give an award to thank you from the football club for all of the things you do.”
READ MORE: Scott Guyett - Pre-season with Crystal PalaceStriker Christian Benteke added: “I think Scotty is a great guy. He always tries to put a good mood in the dressing room and even during the warm-up. He always has a smile on his face and, since I’ve been here, he’s always been good with me. He’s a great guy. “It’s great because he knows the players. Sometimes when we need maybe to stay in because we don’t feel 100% to train, he’ll understand because he knows each of us.“He’s also been a player, so the approach is easier for him to understand what we need or don’t need.”Guyett is highly qualified. As well as being a certified strength and conditioning specialist and having first class honours in sport and exercise science, he has a Masters in Sporting Directorship and is due to complete his Uefa Pro Licence next year.He will assist Wayne Moon at the Roar.

First game against a Wide Bay select team yesterday. Interesting that Lofthouse, Hanagan and Ridenton were listed as triallists. Maybe it's the year Lofthouse delivers on his potential and steps up to the A League? Anyone go to the game? https://www.brisbaneroar.com.au/news/report-roar-and-running-pre-season

Didn't go, but 2 interesting things for mine out of that game; 1 - anyone know anything about Hanagan? Not sure on who he is and if he is quality. 2 - No Lescano on the score sheet, which is disappointing for the person who is meant to be our primary striker and we paid a fee for . (assuming he got on the field of course)

(assuming he got on the field of course) 1/ From the very little I could find, he might be a defensive midfielder, which would make sense with Ridenton also a triallist in that role. Moon possibly looking for a proper backup to Steinmann. May have played for Bankstown City in NPL3 before moving to Peninsula Power this year. 2/ Very odd not to see Lescano appearing in the scorers list. He is on the squad list, which he surely wouldn't be if he was unwell or lacking fitness, but not mentioned as you say. Hope we hear more, but if not the FFA Cup game against Peninsula Power has been rescheduled for 14 September and surely we will see something of him then. 3/ I am still waiting on my Paramount code - anyone got theirs yet? I have emailed Roar Admin and will post the answer when I get it.

I have 6 people in my group, spread across three households. So far I have just received the one email. If the other five do not receive emails by this evening I will assume that only the Primary Account Holder receives an email offer and will sign up for multiple subscriptions off that one email. Not a very good process if that is how it ends up. They have email addresses for all 6 of us so should have sent 6 emails. Will confirm if I only get the one tonight for anyone else in a similar position.

Seems Moon is loading up on attacking players this season rather than on a single big name striker. Some seasons we wonder where our goals are going to come from. This season we may have several options if they can step up.

This season we may have several options if they can step up. That's a big if though. Lofthouse has done well in the NPL and should be ok with the step up but parsons 3 goals was a good return last season for a player stepping up. I dont know much about Hore but the rest of our attackers dont exactly fill you with confidence of big hauls. Melusenic 14 goals from 102 senior games. (~3 goals per a-league length season) lescano 43 goals from 189 (~6 goals per a-league length season) parsons 3 goals from 16 (has played only 16 senior games) Ivanovic 2 goals from 38 gol gol 26 goals from 152 (~5 goals per a-league season) oshae has 5 in 2 seasons for the roar akbari has 0 daley has 0 Dehmie has played 6 senior games adams has played 1 senior game you need to score 40-50 goals in a season to be competing for top spot. Every one of our players would pretty much have to double their average goals per season and Jez and Hore would have to chip in a couple for us to be in the mix. I generally like giving youth a shot over the same old merry go round players but i think you need some very experienced old players to guide them through. Oshae and Aldred are the only old heads we have left and even they only have experience at league 1/2 level. I hope we do well because it would be a huge tick of approval that our academy system is starting to produce a-league quality players, and the NPL is full of quality players, ripe for picking, but i am starting to get a 2019/20 CCM moneyball disaster feeling.

Agree it is a big if, but there is plenty of space for optimism in the front third we have, Lescano scored a goal every 3 games last season, so should be decent for us, looked good in the FFA cup game Mileusnic, I was always worried when he was on the ball playing for Adelaide against us so I think he will be a threat Parsons, played mostly off the bench last year and scored 3 so up to him to claim a starting role Ivanovic, played mostly off the bench last year, no goals but looked good in the FFA cup game Lofthouse, will be a squaddie if he can get a couple of goals it will be a good outing for his first season Dehmie, will be a squaddie so as per Lofthouse If the midfielders of O'Shea, Akbari, Steinmann, Daley and Hore can chip in with 10ish goals between them I can see that front line getting 30 to 40 goals easily I am more worried about our defense and the lack of cover we have there at the moment than I am about where goals are going to come from.

We have seen many clubs over the last couple of seasons whose benches were lined with players we would have been starting with. For a time, DWH was our only 'game changer' sitting on the sidelines and everyone else was at best a slightly lesser version of the player being substituted. Parsons started to bring some anticipation with him when he came on last season. I have a feeling (at this stage not backed by anything other than orange glasses) that we are going to be looking at our bench around the 60 minute mark and thinking we have some pain lined up for the opposition team for a change.
When I wear their colours, I am the club.

Like these last few signings but would love one more player, either I’m defence or through the midfield. As a precious post alluded to, potentially a foreigner with a bit of experience might be nice.

Our midfield simply doesn't have 10 goals in them, that leaves our front 3 as the only scorers. I am less worried about our backline as between Aldred, hingert, brown and Neville you have a very very experienced backline. Throw in Trewin who looked more than capable of being a starter last season and Steinmann as cover in front unless there are 3 or 4 injuries at the same time there is plenty of experience. Can't say that about our attack

And if the FFA cup game was any indication we will be playing with an attacking midfielder/false 9 which I think will suit O’Shea really well and should means he gets a few more goals.
Agree the first choice players in the defense are good, it is more the lack of depth and no obvious back ups that has me worried, Trewin played 27 games last year as the back up player, and we would be incredibly lucky to get a player as good as he is 2 years in a row.
Either way, how good is it to have some football to talk about 😄😄

Either way, how good is it to have some football to talk about 😄😄 Yeah it is good to talk about football. in defence i would say our first team is hingert Neville Aldred Trewin Brown back ups are JBS, powel, Ramazani we can also change to a back 4 if we are desperate. JBS and Hingert can cover for the CB's, Powel did get action last season but the season before showed he has promise at this level and from reports Ramazani could well be like trewin and is ready to step up. at least our starting back 5 has a lot of experience. our strikers not so much, it is a big gamble that lescano will be above average here (untried foreigners have been 50-50 in aleague) and that Melusenic will be in carreer best form, while Oshae does not drop off and parsons/ivanovic lift their output. One thing though is that moon tried to get Lescano for last season but russia pretty much blocked them, so at least he had a full season to watch him in live games to make sure he was the player that he wanted.

+x+x+x+x+x+xSeems Moon is loading up on attacking players this season rather than on a single big name striker. Some seasons we wonder where our goals are going to come from. This season we may have several options if they can step up. That's the problem though oshae has 5 goals in 2 seasons. The rest have a grand total of 0 aleague goals. Can't say that about our attack I think Steinmann has more goals in him from the defensive midfield role than O’Shea does, he is more natural in that role.

One thing though is that moon tried to get Lescano for last season but russia pretty much blocked them, so at least he had a full season to watch him in live games to make sure he was the player that he wanted. Last season O'Shea was involved far less in attack because of his positional role. I can remember whole games where we did not see a single shot fired over the bar from him. Steinmann coming in frees O'Shea to play the role he played so well the season before that - which by itself is a huge boost for our attacking strength when you remember he was such a prolific creator measured across the whole league. I cannot see our attack this coming season being too much like last season - more like the season before but converting more of those chances. In the FFA Cup game I thought Ivanovic had a very strong performance with surprising speed (for his opponents) and a real hunger for the ball. He did actually score on of our 3 goals remember. Maintain that and he will do well.
When I wear their colours, I am the club.

Did anyone get to the game last night? How did it go?
Solid 6-0 win over a lower NPL team is the expected result, Akbari, Mileusnic, Neville, Lofthouse, Parsons and Steinmann were the scorers

But good to see the goal scorer list given the ffa cup game some are on two goals in two games, be it against npl sides.
