How many times have we heard a board back the coach or a public figure within any one organisation publicly and then comes the axe???
Sidwell will definitely walk by the time the next season kicks off - I am certain of this
The only question is will the Heart remain in the HAL???
They more than anyone else require an urgent cash flood and the next TV deal will provide a trickle
On another note I have been advised that there has been an approach by Eddie McGuire - Geoff Lord and George Donikian to be involved with smfc
Also there will be some international fixtures next year at the new stadium against a class opponents
Question is will smfc represent themselves or the privately funded satellite sxfc
Serious times ahead - Honeymoon over

I don't know why you think throwing the name Eddie Maguire around gives your claims any creedence. If it was my team, I'd be more worried about it than anything else. Are you sure Collingwood doesn't need another training ground? I'm sure you already know that the only reason your homeground got the renovation funding in the first place was cause MaGuire wanted Olympic Park for Collingwood, yet you think he's going to be some sort of SMFC benefactor? MaGuire wants what's good for Collingwood AFL team, nothing else.

Edited by chris: 29/12/2011 03:00:40 PM I think you just love to spin BS as usual. You have been proven wrong over and over , and even this 'rumour' has fallen flat on its face. Its time you gave up on it man really. Lock it please, just as it deserves.

Btw Joffa, can you lock this thread too please. I consider it was started as nothing but a trolling exercise, so if you are going to close some because of that, you might want to add this to the list. Thanks :)

^^ I think you will find its just the owners investing more cash. Hardly unusual in sport.
Every comp relies heavily on TV money to sustain them. Not sure why that would e a surprise.

WHile he did say extra funds have been secured to cover operational losses for current financial year and preparation for further losses going forward. His expectation is that in 18months to two years the A-League franchises will be totally funded. I assume his expectation is for a much improved TV contract. So the Heart have borrowed more money to cover their losses? How many clubs are relying on the TV money to bail them out, some of us seem to think that over here.

I wonder how a sports identity like "Eddie Maguire" would feel about the heart v a club like a smfc which has huge potential and nill cost for their ground which is international standard
Just curious

Based on their estimated forthcomming losses of $1.5Mill Heart makes $4.1 Mill from other revenues including gate receipts and memberships. A figure which I find intriging, with an ave attendance as of today of 9668 per match they would have to generate $293K per home game to make up the $4.1Mill
Any way I still they are headed for a spectular financial crash. Those are 'basic financials', which are not even confirmed for accuracy. Hard to use as any real gauge. Another thing, we are not expected to make a profit this year, but it is next season that the planned 'breakeven' was budgeted for. Some just seem to be waiting for the day it falls apart. Keep dreaming guys. The original rumour was BS, as is just about everyone else some of you have thrown at the club. Time to find a new target.

Heart's membership targets for this season was 7500. We've recently hit 6000 members, and fingers crossed - last nights win will help gain a few more members. If we were able to sign up the 1500 extra members by end of season, that's potentially an additional $150,000-300,000, depending on if they get a 5 game, or full membership.
Another sell out derby in Feb, and an increased home average for the next 4 home games in Jan would go a long way to help the club get closer to that break even point.
I think all investors are hoping for a cash cow of a TV deal. All signs are looking good based on this season's viewing and attendance figures, I guess we'll find out at the end of this season.

I think its no secret that every franchise bar MVFC is waiting on the new deal and therefore an increased dividend from the FFA which as a guestimate needs to be in the vicinity of $3Million per fanchise. Will be interesting not only what Heart investors do, but most of the franchise investors do if significant increase in dividends is not forthcoming.

I know that this is their current policy, and seems the policy of other A-League clubs as well.

I enjoy the a-league i don't have anything to be bitter about. Were have I ever called for the demise of the A-League? True I'm not particularly keen on a couple of franchises. I do foundly love the Roar and don't miss their matches when in Melbourne, even go to their youth league matches in Melbourne. I like The Glory, I like Newcastle, I like Wellington, I like Adelaide, I like CCM were my dear cousins live. What I can't beleive is how much you hate SMFC? What did they ever do to you? You need to get over this Bitterness please. Edited by Arthur: 18/11/2011 10:34:30 PM Well said Arfur.. You are a prime example of the kind of supporter of an ex-NSL club that should be embraced and welcomed to the HAL not alienated. BTW .. I heard from a good source that Melbourne Hellas are being wound up in the New Year ;)

1 question
If the heart fold and sxfc emerges as their replacement, would you follow the latter for the good of the game? That's hypothetical, but yes I would get to a minimum of 6 or 7 games per season. Let's stick with a real life scenario. Chris and Arthur, do you attend a few Heart and/or Victory matches for the good of the game? Auckland City - "Oceania Club of the Century" Auckland City have never been awarded Club of the Century - South Melbourne have, hence Chris's proud signature.

What the fuck do you think it is, a communistic regime like N. Korea where we do things for the good of the league or risk arrest for displaying subversive intent? What a stupid fucking question. Do we get arrested for failure in our national service? I'd think Arthur would do much, much more for the game than 99% of the silly freaking teenagers whose balls are yet to drop and the wankers thinking we should all have a shrine in our homes dedicated to the aleague so we can light a candle each night, kneel in front, say the rosary and bless ourselves with holy water. If the heart fold and sxfc emerges as their replacement, would you follow the latter for the good of the game? Since I don't really follow Heart (nor any other HAL team for that matter), I don't think I'd be inclined to follow SXFC either. But I'm very interested to see what a club like that could do in the HAL, same as Marconi et al in Sydney. Had this HAL season not started so well I'd say it would've been worth a punt in the next couple of years.
