1. Poor pre season - we're still feeling the effects and it's not going away (blame Mulvey). 2. Poor recruiting - we now don't have 6 months like we did pre season (blame Mulvey). 3. Poor results - we did incredibly bad at the start of the season (blame Mulvey).
It's a rebuild year. After this window closes I think we will see just how much of point 2 was actually Mulveys fault. There are a lot of rumors that his hands were being tied during preseason and management were responsible for Kurtishi. If this window is a massive fail, like it has been so far, then we know for sure who to point the finger at this time.

Stead has the say from a financial / cap point of view as it is with all clubs there are constraints. The head coach is responsible for the final selection of player based on the best he sees available whether it was he who scouted him or not. Mulvey spent a lot of time in Europe scouting.

So what were we paying Stead to do on his scouting trip? Paying him nothing extra. Already has a salary with Roar. I'm sure there was a third person assisting with the scouting. Team effort. We also had Rado scouting too in the Ange days. At the end of the day, the head coach makes the final decision based on what has been discovered and is available. Best scout Brisbane has ever had was Dario Vidosic. Should get him on the blower.

Edited by paulc: 21/1/2015 07:46:24 PM You would assume that would be the case, that Mulvey had the final say, but from has been leaked about the Kurtishi debacle, he didn't want him, he wanted the more expensive Hanke but the club over-ruled him and signed the cheap option based on YouTube clips. His disagreement with the decision may have led to the falling out with the board. Like him or not, you can hardly lay the blame squarely at Mulvey's feet for the situation we're in. Any failure in this transfer window, will only confirm the leaked info. SFC have brought in 3 signing now, we have one.

To be honest i don't think we would have fit hanke into the cap. bes was on what 250 and resigned brattern and a few other players there goes ivans money. I don't think we could have gotten him in. i think the person leaking was mulvey anyway, he refused to answer the phone calls because he knew he was gone, he can honestly say the club never talked to him, but it was already know that something was going to go down after he lost the game........... or miller with that saga. Sources close to the club talking about a certain situation is usualy the person actually the story is about is doing the leaking. You can't go from being the one of the most professional admin in the comp to a farce. Mulvey last season signing were not that great as well.

How on earth did we have the most professional admin in the comp? Do you not remember how they sacked Rado? Or how the appointed Mulvey?

Eastern Glory wrote:Is there anything behind the Babalj rumours or just speculation? Speculation. There was talk he was hoping to sign for Roar or AU if he couldn't find a gig in Europe. Sounds like he was going to try and hit up Red Star. Personally, I'd love to see him sign for us. His workrate and finishing skills improving here would help him before he tries Europe again I think.

Scotty McDonald has been released by Millwall. He would be a pretty good pickup

We've had a lot of Aussie players in the past that have been denied permits

I was talking about #7, the striker, not Omar Abdulrahman (the guy who trialled for Man City). Omar is the one who came out and said h wants to play in the A League though!

Word on the street is that we arent actually paying LDV that much and he's signed on as Lambadaridis' injury replacement. Still have all Smith money to throw at a striker.

Stead does not control the salary cap Technically correct, but Stead would have been telling Mulvey what his limits are and the situation - being in the chain of command. Anyway, we now it seems we have a new Serbian striker. Know nothing about him so let's hope he's not another dud. The 3 signings so far are spot on in terms of key on-field requirements.
