i can understand arsenals excitement over ozil but you will still be pushing for 4th/5th. imo you still need a few more players to compete at the very top. van persie was a better asset than ozil and he still got you nowhere.

Fair point, but our squad is a lot more balanced then when we had RVP.

On paper, we're a better side now than we were two seasons ago even with Van Persie then. However, I don't think any levelheaded fan isn't going to realise that this is only one signing, and it's still going to take an incredible effort to finish any higher than fourth.

Ozil will add a lot to Arsenal, and sometimes a club has to pay to get what they want.

He doesn't fit Ancelotti's system, he's been subbed off in the two games he started and his performances in them was sub-par not to mention responding petulantly to being subbed and that he was left out of the third game.

I bet you haven't watched a single Madrid game this season to mount your defence of him. :lol:

I'm not saying that he can't be a good player for Arsenal. But I am saying that You could have signed him for 45m before the season started, let alone after the arrival of Bale and Ancelotti making it obvious that Ozil wasn't a big part of his plans.

Went into it very scared it that it could destroy our season, instead we brought in one if the best young strikers in the league and an England international workhorse for the season, signed a real prospect for the future on a long term deal and kept the best left back in the league

When you sign a player Cristiano Ronaldo is devastated to lose, you know you've done well.

And yet, even with that mediocre form he still created more chances in his 2 games than any other Madrid player this season so far.

Just because you make uninformed judgements of players based off wikipedia stats doesn't mean we all do. I've watched 2/3 of Madrids La Liga games so far this season. He was one of their better players before he got subbed off in the 70th minute- not great, but not 'mediocre'.

Lukaku proved his worth last season, Barry is a solid player who didn't have the 'fame' of other city players and McCarthy is a solid young talent.
