BTW Surely there will be some signings announced over this weekend? Poppa said Monday that they should/may have 5 more players signed by next Monday, time is ticking.

As I said in another thread about the three new signings. Bridge, Cole and Beauchamp.
"Not the greatest signings but important signings.
For two reasons, first, we need numbers and quickly. And second, all have plenty of experience.
Beauchamp is a great signing in my opinion, I always struggled every time I came up against him. One of the few players I rate that many don't.
Not happy with Bridge but he should pop up with an important goal here and there.
In a new squad, a versatile player like Cole will prove valuable at points throughout the season."

Not going to complain about any of the signings. They're exactly what we need in our first season. We can't afford to be passing up players with valuable A-League experience.

Fabio Grosso? That's the only one I can think of, and only because didn't he say he'd come and play under the cap? Anyway, wouldn't take it to seriously, remember TWG are the ones who had that exclusive that the club would be called Pride

No surprises there, I'd say he's one of a number of NSWPL players who'll be trialling with the club.

What WSW looks like so far if the strong player linking rumors are to be believed :-k One more midfielder and a team could actually be fielded. Obviously theres going to be alot more signings particularly in midfield and attack, but right now I would be quite worried that the plan might be to go into the season with that back four or similar.. Neither Beauchamp nor Stanley are good distributors and neither strike me as having good organisation and leadership qualities. Do we know what formation Popovic likes to play?

I'd be a bit worried if they didn't sign that extra midfielder you mention. Fielding that 10 man lineup would be a big concern. ;) Joking aside its not a bad frame to build a squad on.

Why is Grosso a DM? The guy has been a left sided winger/wingback/LB his entire career.

First training sessionQuote:Western Sydney Wanderers FC will hold their very first open training session at 10am on Monday at Blacktown International Sportspark, giving fans in Western Sydney the opportunity to see the club’s historic first training session.
Fans will have the opportunity to see the squad train between 10 and 11am and also see the team unveil their latest two signings to compliment those they already have including Aaron Mooy, Mark Bridge, Michael Beauchamp, Kwabene Appiah, Tarek Elrich and Shannon Cole. Awesome! If it's open to all fans i'll definitely be going. Blacktown Sportspark is literally a 2 minute drive from my house.

Quote:Wanderers to name two more signings Goalkeeper Ante Covic and striker Labinot Haliti are expected to be named Western Sydney Wanderers' latest two signings. The A-League's newest club will hold its first ever training session under head coach Tony Popovic on Monday at Blacktown International Sportspark from 10am. Popovic will reveal the club's latest signings Covic (ex-Melbourne Victory) and Haliti (ex-Newcstle Jets) before the start of the session. Oh, Haliti and Covic, yep, put on an article on them."

Just got back from the training session at Blacktown, it was a great morning!
A few things: -Both Covic and Haliti were at training today, I'm really glad we've signed Covic.
-The team appeared to be conducting the later drills in a 4-3-3 formatiion. Bridge was the striker supported by Haliti and Appiah, whith Mooy in behind them. Both Elrich and the other fullback were pressing high up the pitch. I know it's only early but it looks like Poppa's settling on 4-3-3.
-There were a fair few trailists, and I'm sure one was Taj Minnecon was one of them(if not, then that's one hell of a doppelganger.) If it was Taj, he stopped training early as he picked up an injury. Cole also looked like he was nursing an injury. I'm sure I saw a few NSWPL players there too.
-The WSW was displayed in the centre of the field, I don't know if that's gonna be the training base, or the logo was simply for promotional reasons. Either way, it looked pretty professional!
-I spoke to Lyall Gorman after the session and he said that more open training sessions were on the way; hopefully these are better advertised than the one today. I'd say there were about 50 people at the session today, not bad considering that this was only advertised last night, and it's during the middle of Monday morning. Still, I couldn't help but think if it was advertised in advance, more people would've turned up.
And finally, I can't say enough good things about Tarek Elrich. The man was an absolute legend, he stayed back after the other players left, signed a few things for some smaller children and let me, along with about 8 others take numerous pictures of him. That's the sort of involvement that every player in the team should emulate.

If Haliti takes his shirt off after a goal, I'm going to fucking lose it. Should be fined 2 weeks wages on the spot. He knows it's coming, hopefully they smack some sense into him.

He was a man of specific quirks. He believed that all meals should be earned through physical effort. He also contended, zealously like a drunk with a political point, that the third dimension would not be possible if it werent for the existence of water.
