I hear that the crowds tend to be better for the Northern & Central Queensland teams as that is all they have got in terms of reasonable competition, e.g places such as Bundaberg, Mackay and Rockhampton are 1 club towns.

Strikers don't get good crowds, QAS get parents + a man and a dog and from what I've seen of Gold Coast Stars it's just as bad.

The QSL is a very important competition for teams outside of the South East Corner, whereas in Brisbane the financially prudent decision is to play in the Veto League - which is of a better standard of football in most cases anyway.

As mentioned on the Veto League thread - it will be interesting to see if Brisbane Strikers have applied for the revamped 2013 competition where the Veto League really begins to up its game. Rumours about suggesting they could... as for Gold Coast Stars they are unwanted in the Veto, while I've heard Sunshine Coast aren't interested - so they may be around to dominate what's left of the QSL in years to come.

What kind of crowds does this league get?
I heard they are respectable given its league status.

the QSL is a piss take and should not be funded... the Veto league is 1000 x better.

The QHSL has kicked off over the last few weeks with rain postponed matches etc effecting the first few games. The State League itself is a little unbalanced with one team from Brisbane. It will be hard for the country teams who have a lot less players to pick from. Not to mention Brisbane have several ex A-league players and trialists in their squad. This will definately build character in the country teams who must stand up and be counted. FNQ and NQ have had the same coaches for the last three years and i don't think either has the killer instinct to get their teams to a premiership win. The Mackay Miners have had a bit of boomtown mining money to encourage a bunch of overseas recruits so they will be a team to watch. The Sunshine Coast whom have dominated the league with Brisbane since it's inception will once again be strong. It would be good if the state league could be more professional so all clubs could draw the best available players . At the moment a lot of players couldn't be bothered travelling all over the state on the week-ends for nothing. At least the A- league clubs should get behind it more . After all their the ones who benefit in the long run, through development of players etc.
