Where this at?

There is nothing wrong with physicality as long they have the technical capacities eg Yaya Toure at Man City

My point is it shouldn't be all about technique yes it's important at identifying players at a younger level but you don't cross them out if they have the physical qualities too along their technical ability

When i am posting i am assuming we are talking about youth players?
In the media and across the football family within the last few months i am hearing a greater number of comments about the physical ability of players.
I have a great fear this will filter down.
I hope it does not send us back to the bad old days.

example at the moment i am watching a player who miss passes 4 out of 5 passes (straight to the opposition)he is most likely to be chosen to play at a higher age level because of his strength and stature.

Of course at a professional level players must be physical enough to stand their own.

Even at a Senior amateur level this is true. I'm trying to get my players (especially those who haven't played outdoor only indoor) used to the physical pressure that's exerted on them during a game.

If he's going to be picked as a centre back, that's not too much of a problem - sure he could improve his passing a little bit but he should never be under too much pressure to pass anyway, and if he is he can always clear it. Likewise as a striker if he's big and fast he'll cause problems without needing to act as a creator for others.

Now of course if this kid is supposed to be a midfielder, then you've got problems.

Surely the balance between physical and technical characteristics varies from position to position...

Europe is funding the war not Chelsea football club
