I suppose the senate really takes a back seat as the house of reps forms the government. That's right, and it's also because the Senate votes take a lot longer to count due to preferences. Cheers for the clarification. Should have listened more on the Canberra school excursion on 2000. We must be same age, I was there for school in 2000 to.

In all seriousness, my key takeaway post-mortem is that Clive's ad blitz in Queensland is what shifted the balance against Labor with some key swings, with things staying largely the same elsewhere.
Looking forward I don't think there's a future for Shorten. Unfortunately being a competent and articulate leader isn't enough, he didn't have the spirit and force of personality of recently passed legendary Labor leaders and hasn't electrified the voters. Who can take up the mantle is anyone's guess though.
Naturally the Murdoch media and ABC working as the LNP's attack dogs didn't help, but that's standard.

Our emissions are puny at less than 1%, domestically it’s a latte issue and the Greens and Labor have massively overplayed it’s significance. People aren’t shitty for choosing reliable energy and lower power bills over environmental posturing that makes no difference to global emissions.
