1. Sledge was perfect and did its job 2. People sledge in tennis all the fucking time - he just got caught on camera and is being singled out by the media as a villain 3. ATP are nuts if they suspend literally the only tennis player with a fucking personality. Hope he wins the US Open and raises the trophy to a stadium full of boos with a smile on his face. 4. Hes 20. Plays tennis. Has won milliones of dollars...... none of these things are helpful in creating a good bloke 5. If this was a footbal code of cricket we would either be hearng nothing about it or applauding it (basically any mainstream baby). 6. Why only Big Stan's side of the story? He was throwing chat during the game, talked shit after they last played, hit a ball at Nicks head, and is creeping on a teenager. Sledge warranted. 7. Controversial - If he was white, I dont think we'd be having this conversation.
Im loving the number of people I know getting their back up and rambling on about Adam Goodes (without a full understanding of that situatuin) and how the whole situation shows inherent racism in Australians and we shouldnt stand for it but talk so much shit about Kyrgios and say filthy things about him (also without knowing the situation). Some of the stuff directed at Kyrgios is nothing short of blatantly racist and it gets thrown at him without any type of backlash from the media because theyre the ones doing it.

You've praised Kyrgios for a sledge which utterly objectifies Donna Vekic. That's sexism, pure and simple. And in the same breath, you've criticised the rest of the world for allegedly being outraged that Vekic allegedly wants to sleep with more than one man. From what I've read on social media and in comments sections of the papers, any number of people have said Donna Vekic can screw whoever she wants. That doesn't really square with the idea that most people are upset that she wants to sleep with more than one man. Most people were fairly indignant on her behalf because she has been objectified. Leaving aside the thing I forgot to mention in my earlier post; you're not supposed to sledge in tennis, full stop. It's against the customs of the sport. Leaving that aside, the world is butthurt because sledges which target people's partners (or ex-partners, where it's a sensitive issue) are unfair and cruel. That's why people are butthurt. It's unfair on Stan, it's unfair on Donna and (although in this instance I'm fairly certain this isn't the case) it could potentially be unfair on Thanasi. The sledge was too personal. The sledges I referred to above were about things like weight and ability in their chosen sport. Sledges to do with family and partners (especially where there's a hint of truth) are too personal and hurtful.

Another thing we haven't really thought of. For all we know, Vekic never slept with Kokkinakis.
If I was asked to guess one way or another, I'd guess she did. But we don't know that it's true. It's just Kyrgios word for it, at this stage.
Maybe he just made it up. Wouldn't be the first time sledges with no basis in fact have been used in sport.

It fuels me. I like people who upset the apple cart. Next week there will be someone else to be outraged at. My guess? Probably one of Michael clarke's former team mates will come out and say something. Or Warnie will get into a fight. I look forward to it.

Happy Gilmore's not a dickhead. I call it nasty and unwarranted. Hitherto, I haven't really had much issue with Kyrgios' conduct on court. The tanking issue is fairly difficult to establish (and any number of players could be called out for it). So it's just arguments and stuff which, I agree with you, make tennis more interesting. But I think here he has gone too far.

Kyrgios is a little bitch. The guy talks shit, picks a fight, and at the first sign of the fight coming back to bite him has other people talking tough for him and is talking legal action rather than taking the consequences of his behaviour. Pussy.

The downside about a grand slam is nothing really happens until week 2 of the tournament
if there is something to say about this is having a bet on the sport, Ive heard stories about people betting on the tennis without watching it and profitting from it, they profit by betting on players with the higher ranking, its that predictable

Edited by condemned666: 1/9/2015 11:35:05 AM That wouldn't be profitable in the long (long) term as I'm certain that statistical models and subjective biases would've covered for that. TBH I dont think people really care with so much going on Case in point: does anybody even know who on earth won that Kyrgios /Wawrinka match?

Heres a rhetorical question, if Stan Wawrinka said "what Nick said I wouldnt say to my worst enemy", then who is Stan's worst enemy then?

He might not be winning on the tennis court but-> ... This will not end well :-$ :-# Meanwhile in terms of whats going on the court, Nadal's blown a two set lead for the first time in his grand slam career... to quote Nick in his polite Australian manner:- "sorry to tell you this but..." youre a spent force :?

the last time stan wawrinka came back from 2 sets down was against James Blake
No doubt this contributed to James Blake turning to a career in singing
anyway looks like another boring predictable federer-djokovic final after 2 lacklustre semis (odds are the rain contributed to the lower intensity of matches today) , anyway the final: djoker will win in straight sets this time around

People probably care because she's one of the greatest sportspeople of all time who fell just short of pulling off one of the biggest achievements in modern sport.
