Fine he doesn't get a great deal of game time but either did Kalac prior to the 2006 WC when he was no. 2 at AC Milan.

Yeah, and I'm sure we all loved what he served up during his one game at WC06... As for young Smith, while rated at Liverpool...who has seem him play on a consistent basis? Its great that he is rated at such a big club, but so was Bouzanis and where is he now? And, how close is he to a NT call up?

I think we need to start getting harsher on players not playing and getting national team games. I think if Brad starts getting games and has a few first team games by the end of the season sure but not before an appearance. He is 4th choice at LB and a call up from the bench makes our national team look shit. Players with multiple nationalities will (if not already) be happy to sit on Aussie call-ups and wait for their other nation to call because we seem desperate.
I think other than a few specific cases like and established player swapping clubs and taking time to break in (Kruse recently, Rogic possibly) or a leader playing a lot less (Bresc, Schwartzer) we should really just be saying play if you want national team appearances.
I think looking at Holland, Leckie or more recently Irvine (who is back at Celtic as a side note) they dropped down a little to find their level and are rewarded with call-ups.
This is better than calling up bench players in my opinion. In terms of LB I would just say Davidson easily first choice and go with the best LB in the A-league from the month leading up to the game. We don't need some guy with potential at the moment and should just find someone who can do a job for the world cup/Asian cup. Look at the Iran team or Nigerian side that won the African cup of nations, both had plenty of local players and are doing well. I know middle east nations are slightly different with how many games their national team play but still I think it counts.

A bit of a dig at Halloran and the A-league. A little harsh since he has only played 5 games and if they check he didn't score many in the A-league also. The whole article is about how Fortuna's midfield has only scored 4 goals so everyone in their midfield gets insulted which hopefully means he hasn't been as bad as the others and might keep on getting games. Also they have won 3 of the 5 games he has played but one of them was in the Fürth game which gets pointed out as a very bad game by him. Quote:Ben Halloran: Second league is not A-League! That had to recognize painfully against the Australians in Fürth disaster half one. The blond prepare quick game and speedy decisions still some problems. Did he actually "Robbie Kruse potential"? Wait and see!

Matthew Ryan more valuable than Hazard!!!! :d Quote:Christmas promotion Pro League: Auction enters final hours
Christmas Action Pro League gradually approaching its climax. The auction of the special "Pro League +" - sweaters, Thursday and Friday were worn by the players from the Jupiler Pro League, is indeed the last hours.
At this moment, the jersey of Jelle Vossen still (KRC Genk) in the lead, with a bid of more than 1700 euros. In second place comes the shirt Matthew Ryan , keeper of Club Brugge. His shirt was now above 800 euros. They are followed by Aleksandar Mitrovic (RSC Anderlecht) and Thorgan Hazard (Zulte Waregem).
"The evening Champions League with Johan Boskamp "meanwhile already completed the milestone of 5,500 euros. The winner of this auction will be able to enjoy a top fixture in the eighth finals of the Champions in the company of "Bossie". When the shirts donated by former players from our competition is the leadership headed by Marc Degryse . The shirt which Degryse played when our country Netherlands defeated at the 1994 World Cup in the USA, was already above 750 euros.
Winners of the shirts will be contacted after the auction. They can start paying their shirts during the month of January and pick it up in the fan shop of the respective club. Vossen recently got his 100th goal for Genk so possible why his shirt is going for so much. http://www.sport.be/nl/jupilerproleague/nieuws/article.html?Article_ID=667746Edited by moofa: 28/12/2013 12:44:24 PM

Herd not in the squad :-k Jedinak starting
By now, American Samoa must have realised that Australias 22-0 win over Tonga two days earlier was no fluke.

Not the EPL but I dont think the championship either would be cool if he could go to the Eredivise or another similar quality league.

To be honest his playing style doesn't really suit mainland Europe. He's been playing in an English system for so long that his only options are England or Scotland. I think he could do well in the EPL, but Villa is a shambles of a team, and has been for a few years now. He would be better off at another team, but it also comes down to playing regularly again. He was playing well when he was there more often. Things like passing percentages etc will increase with more time i believe. Championship is below him as well, but he could do well playing a season there just to get him game time up.

Jedi with some rash tackles last night he barely touches the ball and plays very deep.

Jedi does his job, and he does it well. Makes the most of his ability and that's all you can ask. His passing is better than the majority of people think too.

Bulut got 30 minutes in a 1-1 draw. I think he might be coming back from injury but either way doesn't seem like things are going well.

I feel today is when Rogic has a chance of returning since getting back to training last Tuesday. Probably only 5 minutes but any time will be good.

Nearing the 80th minute and no subs made by Celtic.
Pukki on for Forrest 80th minute.
Balde on for Stokes in the 89th minute. Edited by socceroofan4life: 30/12/2013 01:09:51 AM

No Rogic tonight, just the two substitutes by Lennon.

It must be so boring for Rogic there. Celtic are so far ahead now and even their other decent talent, Balde, barely gets a go. The transfer window can't come quick enough.
