The 2012 Waratah Cup Preliminary Round draw was officially announced at Football NSW headquarters at Glenwood as NSW’s famous FA Cup style knockout tournament kicks off on Monday March 26th following matches on Tuesday 27th, Wednesday 28th and Thursday 29th. 2012 will see a total of 85 teams from NSW Premier League, Super League, State League 1 and 2, Association clubs as well as teams from the Illawarra Premier League, ACT and also the Central Coast Mariners Academy U18 side compete in what will be a huge year for the Cup.
The Preliminary matches will see a host of exciting clashes with Eastern Suburbs Association’s Dunbar Rovers kicking off the Cup on Monday with their clash against State League Two outfit Belmore United.
The Central Coast Mariners Academy U18s side have a home fixture at Pluim Park against Sutherland Association’s Loftus Rovers.
Illawarra Premier League outfit Picton Rangers take on St George Soccer Football Association’s Forest Rangers while ACT Premier League side Canberra Olympic travel to Sydney to take on Sutherland Association’s Helensburgh Thistle.
Round 1 will see the remaining State League Two clubs enter the fray, Round 2 will see Super League and State League One clubs enter while Round 3 will see all NSW Premier League clubs join.

Since when were Oatley and Helensburgh part of the Sutherland shire Association. Helensburgh is part of Illawarra and Oatley of St. George. Just because they want be in the shire doesn't make them part of the shire. Aside from that I have played with players in both those teams and I wish them well along with the other teams represent the Sutherland shire

That's the one with the cricket pitch in the middle isn't it, down the road from the RSL?

In a lot of cases good association premier league sides are much better than State League 2 sides nowdays.

Blacktown Spartans (NSWPL) 0 v UNSW (SL1) 1 LOL...
"State League One outfit UNSW produced one of the shocks of the round defeating NSW Premier League side Blacktown Spartans 1-0 at Blacktown Football Park"
Not sure why Mark Stavroulakis would call it a shock. Results about right according to the style of football spartans play.
Local park style rubbish football doesn't cut the mustard at SL1 level either...

defensively very good and compact, closed everything down near there 18yard box, there midfields do well to track back, cover a lot of ground and hit you on the counter. we had two or three good chances but as usual wasnt enough, nevertheless this year blacktown will be there come final series time, and will be very tough to beat.

Batfink,
You only saw City once so I wouldn't be taking the view only Monie can score. James Monie isn't the current leading goal scorer. City can score from anywhere on the park.
So don't be making that mistake or any team that does will get punished.

Edited by Aussiesrus: 18/5/2012 02:55:37 PM having seen monie in action for us last year, and his efforts for olympic and the lions, i cant believe hes scoring at all. full credit to him if hes managed to turn things around at blacktown. for me he was very disappointing last year. looking forward to sunday's game against united.

I guess the city style of play suits James which may have been an issue with him at your club. It is not uncommon for a player not to suit one club but then everything clicks for them at another club. Batfink, You should have handed them a jar of peanut butter to keep them busy and quiet ;)

Batfink, You should have handed them a jar of peanut butter to keep them busy and quiet ;) yeah...LOL you know the type who sit there and rag about obvious decisions and know nothing of the rules but are experts and sit in blissfull ignornace...!!!!! like a player coming from an off side position....."he wasnt off side when the ball was kicked" ](*,) ](*,) painfull......

Bankstown City 2 - 0 Wollongong Wolves
Bankstown dominated this game from start to finish. I asked a Wollongong fan what their lineup was like, he said 4 or 5 starters with the rest being squaddies. Bankstown themselves rested half their team.

Actually Batfink would be good to read how the match went.
1-0 sounds like a very even close game.

1-0 sounds like a very even close game. ok....... parramatta gave a rest to 5 players so they are fresh for the game against Bonnyrigg those players were....Soane,Peterson,Napoli,Nash,Gullo..... first half Parramatta hit the woodwork twice, Marconi had 1 chance,Marconi moved the ball around well, and parra worked hard to close them down....Nil all at hald ime....Parra should have been up 1 nil.... second half goal to Marconi Via freekick ball into box from Severino, nice ball in glanced header to see ball go in, Parra Keeper perhaps should have come for the ball.....well Sterry rip him a new arse for not coming for the ball......Kwabena injured and replaced about 10 minutes into second half....plenty of young fellas got a run last night......Parra had 3 deadset sitters second half and were very unlucky not to score at LEAST 3 goals out of 5 excellent chances....Parra had more chances.....Casserly was having a fucken spaz attack on the sideline.....frothing at the mouth......They don't look like a finals team this year, really felt if Parra were at full strength they would have won....there was a gaffa or something from Marconi sitting behind me, he was pissed off with Marconi spewing about how they played...... This. Don't they have a few ex-A-League players on their books, too? dandaloo have ceccoli, boardman etc playing for them. theyre a great side. lets just say our focus is on this sundays game against the spartans and the selections reinforced this. nonetheless, congrats to dandaloo.

Ceccoli would be pushing 38-39 now. Can't believe he is still robbing clubs of wages.

ralerasic,
Zac Cairncross is the backbone of the defence and Travis Major also a key figure, Yamauchi is also a key player who creates the link to Miyazawa who is city's top scorer. So while changes appear subtle it is a big difference.

T-UNIT,
The Dapto Dandaloo Fury v Bankstown City FC match was postponed but has been scheduled to for Tuesday 12th June at Wetherall Park at 8pm in Primbee to conclude the Waratah Cup Quarter Finals.
ralerasic,
Was interesting to note sutherland scored a late header. Zac is very strong in the air.
Anyways big clash this weekend for both BWE and City. Should be a cracker.
