sydneycroatia58 wrote:So no front benchers allowed on Q&A according to Tone. Be interesting to see what Turnbull does next week. The LNP don't like scrutiny, so avoid the ABC and label it biased. Pretty sad how they & their vast support cast in the media were all singing from the same hymn book over the last 2 weeks on the Zaky Mallah issue. A clearly symbiotic relationship. On balance, I think this will play into Labor's hands, as it will give them a 'free ride'. Edited by Murdoch Rags Ltd: 6/7/2015 03:31:17 AM

It seems the low hanging fruit of fear mongering isn't working for the LNP. Now we have another edition of Go Back To Where You Came From to benefit The Greens vote (who are now polling a whopping 16% primary). Cheers SBS. Would have preferred it closer to the election though! Considering that this is the worst first term government in polling history, I am interested to see the comparative level of broken promises between governments when Labor gets in power next year.

We could become like Venezuela if the government spent recklessly though. In my opinion the government is spending recklessly (as in on things that do nothing/little to help increase productive capacity) but only enough to keep inflation within acceptable bounds.

However, their miracle plan will be to reach into the pocket of everyone with a bit of coin. What is happening in Greece is complete and utter stupidity. They're essentially refusing to change the way they operate to protect their unsustainable lifestyle and are telling the people they owe money to that they're the ones in the wrong  It's like hang on "Suncorp, I want my house but f*ck off with your mortgage repayments I want to live how I want to live". So irresponsible. Every socialist moron in Australia should take note of what's happening and stop their mindless rhetoric.

The sooner people start to see taxation as a way to destroy some money in the economy to prevent inflation the better. Your taxes pay for nothing. Edited by mcjules: 6/7/2015 10:19:56 AM

Also anyone with shares right now, thank Greece for their stupidity. The 10% your shares probably just lost is a direct result of their idiocy.

I mean my kids are supposed to work until they're 70! How anyone in a blue collar job (or any field) is supposed get a new job when they're 63 or so and made redundant is beyond me.

It was supposed to go to 12% but a certain government we're not supposed to criticise froze it at 9.5%. Super is only part of the solution, many people will outlive what they've been able to save.

Well that's why we have a 12% super contribution right? That's not what I asked. I'd rather pay more tax and retire earlier, as would most people. However, I doubt paying more tax would allow such a thing. Hence why I didn't directly respond to the question.

Pretty much. I'm exceptionally fortunate to have a well paying job. In 3 years I've got triple what the mrs has in super. I do commend the initiative to reduce dependence on the government to support retirees. The current system is a shambles where they're paid below the cost of living in many cases. Any measures to make people at least partly responsible for their own welfare is progress.
