If only the shooting happened in a country where civilians had access to guns, they would have been able to defend themselves and take down the shooter.

Big congratulations to the mememaster generals around here for helping the US elect a government that takes mental healthcare away from people and lessens weapon restrictions.

You've done a good job today.

442 swung the election of Trump ?

I love the implication that if Hilary were elected there would be more mental illness and all gun violence would end, ipso facto Donald Trump and republicans are responsible for the massacre.

Again, all the worlds problems can be placed at the feet of one demographic: Old, white men.

No, not all of it would end, but solutions to the problem would be going forward instead of the status quo.

Just like what Obama did after Sandy Hook and the gay night club massacre, right?

How would've Hilary changed the status quo? The NRA and republicans despise her, no way they would've given an inch.

She would've at least tried, unlike Trump who just sits on his ass. You think someone funded by the NRA is going to go for Gun Control?
Obama responded and did every thing he could in a republican controlled congress something Trump can't manage even when he's a Republican himself!

And what did Obama achieve on gun control? Sweet FA, same as Donald, yet he is in his first year and Obama achieved nothing in eight. NRA would be more receptive to doing a deal with Trump on gun control as they are more likely to put in legislation that will protect second amendment rights whereas with the dems you get the feels they are out to destroy the gun lobby.

Bullshit that the NRA would be receptive to a deal with Trump, they're not receptive to a deal with anyone. Of fucking course the democrats are out to destroy the gun lobby, the NRA allow for these horrific scenes to continue. Protecting second amendments rights is the complete fucking opposite of gun control, Trump has done nothing, not even mentioned doing anything and won't even fucking try while people die but if it's killing protesters he's all bloody for it. The democrats will at least try to pass measures to protect people, American democracy is fucked when a tiny portion of people with money can control the government. If the democrats were in power gun control would pass but having a Republican controlled controlled Congress allows the NRA to maintain it's grip.

15 democrats voted against Obama's proposed assault weapon ban in 2013 senate vote. Only one republican however voted for it.

The culture of fear when it comes to arming citizens is completely different. Australian's are completely ignorant of how guns are treated in the USA. Disarming Australia was much easier than disarming the USA would be.

You'll never stop gun ownership. Even if they stop legal gun sales, they'll just come from Mexico and it will be criminals using them rather than ordinary citizens.

The exposing of Harvey Weinstein is showing what a vapid, horrible swamp Hollywood really is.

Certainly makes the pedo claims by Elijah Wood and Corey Feldman worth another look.

The problem with the American political system isn't the presidency, it's the utterly corrupt congress and money in politics.

100pc of the Republican Party already completely bought by big businessman Wall Street.

The main task of the lobbyists is to buy off 10-25pc of the Democratic Party as well to stop any progressive legislation getting through.

One example - Much of what Obama wanted to do on health care got watered down. He would have signed a bill with a public option, but the big insurance companies hated that. So even though the democrats had a supermajority, the lobbyists went around Washington and bought off the most corrupt congresspeople they could find - Sen Joe Lieberman, Sec Mary Landrieu and about 30 house reps who all took insurance company money and threatened to vote down the whole bill if the public option was in it.

Remember - the meagre Obamacare bill that got through congress only passed by 2 votes.

Same thing on Gun Control- the NRA threatened to campaign against democrats who voted for national gun licensing.

And then the Supreme Court passed citizens united, which allows unlimited money in politics because it's "free speech".

If you think America is still a democracy you need to open your eyes. America is run by lobbyists, not the people.

It won't be long until older generation actors start trying to prosecute half dead producers and powers from the 70's or earlier for crimes committed 40 years ago.

Weinstein need to be castrated. Some of the stories are just horrific. His behaviour against people who trusted him professionally is sick.

As bad as Weinstein is (seems a reasonable chance to face criminal charges), there are people in Hollywood who might actually be worse. The accusations against Brian Singer for instance could fit that bill.
