Gonna have to get back to that at some point. She's nice, but not great, and I'm not that into her/don't really want a relationship. Am on a tad of drystreak so i'd probably be up for a casual root if I am honest, but I doubt she's at the point where that's on her list of possibilties.

We're not best mates anymore. In fact, we're not mates at all.

One of my best friend's stepdad was her real dad's best friend. Apparently they still get along really well though, which I find incredibly hard to believe.

Messy stuff

My mrs's mum passed away from a long cancer battle 10 years ago. My father-in-law's brother split up with his wife months later. A year later, my father-in-law gets close to his brothers ex-wife. Her and her kids moved in with the father-in-law 3 years ago. They're not married, my mrs won't allow it, but they all share the same last name and she wears her old wedding ring.

In summary - my Mrs's Aunty-in-law is her kinda-step-mum, my Mrs's cousins are her kinda-step-siblings.

They're all OK people though, so it works out in the end. The Aunty/Stepmum wants to be called a nan or grandmother to our future children though, which we've put our foot down and said no to. Her adopted parents are Swedish, and therefore she claims Swedish heritage (it works out in her head), so we asked what "Aunty" was in Swedish - apparently it's "tant" (pronounced "tunt", just like a famous C word you're thinking of right now). She doesn't want to be called Aunty in Swedish anymore, it turns out.

Hooking up with mates exes only ever leads to trouble. Mutual friends gossip, things almost always go awry.

speaking of which a rather loud mouth girlfriend of a mate of mine made it practically public knowledge that her boyfriend is endowed with a 'gluestick' as it was put. She's an interesting one.

:lol: You all probably remember the psycho chick I was seeing earlier this year - she was the ex of a mate. We're no longer mates and his whole family hates me but I'm not even mad because they all turned out to be morons anyway.

ANYWAY, present day - A few weeks ago I started talking to this girl, real nice chick, all the good stuff. Asked her out, she said yes, we went out for dinner then hung out at hers and watched the Wimbledon final (with her parents, whom I already knew from work). So that all went well and things were looking pretty good. But since then, every time I try to talk to her she either takes ages to reply and isn't engaged/engaging at all, or just doesn't reply. I've only tried talking to her again a few times because 1) I'm not that desperate, 2) I don't want to annoy the poor girl and 3) I don't really give a shit, but it's still sort of annoying and confusing. Any ideas from the experts?

Sounds like you're spot on doing the right thing to me. If you think it's dead, just give it a few nudges and if you get no response, move along bruv.

Yeah, if you're not feeling the love you give one nudge...if you get nothing (she could be tired, out of credit, busy, whatever) you give it a few days (just under a week is my rule of thumb) and give her a second nudge, if you still get nothing then move along.

The mrs has had a rough week, have spent the best part of it being an above usual sweetheart to her. It's been tough though as she's the type of person who vents and blames those closest to her when things aren't going well for her.
