Norwich City are said to be keen on signing Liverpool goalkeeper Brad Jones.

The 30-year-old has only made one Premier League appearance since joining the Reds from Middlesbrough two years ago for a fee of £2.3m.

Canaries manager Chris Hughton is a long-term admirer of Jones and wants him to provide competition for first-choice stopper John Ruddy at Carrow Road, according to the Daily Mail.

Perth-born Jones has been capped three times at senior international level by Australia.

So he goes from being second choice at Liverpool to being second choice at Norwich?

Hmm... is it worth it?

And the article states the Norwich coach "...wants him to provide competition for first-choice stopper John Ruddy at Carrow Road."

That's what concerns me. He is already meant to be providing competition to a first (or second) choice GK. He is moving to do the same job (if he does indeed go). If the coach said "He will be our number 1 unless for injury or form." then it would be worth the move I feel.

He'll never displace Reyna but might have a chance with Ruddy, who isn't a bad keeper though from what I've seen of him.

He may also be looking at the bigger picture and seeing himself as a good #2 who can make decent coin playing understudy. The hell he's gone through the past 2 years could well have given him a different kind of perspective.

If you had seen him play in the europa qualy match he was keeping in you would know why he is 3rd choice. Almost 2 big cock ups.

He seems like a great guy but I couldn't believe it when Liverpool made an offer for him at Boro. Whenever he does play he never inspired much confidence from the streams I watched and that was when he was getting a consistent run of starts at the Boro. He was probably lucky he got out when he did as Steele probably would have ended up taking his place during the season. Hopefully he can prove himself to be a decent understudy at a good club though. I struggle to believe that Liverpool would not have done their research before they purchased him and perhaps they saw a fair bit of untapped ability. You won't hear many people say a bad word about him as a person but as a goalkeeper it is a different story.

IIRC the only reason Liverpool signed him was because he qualifies as home-grown.
