+xHow about Connolly! A 19 year old striker making his first full Premier League debut goes and scores a classy brace against Spurs. Was worried Maty and Mooy would be left in a team without real firepower since Brighton loaned Andone and Locadia, but Connolly looks the goods! Spurs looked like a different team today. Love to know wtf is going on with them. Connolly actually looked rubbish making runs around the box off Mooy and Grob in the first half, nfi how he scored 2 goals. I take back everything I said about Maupay, unless he screws it up next week. He still had trouble manufacturing that final bit of quality dribble, even pass. I am still sceptical. What a win though.

+xCan someone chuck a barrell of black tar over Maupay's hair so he never appears similar to Mooy again? Yeah , might even play into Mooy's hands. It could confuse defenders a little bit. Mooy was toying with Spurs backline all night. Eating out of the palm of his hand, was a pleasure to watch.

I thought Aaron Mooy played a great match even against the poor, low confident Spurs side.
He looked very comfortable.

Juric is alive, but he's on the bench.
By now, American Samoa must have realised that Australias 22-0 win over Tonga two days earlier was no fluke.

@highkick
You think Connolly looked rubbish?? He was literally man of the match!
I thought he played well all game, making fantastic runs and getting in great positions. Again, it was his PL starting debut and he’s 19. Seems you’re quite hard to please.

He made poor runs or lost the ball. His first goal was a gimme, second was pretty good despite how completely shit obviously Tottenham played while using there bench GK. I've never been as optimistic as you :) I knew Maupay scored 2 goals in his previous games , but he redeemed himself last night, was a real nuisance all night for Tottenham. Surprised Mooy kept up, however he was completely stuffed. On the other hand, Grob ended up running less than Mooy which is a credit to Mooy really. I like him where he's playing for Brighton and he's quite lucky to have found a team who will play him higher up the pitch like that. Pretty cool for him albeit, perfect time in his career.

@highkick
Agree with you on Mooy - great to see him playing so advanced this season. The team sheet listed him as a #8 but again he was more of a #10/inside forward.
That was also his 3rd PL start in a row, so from a Roos perspective he’s ticking both boxes in that he’s starting games and playing as an attacker.

OK issue is Trossard plays on left and there might be a a reshuffle but Mooy is in such good form it'd be silly to drop him.

But Potter likes to rotate a lot and by a lot i mean all the time. If i was to guess Mooy would be very safe in away matches and against stronger teams, he might get a rest in an easy home match though.

Some of Mooy's deliveries and defending could see him keeping his spot. idk . Trossard can take Connolly's spot wouldn't both me, those runs Maupay was making , if Trossard can replicate that I'm sure Mooy could serve some good balls.

Brighton fans on Mooy after spurs game
"I never realised how good Mooy is until yesterday. When we signed him I thought he was just a bog standard midfielder who would do a job without being outstanding. Today he was an absolute beast. If it weren’t for Connolly he’d have been MOTM. There is no way he’s being dropped any time soon. Same for Alzate. So I think Propper may have to wait for an injury or suspension to get back in."
"Spot on. I also thought that Mooy was signed as a decent midfielder to plug the gaps for when we had injuries. But today he bossed the midfield and was the heart and soul of the side. He has a great ability to keep possession in tight spots, hold off strong challenges and then play an attacking pass. It made me feel like I had opened all my Christmas presents and then found one more under the tree a couple of hours later that turned out to be the Scaletrix that I always wanted."
"Agreed. So strong, so good with the ball and surprisingly agile too. Let’s just sign him up now, there’s no way he’s going back to Huddersfield."

Rogic injured or not fit? Surely he's not flying to replace Irvine who was missing tomorrow?

Rogic is getting married in the international window anyway so his fitness is irrelevant to selection.

He might not have got on the scoresheet, but Aaron Mooy put in a man of the match performance where he almost single-handedly dominated Tottenham's midfield which cost just shy of £100m.
The Australia international was the standout player for Brighton & Hove Albion in the heart of the pitch, having a hand in their opening two goals as well as a handful of other chances throughout the rest of the match. While Mooy impressed at times with Huddersfield Town last season, the 29-year-old heads into the international off the back of one of his best-ever performances." "Aaron Mooy playing like the second coming of Vieira. Unbelievable player" "Aaron Mooy is playing like prime Paul Scholes"
