Got to say that I prefer HAL clubs loaning out players to SL teams over the winter.

In theory, yes, but very hard to make it work in practice. A-League teams will only loan out fringe players, and the state league teams will likely have those players train with them for only a session a week, if that. In addition, a lot of people are wary about the worth of having a player who is only going to be around for half a season, and especially not the business end of the season.

The loaning issue has been brought up with Glory admin by fans before, but they claimed the insurance costs were prohibative.

They should be gaining insurance advice from Clive.

Melbourne Heart loaned a couple of lads to South for the first half of last season - no insurance issues. South also had a kid from Gold Coast United on loan. Richmond has Hoffman on loan from Heart. I'm sure there were a few more around. So the insurance issue is a bit of a red herring.

Looking forward to the blog. I must say it's hard to have much of an opinion with such sketchy details. However, I would like to see Perth Glory with a base in Perth similar to Inglewood United's club rooms, stadium, facilities. And I would also like to see the Glory Reserves/Youth team play in the State League. However, isn't that what the NTC is for? And where would that leave Inglewood United players and members? Hopefully they will have access to the facilities or are able to move elsewhere

Apparently there are talks that the NTC Programme will be cancelled in WA and Perth Glory will take charge of Junior Development. WA has been doing quite well with their NTC program over the last 2 years. They won last year and came 2nd this year.

Quite possibly. But Heart loaned out younger blokes, yeah? I doubt loaning someone like Makarounas, Taggart or Amphlett would be an issue - I reckon loaning Dodd, Sterjovski, Miller would be.

I have heard the NTC might be removed from the Premier League - which I would welcome - but I have yet to hear that Glory replaces it. Glory have stated on numerous occassions that the NTC does not meet their needs and is a separate entity. Personally I think the NTC would be better off playing in the Prem League reserves?

NTC plays in split state league reserves in this state.

It is usually one of the top teams.

It seems to be the right level for them.

I doubt Dodd, Sterjovski or Miller would accept loan deals to the state leagues, nor do I think there would be any benefit to Glory in loaning them out (it's not like a state league club could cover their wages in any way).

Makarounas, Taggart and Amphlett are exactly the kinds of players who would benefit from playing in a more 'competitive' environment year round.

Which is where Inglewood United will be coming in.

The loaning issue I was talking about BTW was a fan asking the CEO why Glory players weren't randomly drafted to state league clubs in the off-season.
