Serena Williams an honorary Saint
by: Sport Confidential From: Herald Sun January 14, 2012
SERENA Williams dropped in to St Albans Saints Soccer Club on Wednesday night, accepting an invitation from Croatian tennis player Ivo Karlovic.
Serena and her entourage dined on freshly caught snapper at the social club.
There were fewer than 200 people at the club at the time and the senior players had no idea about their special guests until they finished training.
"She was overwhelmed with the reception," club president Rob Colina said.
"And I believe she might have even knocked back another function to come here."
St Albans is known for its Croatian heritage and is where many of Australia's best talent have played juniors, including current Melbourne Heart and Olyroos star Mate Dugandzic.

Great stuff.
Are St Albans in the VPL or in the 2nd tier now?

Didnt know she was a Croat. Surely nasty mono ethnic club wouldn't admit a non Cro, or at the very least would make her highly uncomfortable...

There's no bitterness involved in enjoying being proven right.
All are welcome.
