Fredsta wrote:Good start to the new season of GOT, loved the character appearance at the end as that was something I'd completely forgotten about. Last season I felt the plight of Dany was quite boring to watch at times but I'm intrigued by her story again after this episode.
I thought I'd only been watching for 20 minutes and was shocked when it ended, having to wait a week for each new episode is going to be tough. I cracked it about a month back and read the books. You think waiting for a new episode is tough, I've got to wait god knows how long till he puts out another book .

Does the Game of Thrones TV series follow the books? Really interested in getting into the tv series, but wondering if I should pick up the books first?

Yeah, Dany's storyline last season really wasn't a great fit for TV. Much different this season and it will be for the better. Already loved what I saw in the first episode. Also the more Tyrion the better

It does follow the books, but they do change a few things/combine a few characters for the sake of not having to make each season 30 episodes long. I'd definitely recommend reading the books as well.

From Season 3 on they're diverting more from the books than previous seasons, which is understandable, so from this season onwards, reading the books won't matter a huge deal. I mean hasn't really mattered anyway imo, still definitely worth reading though. Edited by sydneycroatia58: 2/4/2013 08:06:53 PM

Yeah fair enough, I've always been a fan of reading the books first before seeing it adapted to the screen/TV but GOT is an exception, I'm so hooked on the way it's brought to life and the quality of the character portrayals that I don't want to spoil it by reading ahead. I'll definitely go back and read them eventually though.

Justified season finale. Holy fucking shit. Dear rest of television, this is how you finish a season. Just so fucking good.

Its a repeat and a documentary, but watching the Alaska episode of 'The World's Most Dangerous Roads' is how tv documentaries can be made!

Anyone watching the Following? Dowloaded it to avoid the censorship from 9 and am loving it. Acting from some of the supporting cast leaves a little to be desired, but the central main cast are awesome!
First Ep ended brilliantly as did the second. Can't wait to get into the rest!

I haven't seen it but James Purefoy who plays the villain gave one of my all time favourite character portrayals as Marc Antony in HBO's Rome, his presence in this alone is enough to get me interested.

Just started watching Bates Motel and House of Cards. I am finding Bates Motel quite good at the moment and House of Cards is very good - Kevin Spacey is awesome in it. Two very watchable shows...

I've been so disappointed in this season that I look back at the less funny of season 3 and remember them as some of the better eps of the series. Inspector space time ep failed to deliver, Puppets were just odd and didn't make much sense, origins was so weak, Hunger Deans was cringe worth as was Valoween. Freaky Friday was the funniest of them all yet I feel it wasn't meant to be that funny. Bring Harmon back and redo the whole season in a Dallas style dream sequence and replace Chase with Fred Willard. Although the majority of the cast have better things on the horizon so can afford to let it die.

From what I'm told, it's better than most stuff on television, but compared to previous episodes it isn't as good. Glad they ended this season with paintball though. Harmon won't be coming back any time soon, i read somewhere he's got his own projects to be working on. They shouldn't have got rid of him in the first place, but NBC never got Community. I disagree the cast will let this die, i know a few of them have said how much they enjoy working on the show and how different it is to anything else they've done before.

Hasn't Fred Willard actually had a role on the show previously?

This season was always going to be a bit hit and miss, with new writers and Dan Harmon leaving. Sure some of it was not up to community standard, but the good bits were extremely good and very S1 and 2. Hopefully with an established plan, no more issues with Chevy, and some experience, S5 will be amazing.

I stopped watching it towards the end of the third season as I thought it was stagnating and I lost interest so I haven't seen that episode, I thought Willard had a cameo in the first season but IMDB says I'm wrong.
