Shallow people aren't attracted to people who aren't ascetically pleasing, or who don't fit a specific societally conditions style. To quote one of my favourite bands (slightly Stoopid) if you're ugly on the outside it don't matter, for the beauty on the inside will overpower. If the beauty on the outside, it won’t matter If you’re ugly on the inside, baby don’t want it

Is it possible to fix a friendship with a guy who had/has feelings for you?

People find other people attractive for a litany of reasons including, but not limited to, weight and build.
Sex/sexual desire doesn't interfere with friendship. Emotional maturity (or lack thereof) does.

Awkwardly enough it turns out they live about 7 houses apart.

But that was one in a few, despite parting on very good terms, my ex doesn't really talk to me anymore. Basically, it's not awkward unless one of you makes it awkward.

I'm worried I'm making it awkward  He was very flirty when we first met, but I totally assumed he was just being friendly, and now he doesn't seem so friendly anymore, so idk we haven't really talked about it or anything.

Would it be easiest to just start telling people that I'm a lesbian?

You're a straight girl struggling to adjust with the hormonal attention of teenage boys. Imagine that same struggle, PLUS a bunch of religious fuckwits judging you and whispering behind your back, or telling you that your feelings are sinful and that you are going to hell because your genetic code has pre-determined that you are sexually attracted to your own gender rather than males coupled with the knowledge that you do not have the same basic human rights as your straight counterparts, because those rights are yet to be voted on or passed down from Parliament. Actually, forget that last part, I think NZ recently joined the gay marriage party.

Not offended at all, just explaining why calling yourself a lesbian flippantly is a bad idea.

It's been (legitimately) tried. In other news I got dumped. Morally of the story, don't date a chick who is trying to get into a medicine course, they have shit all time for anything.
