+xUnlikely to see Arzani take Forest’s spot in this Celtic team tbh Arzani's best bet will be on the left. Forrest form the last season and a bit has been of the highest order. It will take something special for Forrest to be dropped.

+xRogic also needs knee injections to play, you have to ask why he's even playing at all to be honest. God he is one of the most beautiful players to watch. He usually always just goes one touch too long, but it's a pleasure to watch it anyway

McGrath on the bench
By now, American Samoa must have realised that Australias 22-0 win over Tonga two days earlier was no fluke.

It appears Irvine has a niggle. Petratos has been ruled out of the camp.

Nice goal by Hertha. Duda slots it nicely. Jealous of players like Duda, Maxim and Jovic in the bundesliga with all their Rogic similarities.

Duda with a great free kick. 2:0 and done. He's everything I'd imagine Rogic being in the league.

+x+x+x+xS. Korea just beat Japan to win the Asian Games. Something that is rare ? It means Son, who captained them to gold, doesn't have to do two years' military service. This somewhat explains their group stage loss to Malaysia as they rotated their whole squad to ensure everyone got an exemption. Apparently due to not finishing high school Son wouldn't qualify for the Army team in the K-League, if he didn't win it would have totally ruined his career. Crazy. They're not such a bad country, but that shit baffles me. Thought Israel was the only such strange country. Obviously, N.Korea are crazy as. Compulsory military service is more common than you'd think. Found out recently that Brazil has it (although it's apparently very easy to get out of and there's a lottery to see who gets picked). Finland has it too, but that long border with Russia makes it somewhat understandable. Switzerland has it.

Compulsory military service is more common than you'd think. Found out recently that Brazil has it (although it's apparently very easy to get out of and there's a lottery to see who gets picked). Finland has it too, but that long border with Russia makes it somewhat understandable. You know that Australia had it that way too until December 1972? The famous 2 man ministry axed National Service which operated in the same compulsory vein as Brasil. In your 21st year you had to register. A lottery then took place where birth dates were drawn from a barrel. After that you got mail requiring you to fill out the forms, do a medical and kiss your freedoms goodbye. You were called up by the Government at 20. You got the vote at 21. You couldn't even go down the pub to have a last drink with your mates. You were too young to drink but old enough to die. Shit those were the days...... That isn't factually correct at all. What you are talking about was National Service, both of my grandfathers and 3 of my great grandfathers completed national service and all of them believed it was really beneficial. I'd love to see it reintroduced for those who aren't as a minimum, working, studying or serving an apprenticeship by the time they are 21. If nothing else it teaches discipline. The below explains it a bit: Compulsory military training for the nation's young men was reintroduced in 1951 by the Liberal Government. It was the third such scheme to have existed in Australia since Federation. Eighteen-year-old men were required to partake in the National Service scheme, which meant that they had to undertake 176 days of military training. Those who elected to undertake their training in the army could break up their training requirements into two periods, 98 days in the regular army and 78 days in the Citizen Military Forces (CMF). Those who elected to undertake their training with the RAN or the RAAF had to complete their 176 days in one stretch. The scheme was criticised as being irrelevant to modern defence needs, where skill was becoming more important than numbers, and for being a drain on the regular army's finances and manpower. In 1959 the scheme was abolished. National service was brought back for a fourth time in 1964, and in May 1965 the Liberal government introduced new powers that enabled it to send national servicemen overseas. At that time Australian soldiers were involved with the war in Vietnam, and the Menzies government wished to raise the army's numbers to 40,000 in order to meet overseas commitments. All 20-year-old males had to register with the Department of Labour and National Service, and their names were selected by the "birthday ballot", in which men were randomly selected for national service by their date of birth. Exemptions were given to Aborigines and Torres Strait Islanders, the medically unfit, and theology students. Young men were granted exemption on the grounds of conscientious objection only if they could prove their objection to war was based on religious beliefs. A temporary deferment of national service was granted to university students, apprentices, married men, and those who could prove that national service would cause them financial hardship. Those who were selected for national service were required to serve for two years full-time in the regular army, and three years part-time in the reserves.

I’m not. It’s a 2-year loan and they’ve said they have a tailored program for him. No rush tbh.
Wouldn’t even mind if he didn’t play for Celtic until after the Asian Cup as if he breaks into the team before then he’ll have all his progress undone anyway.
He’s not a starter for the Roos so as long as he’s fit enough for his 20-minute cameos then at this stage of his career, at 19 years old, I’m fine with it.

Arzani has been at celtic proper only a few weeks. FFS, I wouldn't be surprised if it was months and months before he played - let alone get picked in the squad. People need to relax and realise he's no different than 100s (or 1000s) of young footballers in Europe - he's not some freak or superstar in the making - yet - like Mbappe - who is also 19 but has played almost 80 games of senior club football and 22 senior internationals.
I wish him success and hope he breaks through early but I wouldn't start panicking after two weeks.

We do have one youth with this type of potential - maybe (though it will be a big ask if he reaches Mbappe level), in Karamoko Dembele. He is only 15 at the minute, but made his U20's debut at 13yo a couple of years back. Been heads above other kids his age in the 'Euro youth comps'. Personally I don't see him making is first grade debut until a year or two away - but who knows. EDIT: Sorry for going off topic.
