pv4 wrote:Decided to have my first binge on Netflix last night. Watched a season of Video Game High School - my brother in law said it was worth a watch and it was on my screen. Enjoyed the show enough, will watch the other series but probably wouldn't watch it again. Good enough for a laugh though. Netflix was surprisingly (to me) simple, and what I thought would be a hassle with my home internet turned out to be cruisy and I didn't have any issues streaming the show - it ran smoothly and didn't stop to buffer once. I was expecting about 5 buffers per half hour show, but didn't get one!
I've already found that there are shows I'd like to watch via Netflix that just aren't available. There was also one show that I forget what it was now that only had one season, which I'd either already seen or wasn't Season 1 and hence I didn't want to jump in midway. If/when the library grows, I can see myself investing $10 or whatever a month into this. With the data retention bill likely to pass today anyway, everyone in Australia at minimum should be running a VPN. Added perk of giving you access to about 4x the content on Netflix all under the same account. Licencing into Australia is always going to be shittier than other places until Foxtel dies it's long overdue death. One thing that Netflix has been successfully doing over the past few years is building strategic partnerships with networks for delayed access. I wouldn't be surprised to see a deal with ABC to hold content after it has expired from iview. Edited by Notorganic : 25/3/2015 11:55:31 AM

That last ten minutes of the Walking Dead were incredible. Best finale the show has had in my opinion.

Only two major differences from the comic of note:
A)
Deanna and Reg are gender-swapped in the show from the comic, her name in the comic is Douglas. Pete kills his wife Regina with a gun, but the scene was pretty much the same otherwise
B)
Morgan was with the group by now, so the cliffhanger wouldn't have been possible.
I was expecting the final scene to be
The Wolves at Alexandria's gates, the leader saying "little pig, little pig, let me in“
, it was a pretty big scene in the comics, and I'm sure it will be in the season opener.
Next season is going to be HUGE if they keep to the pacing so far. Happy to do a synopsis of everything from here to issue 100 which will probably be the season finale if people want to know what to expect. It will be very spoiler heavy, just about every loose storyline from the show has been tied up now
With the exception of Daryl, who just doesn't exist in the comic
and it's all full steam ahead into a pure adaptation of the comics.
There was a great dream sequence in the comics that Rick had after
Michonne had knocked him out during the fight with Pete
. It was the only time the comic was in colour, and was a storyline that the zombie apocalypse was really part of an alien invasion on earth. I was sad not to see a bit of comic relief like that missing.

Trevor Noah announced as Jon Stewart's successor. Could not be happier with that choice.

I enjoyed TWD finale, though I'm getting a bit over the monologues. Long speeches alwys annoy me though. I think that
the wolves will take up a large portion of the next 4-8 episodes then bulid to the saviors and issue 100 finale tear
Edited by Rocknerd: 1/4/2015 01:16:10 PM If the
Wolves are still alive by the end of S6E02 I'll be very surprised.
Gimple has pretty much brought the show to a similar pacing to the comics, so a lot still has to go down before
Issue 100
and we're more likely to see that as a mid-season finale for Season 7. I think that it will go: S6 1-2:
Funerals for Pete and Reg and Rick apologises for scaring the town with his actions before the meeting. Wolves attack Alexandria, get #rekt cementing Rick as the protector of Alexandria
S6 3-4:
Abraham development, Jessie & Rick development, Morgan & Michonne romance. Herd moves towards Alexandria after being attracted by the noise of The Wolves attack
S6 5:
Herd is noticed, Deanna tells Rick that he doesn't answer to her and to take over Alexandria, episode ends with walkers pushing down the walls
S6 6-7:
Chaos of Herd invasion. Rick, Carl, Judith Jessie and her kids get ready to escape the invasion by themselves and hit the open road. Deanna contemplates suicide from her sadness at the loss of Reg and inability to protect Alexandria.
S6 8(midseason finale):
The attempted escape, will be interesting to see how closely they follow the story for this episode. Jessie freaks out when one of her kids gets bit and starts screaming and clawing at Rick. Rick chops off her arm to protect Carl & Judith, Deanna runs into the herd to kill as many zombies as possible, as she dies she fires wildly into the herd and the episode ends with Carl copping one of those bullets to the face.
Second half of the season will be
Ending the herd invasion and cleaning up, Carl recovering from his wounds with some memory loss (Expect some Lori flashbacks), lots of character development for Abraham, Holly (the girl he saved from the bulldozer), Rosita, Eugene, Maggie, Spencer, Morgan (if he doesn't die in the invasion like he did in the comics, I'm assuming that he won't considering at the effort made to bring him back). Sasha overcomes her demons and begins teaching Alexandrians how to shoot, Rick realises how important community is and loses his insular attitude - talking down a mini-revolt from some disgruntled Alexandrians without violence, Maggie gets pregnant and the season ends with the meeting of a representative from Hilltop (I don't think it will be Jesus, I think that Daryl will evolve as a character into the Jesus role).
That would leave the opening half of Season 7 to be the introduction and development of
Hilltop characters and a small scuffle with some unknown bandits
, with
Negan and The Saviours making an appearance for the mid-season finale. Considering all the foreshadowing that the show has been doing, I don't think Glenn is going to survive the S7 Midseason Finale.
Took until the second episode to completely prove beyond any doubt that this is a hero completely different to anything in the MCU, and that's what makes it so fucking good.
Mother of God that hallway fight scene.
