Quote:HARRY KEWELL is being lined up for a shock move to Paolo Di Canio’s League One Swindon.
Former Leeds, Liverpool and Galatasaray star Kewell, 33, who is also wanted by Middlesbrough, was set to join Blackburn but a deal fell through. http://www.dailystar.co.uk/football/view/262088/Swindon-eye-shock-move-for-Harry-Kewell/
By now, American Samoa must have realised that Australias 22-0 win over Tonga two days earlier was no fluke.

Quote:Swindon deny Kewell link 16/7/2012 7:15 PM Sportal Swindon Town interim chairman Jeremy Wray has denied his club are close to signing Socceroos forward Harry Kewell. Kewell has moved back to the United Kingdom to be with his wife and her sick mother and needs a new club after a season in the A-League with Melbourne Victory. British media reported on Sunday that Swindon manager Paolo di Canio was keen to recruit Kewell but Wray has ruled out any bid for the 33-year-old Australian. "There is nothing at all in it, no association at all," Wray said on Monday. "I have seen the rumours but there is nothing in them, the first I saw about it was in the media." While Australian media picked up the story on Monday, the chances of Kewell joining Swindon always looked slim. Di Canio's recruitment for the 2012/13 season has focused on youth as he attempts to take Swindon from League One to the Championship. The 44-year-old Italian has signed seven players since the end of last season with an average age of almost 27, meaning Kewell would represent a distinct divergence from di Canio's recruitment strategy. Kewell has already been linked with a move to Blackburn Rovers and Middlesbrough in what is likely to be his first stint in England since he left Liverpool in 2008. http://www.sportal.co.nz/football-news-display/swindon-deny-kewell-link-187699

He selflessly left a club and city that he was happy at, for the benefit of his family, which warrants so much respect. Regardless of where he will be playing football, I regard him so highly for putting family first. Was it selfless? That would imply that he gains nothing by going... Had he stayed it would most likely have caused enormous stress and strain on his marriage, and he would have most likely been 18,000km from his children. With his decision to go he still gets to play professional football, at an equivalent level to the A-league (or higher), and still get paid well for it.

When oh when will Harry find a club?
The clock is ticking.
Maybe the next announcement is ... retirement?

You're splitting hairs Benjamin, we can safely say he put his family first, and the rest is just details and semantics.

After the way he left and then signing for Gala, I think his fans at Leeds could be counted on one hand. Would be a dumb signing for the club. We're going for promotion, I don't think Kewell would add much to our squad.

I'd like to see him try at a newly promoted club. But do you think he might end up in Turkey again?

He'd be a squaddie at most, and I don't think he'd be up for that. Didn't know you were a Leeds fan, Nico. :p

Wouldnt be surprised if he headed back here, Europe has gone back into there football, i cant see many clubs wanting to sign a 33 year old with a bad rep for injuries.

Kewell won't be coming back to Australia for a long time. He'll see out his playing career somewhere in England, than probably disappear into obscurity Mark Viduka style.

Quote:Socceroos star Harry Kewell steps up his club search with an impromptu visit to Stoke City training by: Daniel Garb in London From: FOX SPORTS August 23, 2012 7 SOCCEROOS star Harry Kewell's search for a new club has become frantic, arriving unannounced at Stoke City's training ground for a meeting with manager Tony Pulis. The Barclays Premier League club told Fox Sports in a statement that Kewell "turned up out of the blue, wasn't expected by anyone, had a five minute conversation with our manager and left". What may come, if anything, from the brief chat is still unknown. The former Leeds, Liverpool and Galatasary star has been on the lookout for a new club since leaving the Melbourne Victory and returning to the UK in late June to be with his wife, Sheree Murphy, whose mother is in poor health. Recently voted Australia's greatest ever footballer, Kewell has been linked with several English clubs over that period including Blackburn, Middlesbrough and Swindon Town. The transfer window for English clubs ends on August 31, but as a free agent, Kewell is free to sign at any time with a club. http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/sport/soccer/socceroos-star-harry-kewell-steps-up-his-club-search-with-an-impromtu-visit-to-stoke-city-training/story-fndb5nmd-1226456288555
