Wouldn't it be great if there was a centralised place you could find information about all clubs and competitions, like the A-league website?

Surely it wouldn't be that hard to convince Optus to do it for the competition?

You're talking way too much common sense.

Someone ought to.

The most frustrating thing about all the stateleagues is the lack of access to information.

Having single place for all of them.

Wouldn't happen.

The difference being that the EPL clubs didn't seperate from the FA, where any breakaway clubs would have to here.

Creating real issues with the Registration of players. Those who do switch may not be able to ever be registered for other FIFA and FFA mandated competitions practically destroying their career and there wouldn't be the money to make it worth it to do that.

Olympic to take on the U23 Malaysian side on the Saturday 2nd of February at 8:15pm at Goodwin Park.

The clubs should have complete freedom.

Nothing short of embarrassing the lack of information. Olympic FC disposed the likes of the Malaysian U23 team.

How did they do? They only lost to the Mariners 2-1 a while a go from what I heard and they thrashed Palm Beach 5-1.

So far, this APL is a complete failure. Fuck the FFA!

Olympic 2-1 Malaysia. Imagine the wasted talent in the smaller grades. Its fucking pathetic.

So far very little public engagement by clubs. Olympic seems to be doing well though.

Key dates for Victorian NPL

Quote:
The Vision for Football in Victoria – a proposed model for discussion

PRESENTATION: NCR Presentation FFV July 2012

BACKGROUND: History and Summary

QUESTIONS: Frequently Asked Questions

Football Federation Victoria's consultation with stakeholders around Victoria, which was the most comprehensive of any member federation, is now complete.

The Football Committee met on 23 January 2013 to discuss the main areas of concern that have been raised regarding the proposed model that was released earlier this year.

A summary of the final model being considered by the Board will be published shortly.

The Football Committee will meet again prior to the next Board meeting where it will consider the following detailed documents:

1 Licence Agreement
2 Detailed Criteria
3 FAQ/Guidelines for Applicants

The Football Committee will then prepare a formal recommendation for the Board meeting on 7 March 2013. It is anticipated the Board’s decision will be communicated immediately and the timetable for the next steps will be:

• Early March - Final model and criteria announced
• Late March - Applications open
• April -June - FFV staff available to assist applicants
• July - Applications close
• August - FFV Board consider applications
• Early September - Successful applications announced

Of course its going to crash unless FFA fund it.
With the other HAL clubs,AFL,NRL,ARU and etc etc where are these clubs going to find their
sponsorships required to keep the clubs afloat. Fulltime GM,Fulltime Technical Director and fulltime coach. In my world GM's dont come cheap unless the GM is willing to take a pay cut. And is a guy going to give up his $80,000 job to coach a NPL club for $47,500? Hmmmmmm dont think so.
Its a disaster waiting to happen.

I know it's been ages since this thread was last posted in, but it's stickied so I'll just ask here.

Is there any information yet about how the National Premier Leagues Finals - the Championship between the League winners - will work? I'm struggling to work out how you do a 5-team knockout competition, without inherently disadvantaging some clubs with byes or double-chances.

Maybe they'll seed them based on Points (per match), or perceived strength of their leagues? Or even add three Wild Cards to make an even 8? And will it be two-leg playoffs or hosted by the higher seed?

Maybe these questions are still being wrestled with at Headquarters, and that's why there's no announcement. :p

I received a tweet today from FFA

basically it is the minor premiers from Football NSW, Football QLD, Football Federation Tasmania and Captial Football plus the grand final winner from Football Federation South Australia will be in the playoffs.

I don't know how they will do this with 5 teams but as of next year with Victoria, Western Australia and Northern NSW coming on board it will be the minor premiers of all 8 state leagues that will compete in the National Playoff.

Northern Territory has a partial model so I would assume they are working slightly different to raise standards in the top end.

metrostars wrapped up the minor premiership this weekend but it will be the grand final winner that will go through but only for this season only.

current leaders in the other state leagues are as follows as of 29th July 2013

Football NSW (Sutherland Sharks)
Football Queensland (Olympic)
Football Federation Tasmania (South Hobart)
Captial Football (Canberra FC)

hope this helps.

There is nothing 'minor' about the Premiership. FFS.

Thanks for the info, Timmo. This part is interesting in particular; every league in the NPL has a Finals Series (so a champion and a "minor" premier), but only one league is sending its Champion? I wonder whose call that was, the State Feds or the FFA?

just a small step to probably becoming a traditional football league and the national playoffs become the final series instead. I am hoping with FFA cup the League winners and state cup winners (or if they are the same) who finishes league runner-up join into the FFA cup?

Erm, hoping A-League clubs have a bit more of a role than just beating playing the best. I want a more integrated role (ie, home and away matches).

spoke to russel seargent about ffa cup at the fan forum in adelaide. from what he said the state reps will be decided through the existing state cups, ie the finalists from each state, and if thats not quite 22 I would assumed maybe semi finalists from nsw and vic. with the A-league teams to join that contingent.

My understanding is that these 2 teams are playing for the last spot in the semis. The winner will play Olympic (QLD) and the other semi has a SA and a TAS team. These 3 teams had a bye this year. Is that right?

Would be good if these matches were being shown on SBS while we wait for the a-league to start. Will be better next year with all 8 conferences being hopefully properly represented. Is there a radio broadcast or anything for this match?
