Stuff happening in Lebanon is fascinating.

Keep Israel & America out of their internal affairs & they'll sort it out without resorting to a Syrian style situation.

Perhaps, but it doesn't consider the situation of a Leave voter that wanted to leave with a very different deal and would rather stay in the EU from the realistic options. To me this is not a situation of "ignoring or disregarding the first result" but rather "now that you have all information on the table, what do you think is the best outcome?"

To be honest if those britons who voted leave ever had reservations leaving the EU they never should have voted to leave in the first place.

Imagine having a "now that you have all information on the table, what do you think is the best outcome?" vote 6 months after every state or federal election. We might as well become an authoritarian state and let some dictator make the decisions for us.

1, 2, 3 and 4 are unlikely.

In rough numbers this is my understanding;

1/3 of parliament want a no deal brexit.
1/3 want the deal
1/3 want to stay

......hence the giant clusterfuck of an impasse.  Because not 1 option of the above is compatible with any other option.

There's no end in sight for this.

My 2 and 3 options will force the middle 1/3rd who want a deal to pick a side.

The whole thing is a cluster fuck and I agree with mcjules assessment, people did not know what they were voting for.

The problem is half the damage has been done as a lot of companies have relocated to the continent.

I just love how farmers are getting interviewed saying the want to leave so all the Pols will piss off and stop ruining their towns, but then are left with the prospect of having to pay someone a living wage to work their fields rofl.

I don't have a horse in this race and really I'm just following it for the shits and giggles but as to what you say I would counter with 'well that was up to the remain camp to explain prior to the vote'.

Mind you I'm betting a fair chunk of the leavers would be regretting their vote now.

How about this though?

Talk about an 'informed' democracy.

I have citizenship to an EU nation so I guess I have some sort of horse in the race but apart from that I'm also mainly looking on in bemusement. I do like the argument that the onus is on the remain camp that the leave side were making ridiculous promises that weren't remotely possible.

Never been a fan of direct democracy, there's no way the average joe (that includes all of us here with other careers) can be across all the details and make well informed policy decisions. Electing representatives to parliament is a far better way.

Then in reality the new referendum question should be:

Does Britain -

(a) Leave with the deal negotiated?
or
(b) Leave without a deal?  (Hard Brexit.)

I'm not disagreeing with this, just the push by many 'remainers' to disregard the decision and stay with the EU.

Even if the remainers were taken out of the equation they still can't get out of Europe.

Exactly. All I'm saying is they can't agree on how to leave, how do you resolve that? If they can't do it on the floor of parliament and the "will of the people" is so important, get the answer from them.

The question has a gap because the terms of leaving were not established. I think the extension to January 2020 will happen and there will be a general election which will be run on the following 4 options:

- Hard Brexit
- Negotiate a deal as favourably as the Government can, and if not attainable, hard Brexit
- Negotiate a deal as favourably as the Government can, and if not attainable, remain
- Remain

"Should the United Kingdom remain a member of the European Union or leave the European Union?"

Pretty obvious isn't it?

If you aren't going to abide by one referendum why the hell would you have another one?

But nah, let's just keep asking the question in different ways until we get the response from the public that we want!
