At the end of the day, all this talk is irrelevant.

The FFA (and especially whilst Lowy is alive and in power) will not admit an NSL club and especially one with an ethnic link.

It just won't happen.

It doesn't matter if you have 100 million in the bank for the club.

Lowy and his FFA mates will never entertain a club like Olympic joining it's league.

Go and ask the great people at South Melbourne, how they were shafted for the Heart despite having a much better bid. Also I am certain South prpeared a much better bid than Olympic ever could.

Sorry to rain on your parade guys, but all this talk of Olympic to the A-League is simply just talk. Your only hope of playing in the top league would be if a rebel one ever eventuated.

Best of luck with your bid and I will be the first congratulating you on it BUT I remain of the view, that there is more chance of Lowy getting on national television and announcing that he has converted to Islam. That is the reality.

Minimalistix, straight up, why haven't Sydney Olympic tendered for a A-League licence....there is obviously a pressing need for the A-League to move into Western Sydney and there has been a licence available for two years now...why haven't you guys had a crack?

Because the people at the club have some sort of grasp on reality and know that Sydney Olympic will never be admitted into the A-League due to its ethnic ties. The club isnt run by idiots, it is only supported by them.

That is not to say that I believe that Olympic are next in the queue or are deservered to be in the league.

I believe that Canberra FC has greater chance than Olympic smply because they are in a region that has not got a team and are way to big for the local competition.

I'm happy for Olympic to have a go at the A-League if they think they can be sustainable whislt competing (as like any club/group), however I don't think they should take the spot of West Sydney, Olympic should be targeting inner west and St George areas, as this is were the majority of their fans currently are and if playing out of Belmore, its unlikely people further west of Bankstown will be convinced to follow them.

Another potential WS bid falls through. Get behind Olympic lads - Olympic vs SFC - community vs franchise.

We call all football fans to unite - if we want it bad enough we will get there. We can do it!

Sydney Olympic only appeals to a certain ethnic group. And despite the spin that some of their deluded supporters conjure up, you will not get enough non-Greeks supporting them to justify their place in the A-League. The A-League knows this, the club knows this, their fans however, are a few fries short of a happy meal.

I understand were you are coming from, although if they can pull crowds between 5000-7000 and be financially stable by drawing on their community along with a few locals then I don't see a problem, just as long as they aren't taking the spot of a Western Sydney team whenever they get their shit together.

Juve_Leo you make some good valid points and if Olympic can do what is needed to be in the a-league then why not?

As for T-Unit, he is an unreasonable human being filled with agendas, I have been going to Olympic matches for 25 years, yes there are many Greek-Australians at Olympic matches, but back in the NSL as now in the NSWPL many Asian, African, Lebanese and Anglo-Saxon Australians attend Sydney Olympic matches

You dont survive 30 years in the NSL if you're supporters are from 1 denomination, I hope people can understand this

If the campaign is to be taken seriously, they have to hope for a much larger crowd than that.

The NSL failed because many clubs only had supporters of 1 denomination and didn't appeal to the general community, alot like the NSWPL today. In the A-League, it wouldn't work.

It looks like a Western Sydney team will be in sooner than thought given Lowy's indication.

Does that mean Olympic will aim to the 3rd team from Syndey?

if theyre struggling to make ends meet in the PL then how on earth do you expect them to be able to be sustainable in the a-league where each club needs, realistically, $6-$7m per season? no disrespecting olympic, but its a no brainer. the 10th franchise should be west sydney and west sydney is not belmore. end of story

@Kolner, thats several times you've insinuated that Sydney Olympic has financial problems, I suggest you get your facts straight before making anymore ill advised comments

Olympic's financial condition is up there with the best it has ever been, its as stable as can be, so again worry about your own club and dont concern yourself with what Sydney Olympic FC is doing

I don't give a phuck about Olympic's financial position.

The question is, what will happen to your alleged A-League bid now that Lowy has all but conbfirmed that a team will be franchised from Western Sydney?

We continue to aim for the top mate. We have survived over half a century in the volatile world of Aussie Football. Teams have come and gone - but we are still here. We survive now in a league that does nothing to promote itself but we still drew over 10,000 for the GF.

We are fighters - we will be there when all the rest are gone! Olympic is an ideal - it is more then goalposts and a stadium. And you can never destroy an ideal.
