Not to be a buzzkill. but there is talk about an exit strategy/ "home stretch" for the adaptation's run on HBO

And HBO has a method whereby they stop their shows from going on for too long to prevent them going stale (ie Dexter, or The Walking Dead)

By "stale", are you referring to story or viewership?

Both GoT and TWD are building viewership season on season, and both have extensive predetermined lore to draw from.

The shock factor in the books by Martin had purpose and ramifications....it seems the producers only put in shock factors based on improving ratings rather than the storyline.

Season 1 was the purest series hence thats what made it good...but its all turned to shit now

The blow up about the rape scene is bullshit. The show has depicted rape before and there was ZERO reaction. I didn't even blink at it until I saw on twitter that people got angry about it :lol:

The reason the story has gone stale is because of the remaining Stark Characters. Bran's storyline is worse than aids. Sansa has and will always be the most horrendously boring character that there ever was ever and ever fuck off. And Arya has gone from being a little badass to being an annoying teen stuck in a temple away from Westeros....

Also, removing Tyrion from more human interaction is shit... This season has been a drag, but it'll pick up soon.

True but it just seems Weiss / Beinoff are just thinking of a shock factor scene to improve ratings rather than go with the book.
Dany and Kahl Drogo was similar...but the thing is it is much in line with the Books.
All the shock factor scenes we have seen in previous seasons are in line with the books, which is reflective of the GRRM narrative. Seems like HBO have been given free reign to do whatever they want this season.

I dont understand the Dorne scenes...it was lame how Jaime and Bronn get that close to the Princess / Prince without any resistance. The fight scenes were shit...Girl with a whip Vs guys with a sword...lame.

Worst season ever.

I've only read as far as A Clash of Kings, so I can't really comment, but i'm sure it'll sort itself out... There's still the biggest twist of the series to come, plus Stannis going south... it'll pick up.

FYI Stoneheart will never be in the show if that's what you're thinking.

Nah not that. I realise they have to change some stuff for the show and chop things out to fit into the season but the main storylines they've changed this season relate to the characters ending up in different locales and characters who never interact with each other in the books.

I disagree with that tbh, even though Sansa has been a timid boring AF character for most of the show I think her story is much more interesting than Danny's, at least being exposed to a psycho like Ramsay and a master manipulator like Little Finger makes for some interesting viewing. Arya's story still interests me too tbh, yeah this House of Black and White stuff is pretty slow burn but at least it's intriguing.

Danny has dragons, she's hot, she's surrounded by top warriors and is contending with numerous rebellions yet somehow her scene's are about as interesting as watching paint dry. The Grey Worm and Missandei love story does absolutely nothing for me either. Ser Jorah was the saving grace when it came to Danny's story IMO.

They should have used the Greyjoys to replace the Greyworm / Missendei / Myranda / Ros / Shae stuff.

Wasted opportunity.

I have a feeling they might have left out the Greyjoy stuff due to budget constraints...a lot of the Greyjoys ( Euron / Victarion) scenes would have cost a lot more to film since they are on ships,etc.

Yeah, Sansa is improving and yes the Black and white thing is interesting, but it's just so slowwwww

I'm pretty sure it was dubbed "rape-gate" or something. People were going apeshit over that scene too because in the books it was consensual but the show made it out that Jaime forced himself onto Cersei.

The scene isn't as bad as what some are making it out to be, and I reckon it could [spoiler] be the start of theon regaining part of himself and trying to save sansa, going off the way he was breaking down watching it happen[/spoiler] so could become a pivotal scene in the show
