BBC Football wrote:Chelsea have given England defender Wayne Bridge permission to open transfer negotiations with Premier League rivals Manchester City.
"Chelsea will listen to offers, but any offer will have to be very high," said Blues boss Luiz Felipe Scolari.
Manchester City boss Mark Hughes could pay up to £12m for Bridge, who has seen his opportunities at Stamford Bridge reduced since Ashley Cole's arrival.
The 28-year-old joined Chelsea from Southampton for £7m in July 2003.
He signed a new four-year extension to his Chelsea contract in July 2008, but has become surplus to requirements since the arrival of Scolari, who has opted to use Juliano Belletti as deputy for Cole at left-back.
"If they have a good deal, no problem for me," said Scolari.
Bridge is currently suffering an injury which will keep him out of Chelsea's FA Cup third-round match against Southend United on Saturday.

Quote:Arsène Wenger is NOT planning a bid for Shay Given.
The Newcastle goalkeeper's disillusionment with life "on and off the pitch" at St. James' Park was revealed in a statement by his lawyer, Michael Kennedy, on Friday. The statement also linked Given with three clubs, including Arsenal, but Wenger dismissed the speculation at his pre-match press conference.
"We have not made any enquiry about Shay Given," said the Frenchman. "I have a high regard for him as a player but we do not look for a goalkeeper.
"I don't believe it helps you [when players link themselves with clubs] but as well I believe it is what we call in this job 'normal business' and we have to deal with that.
"I don’t know who he has spoken to at the Club but it is not me. It doesn’t annoy me and it is part of agent’s statements.
"I believe that what is important is what happens inside the Club. You want the inside of the Club to deal well with what people say and what the comments are." http://www.arsenal.com/news/news-archive/wenger-i-am-not-interested-in-shay-given

Yeah, to be honest, I couldn't see Arsenal spending the money on a keeper when they had other, far more pressing issues that needed addressing.
20.41 An update on the Santa Cruz situation. The Paraguayan's comments were not translated properly and he insists he is happy at Blackburn.

BBC Football wrote:Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp says they have had talks about signing Portsmouth striker Jermain Defoe but the clubs have been unable to agree a fee.
Portsmouth manager Tony Adams admitted Defoe could have played his final game for the club after asking to leave.
The 26-year-old has been linked with Manchester City, Aston Villa and Spurs, who he left to join Pompey in 2007.
"I think the chairman has made an offer and if it's not enough then we'll move elsewhere," said Redknapp.
"The chairman had a meeting with (Portsmouth executive chairman) Peter Storrie and I don't think they could come to an agreement on what he's worth or what we should pay for him.
"The crowd would like him, we'd all like him, but he belongs to Portsmouth. If they want to keep him, it's up to them. It's their decision.
"I have a couple of fantastic options but if we can get the people we want then we will be strong." http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/teams/p/portsmouth/7807491.stm

Geeze, SAF's a fucking sook. Teaspoon of cement mate. Liverpool played away two days after every single fuckign international break last season and didn't say boo. Deal with it you fuckign whinger. He wouldn't be complaining if they were in first.
all those transfers look suprisingly plausible bar the value of defoe.

According to some posters in another thread, Zhirkov has come to Chelsea? :-s
He was a man of specific quirks. He believed that all meals should be earned through physical effort. He also contended, zealously like a drunk with a political point, that the third dimension would not be possible if it werent for the existence of water.
