TIL Homeland is much harder to enjoy when you want Carrie to die so badly.

I just can't get a grasp on what it's trying to be, and find the continuity and era errors in it really grating. The cars and clothes are from the 80's, the computers from the 90's, cellphones from the early 2000's. None of the characters other than Wayne have any apparent motivation and the performances other than Wayne's actor are cringe-worthy at best.
Even Alfred is an annoying prick.
Boiled down, it seems like a sub-par buddy cop show with the only draw being the DC universe that barely features that universe or characters in any meaningful way. I haven't checked it out yet. Got the first few episodes ready to go on my external, but I've been hearing that it's just a load of shit. I'm not a huge Batman fan in any case, as in I haven't read any of the comics - Not sure if you are, but does that come into why you're partly disappointed about it? Because I really wouldn't have any idea if things go away from the source material so it doesn't matter. Or is it just.. Not good? Edited by Draupnir: 30/10/2014 03:36:37 PM

I'm a fan of Batman the character, but by no means invested in the universe like I am with something like Spiderman or The Walking Dead. I think I might have read a handful of comics, and only really know many of the peripheral characters from the films.
I think it's just a bad show trying to be something attached to the universe without really having anything compelling to attach itself with.

Yeah I'm just about done with Gotham. I love Batman more than any superhero or comic, but even that won't save this show. Like notor says, it's just a crap show basically riding on Batman's coattails which is really disappointing. Who knows, show might get better down the line and I'd say it's pretty safe to say it'll get a 2nd season so we'll see.

I thought that Agents of Shield suffered similarly at the beginning as well, but it really managed to pull it together and I regularly watch it now.
Arrow is pretty good, I'm still not sold on Flash. Same format as Arrow, but doesn't work because of the characters involved.

Once they did the sorta tie in with Winter Soldier that show really came into it's own and has gone from strength to strength since. They now know what show they want to/can be. Like PB said as well, the way they're able to tie in the MCU with Agents is a massive plus and something they've done really well since they stopped doing the stupid little mentions of various Avengers.

Loving the selection nowadays. Walking Dead, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Gotham, The Simpsons, Sonic Highways, South Park, Constantine, Regular Show & Bobs Burgers are all awesome.

Am I just in a mood or was S17 and some/most of S18 of South Park not up to usual standard?
I just feel super underwhelmed lately, for a show that usually hits me instantly and forever.
I am happy how they went about Jax finding out, and that scene of Abel at school on the bathroom was perfect with no dialogue.
