I like how they've even given her the bogan moniker "Dasha" to anglo her up a bit. Dasha is a nickname for the name Daria in Russia iirc. Except the bogans are pronouncing it wrong. I thought it might have been but still, it works so well for the Australian viewer. ye i think it is pronounced Dahsha, it's more gentle in russian. Bogans whinging that she grunts  what do you expect from a russian player :-({|=

Found it annoying how they started calling Hewitt, Rusty as well. Nicknames should be used commentary. Just feels wrong and contrived.

After watching Isner destroy Lopez I really thought he'd make his first ever quarter final. This Zhang Shaui is a very average player. Tomorrow will be insane: Edited by Roar_Brisbane: 26/1/2016 12:08:15 AM

Anyway Feds has all the shots and stuff, but he'll freeze against Djokovic.

People complain that women's tennis is boring because serena always wins
But what about men's tennis? Since 2005, out of Federer, Djokovic, Murray or Nadal have been in all but 1 grand slam final
Nishikori vs Cilic, and people accused that match of being the worst in living memory

Nishikori vs Cilic, and people accused that match of being the worst in living memory The relative competitiveness of both teh men's and women's game is as you described equal. But the perceived level of competitiveness of the women's and men's game is a huge turnoff to most people. As obvious as it may seem, the disparity of both team's play is perceived to be greater than ever. Fair call but at least with the males you've got that Big 5 where you know it will be a great contest and any can actually win although its generally (Djokovic, Fed & Nadal) Also outside of that group you've had guys like Martín del Potro, Berdych & Cilic capable of winning those big matches and a stack of others who at least make these matches competitive. You also have to note that we've had three of the greatest tennis players in history all playing in pretty much the same era. Whereas with the women, yes Serena will go down as a great but she has had literally no rival for the last few years that seems capable of beating her. On top of that outside of her, Sharapova and maybe Halep & Azarenka, all the other higher ranked girls have no consistency at all when it comes to the slams and half of the seeds will be gone after the first round. You just don't see that level of capitulation in mens tennis. Regardless of that I'll still watch.

the thing about Feds is he should consult with Giles Simon during the tournament to see how to challenge Djokovic, there is too much hubris from Federer, believing that "if he just played his shots it will be good enough"
Simon is an unfashionable player, but he pushed Djokovic to five sets, and made Djokovic hit 100 unforced errors. This match looks like a quick kill

Whoever goes through in the other semi, I would like someone to put a stop to Novak's extremely long run at Melbourne Park...

Really enjoyed watching Djok v Fed last night. Even the Mrs, who is a self-confessed hater of Tennis, was wrapped up in it. Those guys are just miles above everyone else. IMO there's nothing better than watching Fed get close to the net.
Watching the Murray/Tomic game the other night, and comparing it to last night - it was a whole other level of competition.
What a time.
