Afro's definitely right though, can see us loaning Ozil out next season to a mid table EPL side, and then making a 17m loss on him the year after. #inafrowetrust

Turned out to be a very very good day for Everton.
Kept Baines, got 27.5m for Fellaini, Got Lukaku and Barry on loan and brought in McCarthy.

Benfica confirm the signing of Siqueira, which in turn I think confirms the Coentrao deal is off.

*sigh* It's like Arsenal fans needed another reason to act like head trauma patients.

i can understand arsenals excitement over ozil but you will still be pushing for 4th/5th. imo you still need a few more players to compete at the very top. van persie was a better asset than ozil and he still got you nowhere.

Then again, Ozil is a fantasic signing. That price-tag is a lot to live up to though.

Fair point, but our squad is a lot more balanced then when we had RVP.

On paper, we're a better side now than we were two seasons ago even with Van Persie then. However, I don't think any levelheaded fan isn't going to realise that this is only one signing, and it's still going to take an incredible effort to finish any higher than fourth.

Ozil will add a lot to Arsenal, and sometimes a club has to pay to get what they want.
The most insane price was Bale's move to Real Madrid, but hey, what a lazy 100 mil between friends

Misses 1 game for Real, and suddenly he's overpriced and his form mediocre. I bet you haven't even watched a single Madrid game this season to make that judgement either. He doesn't fit Ancelotti's system, he's been subbed off in the two games he started and his performances in them was sub-par not to mention responding petulantly to being subbed and that he was left out of the third game.
I bet you haven't watched a single Madrid game this season to mount your defence of him.
I'm not saying that he can't be a good player for Arsenal. But I am saying that You could have signed him for 45m before the season started, let alone after the arrival of Bale and Ancelotti making it obvious that Ozil wasn't a big part of his plans.

When you sign a player Cristiano Ronaldo is devastated to lose, you know you've done well.

And yet, even with that mediocre form he still created more chances in his 2 games than any other Madrid player this season so far.

Quote:I bet you haven't watched a single Madrid game this season to mount your defence of him. Just because you make uninformed judgements of players based off wikipedia stats doesn't mean we all do. I've watched 2/3 of Madrids La Liga games so far this season. He was one of their better players before he got subbed off in the 70th minute- not great, but not 'mediocre'.

Ozil seems to be 'out of favour' only and not out of form. Ancelotti seems to prefer Modric.
